In my 308 SS 5R (1:11.25 x 24" barrel) I've been using:
75gn smk
LC brass, Cases trimmed to 2.015, primer pocket chamfered to remove crimp and on the bullet side of the flash hole.
CCI primer (not bench rest)
43.1 +/-.02 gn of varget
2.800-2.808" OAL
I'm fairly new to precision rifle shooting, but this seems to be quite accurate and safe for me. You would need to add a few grains for a non military case. I'm actually going out to work on the load a bit more today. I'm afraid I'm going to have to switch to a different case soon because of some issues with them from the guy I got them from. I'm probably going to buy 100 Lapua cases.
