I wish I knew.  Our local helpers are suffering from burnout and we just aren't able to get new shooters involoved into the actual volunteerism part of the sport.

One day I'll need to check out YRPA (4 hr drive). Heard good things over there from the guys on the wetside 🙂

I wonder if it's due to supplies being hard to get, prices of said ammo and fuel? Around this area, we are seeing full Matches in 6 Clubs often, people got the  $$$$ to burn?  When we see new people, it's usually friends/family members/co-workers. I hope you all find some newbies and really see your Clubs grow, it's a great Sport.

  2. I've been using PDV2 124gr for about 1k rounds in my Open gun and all work great. Best way to find out is buy 100 and test. I've had 6 different Open guns and used, Montana Gold, RMR, Precision Delta, Xtreme, Black Bullets, Blue Bullets, Everglades and more. Currently running PD and Everglades 124gr. in my new gun. Find what works for you best.

I've found one of the things that has helped me progress this past year was shooting at different clubs. Yeah it's fun shooting with your buddies every month but it makes me complacent. I think going to random clubs adds a little intensity for me and I get to see new things that I'm not used to.

I agree with you on this Lighj. Fun to squad with your buddies, but I get too complacent about my part in shooting a good Match. All the small talk goofing around, then I'm on deck and needing to switch modes. I know there are Shooters that do well no matter the squad of buddies. I found I do better with a random Squad and less buddies. I find my focus.

Ouch. They are still selling 41s locally for $90/k and no one is buying them at that price.

    I wouldn't 🙃. But, desperate times....etc.

There are 2 forums I frequent in the Reloading Section Ore/Wa and primers are at 90-120 a thousand. Haven't took a bite yet.  Case of Fed 100 (5k primers) going for $600 🤨.

Hoping to see Midway, PV, Brownells, etc... sell for less than $75 a thou (might be a while).

  5. Finally got things sorted out. Had the barrel fitted and coated. I milled the slide cuts on my Mathews PM25 Mill, fitted all parts, made the Trigger and Gun Kote in Satin Black and Chrome Black (grip). Had a chance to shoot it today, about 400 rounds. Working good, a few bugs to work out, but looking good. Got all my fingers and no blood. That first shot on a new Gun, argh. Hold ya breathe go for it. Now for some trigger time and practice.

    1. Brazo XWF Fitted Frame/Slide
    2. KKM 5.4" Bull Barrel
    3. Cheely E2 Grip and Magwell
    4. Sig Romeo 3XL
    5. Tevo Mount
    6. Zig Racker
    7. Nitro Fin
    8. EGW Ign Kit
    9. Bin. Eng. Comp

Anyways, here's the obligatory pics. Peace.

@lastcat, thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately, the closest USPSA Matches to me are at least an hour away.

It is what it is. I drive 2 1/2 hrs sometimes, average about 1 1/2 hrs to each Range. 3 in Ore and 5 in Wa.

As a shooter, I appreciate the different drills that are posted. I have never done competitive shooting so I am unfamiliar with all these drills.

If you do get involved, there are many Ranges in your Area that hold USPSA Matches. Get the USPSA Rules book too and learn about how not to get DQ'ed. Was at Paul Bunyan, new young shooter, first stage and first Match ever. Broke the 180 while reloading, argh! Felt bad for the guy, but encouraged him to come back and stay with it. He did return.

Even when I started with a group of guys, I barely knew any rules at all, except the 180, finger in the trigger while moving loading/unloading, etc. But not really enough. It's great to see new people join the Matches, I wish there was a written test to help them before their first Match and to keep them/others safe. Go for it, it really is lots of fun. Some good people up in your area too.

I was acting as R.O. for an RFPO shooter this weekend at a local level 1 match. At the start beep, he fired a shot into the ground as he was coming up off the start cone. It was very low, nowhere close to the first plate, but obviously not within 10ft of the shooter. Should that be a DQ or not?

In this case you state it was, "no where close to the first plate". Was he aiming at the plate in your opinion? Possible inline from his shot hitting the ground to the plate? If not and in your observation if he was not aiming at a target, at the time of said discharge, then DQ:

10.4.6 A shot which occurs during movement, except while actually shooting at
    targets.

    whats the update on this?

I want to see the finished open gun product

    Oh ya?

Actually sent it off to JPL in Redmond, Wa to fit the barrel and cut a dovetail for the Zig Racker. He's busy with other work to be finished and will take a while before I see the gun again, I'm patient. As for the slide not going back, I just took a little off the Main Spring Housing and it fit, all good. I'll post a pic once it's finished, prolly in Jan or Feb.
