  1. What I have learned is to shoot my own match and not someone elses . With me being newer I soak up so much from all directions and if I try and emulate what the better shooters are doing I lose focus of my game plan . My skillset will develop over time . I watch how better shooters break down stages , other than that I just do my own thing .
  2. Awesome thank you sir . I've been trying to get a concrete answer for this because I see no reason why I should get bumped to limited or open for it which is what I was told . Needless to say I haven't been back there since
  3. No matter what I do , I cannot kick the smoking habit and quite frankly it's pissing me off . I have tried several times over the past 3 or 4 years and can never seem to make it past 6 months . You would think in theory that working out , racing , shooting etc would take your mind off of it but it doesn't . I'm tired of spending money on the damn things yet at the time can't help myself to spark one up the first chance I get . GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
  4. I shot a Glock for several years and went to a Stock 2 and I like it quite a bit better but my only complaint about the Tanfo's is trigger springs . I never broke a TRS on any gun until I bought a Tanfo . I just put my spare in and cannot locate anywhere , everyone is sold out that I have found so far . I tried the CGW CZ TRS and my pull weight went up , so I guess I could hang onto that one for a pinch situation .
  5. If you are wanting to keep the base price at 800 or less , you have several options really . But may I ask why you are wanting to go away from the Glock ? You can find Grand Power X-Caliburs under your budget and are very nice shooting out of the box. SP-01 Tactical isn't bad but you'll need to do some significant trigger work to get it better . Take a look at say a CZ P09 , it's a decocker model similiar to the SP-01 tactical yet is going to be easier on the wallet and from what you end up having in that tactical for upgrades you can do to the P09 and have money left over for magazines or whatever you need . Just my 2 cents !
  6. Hey guys random question here . Unless I'm blind I don't see anything in the rules about having canted / angled mag pouches as long as they are behind the hip bones . I saw some of the guys at production nats last year doing this and several local , yet I have had multiple people tell me no . Am I missing something or are the guys telling me no policing their own made up rules . Can anyone give me some insight please ?
  7. Working out really good so far . Fun fact of the day is that now my 4 year old son is doing it with me but has added his own twist . I have them setup in two different rooms and run back and forth between the two , but my four year old decided it would be a good idea to start barrel rolling , flipping and everything else a 4 year old can think of between the two rooms and it's absolutely hilarious . I'll have to try and get it on video and post it . He's doing stuff that if I try it I doubt I'll be able to get back up off the floor haha !!!
  8. I was never a fan of the manufactured pre cut grip tape . It wears really fast and I hated having to constantly change it . One day the neighbor kid was out front on his skateboard and I called him over and he some tape on there that was so gritty and sticky that just running your fingers across it took skin off . He gave me a roll of it and it's awesome , if I can figure out the manufacturer I'll post it . Between that tape and some rosin or pro grip talk about one heck of a sticky grip .
  9. I own 3 M&P Shields , ( Yea Yea , it's my fav carry summer gun , my wifes too lol ) and I had the same issue when I first purchased one . I carried a Glock 26 or 19 for years and never had the issue of yanking or diving . What I noticed was the obvious grip angle change , but going from the double stack to single stack I ended up death gripping the gun with my strong hand and was pretty lax on the support hand . Once I got used to actually having to utilize grip on the gun I was good to go . IMO the best shooting small single stack on the market !
  10. Well , I did it 10 times and my scores were 31 , 28 , 28 , 27 , 23 , 23 , 23 , 23 , 26 , 23 . Not too bad , I'm 34 so still got some gas left in the tank lol .
  11. I hooked the front of the trigger guard for years and it worked for me . Once I went away from polymer wonders into real guns for whatever reason I yanked the gun left every single time . I tried all sorts of variations , grip pressures etc and no matter what I did I had the same result . SO I ended up switching to the standard target grip and haven't looked back . It's crazy how something can work for so long that one change throws it out the window .
  12. I use Pro Grip , but I also use something that isn't exactly " conventional " . One thing I found that works well is my rosin bag from bowling , it doesn't leave a ton of residue and my hands get so dry I end up having cracked skin pretty bad but it gets the job done nevertheless .
  13. I feel the same way , the demand of having a toddler and their activities is tiring . When I end up being alone it's refreshing but at the same time it gets pretty boring lol .
  14. Glad you're liking it so far because Tanfo's are the business lol . I shot a CZ for a while and in my personal opinion the Tanfo is better in just about every way EXCEPT for trigger tuning . It takes a little more work and effort to get the Tanfo right , not identical to some CZ triggers but close . Me personally I'm all about reliabilty vs having the hair trigger . I'm perfectly content with a 7 lb DA and a 2.5- 3.0 lb SA and keeping reliability because I shoot a mix of factory and reloads .
  15. I also have a Stock 2 and Limited Pro . I think ( for me personally ) the difference between the two is negligible as I seem to be able to track the same with both . However , I am curious about shooting a Stock 3 for more than just a mag or two . I have a buddy who shoots a Stock 3 and I fired two mags out of his just to try it and for me it seemed very nose heavy and didn't transition as fast . Again that is only with two mags so I would need some time with it for a fair comparison . I don't think you could go wrong with any of them really , but my personal preference is the Stock 2 .
  16. My reloads have improved drastically over the course of the last week or so after swiping a mag as fast as possible , turning rhe gun and eyeballing the magwell and as I start to insert I pause , rinse and repeat . By drastic I mean night and day difference . So much faster after doing it in certain steps I'm confident with it now .
  17. That's pretty cool , the lever rifle gives it a nice nostalgic feel lol . I would almost be tempted to say the hell with the pistol and go wyatt earp and run the whole stage with the rifle !
  18. I recently started shooting a stock 2 and was having some issues with the LPA getting it dialed in right . I went anywhere from 10 yrs out to 30 and it seems to do best and zero at 20 - 25 give or take . My issue is I still think the gun shoots a bit low for my liking but I cannot adjust the rear LPA any further so might have to start playing with fronts now .
  19. I have tried the angle method several different ways . bullets out angled rearward , bullets forward angled rear with the last 2 pouches either straight up or angled forward slightly and for me with how I grab mags bullets out and angled forward is awesome . You can strip mags from pouches really fast and at least for me it's very comfortable than the traditional setup .
  20. I'll be in Versailles for a week , maybe we can hook up and shoot . Cool, I'm up there occasionally. I'm in Louisville actually, so BGSL and Silver Creek are my two main clubs. I've got a couple of the Henning parts on my S2 you can look at if you don't get any by then.
  21. I have 2 pairs of insta molds myself . I have a pair of the acoustic filtered plugs for outdoor pistol shooting and I just throw on my pro ears over them if I'm indoors , as well as a pair of the ear bud plugs since I've been a trapshooter for many years . You get bored out there on a trap pad staring at trees or open fields lol .
  22. I haven't been that far south much but I'd like to come down that way and shoot there and Parabellum depending on my work schedule . I'll be in Kentucky at the end of the month so I may shoot the May 1st match at South Central if I can .
  23. How is the reliability so far ? I reload but I have a TON of factory ammo to burn so I'm not looking to get crazy on spring weights .
  24. Another vote for the BOSS hanger , I love the adjustability and versatility . I also have the Red Hill Tactical RHT and I like that one too , a little less adjustability but more simplistic and it's machined by Springer Precision so what's not to like !
