  1. What a perfect topic for me. I am just beginning to dry fire and was wondering about such things.
  2. I had not read the book and really did not want to see the movie but a friend dragged me there. I am so glad. I really enjoyed it. The girl is "out there" but that works perfectly well in my opinion. I definitely think this movie should win some awards.
  3. #1 lesson...I don't have to have all perfect shots although I want to. There's fun in going faster as long as I don't crash and burn. For those not up in the M Class (as I am not) you have to push and see your limits and challenge those limits ever so often.
  4. Looks like it is time for me to get the book and then to get with it.
  5. Now that makes sense....the making the brass more brittle. Thanks for that answer.
  6. Okay guys, I too had heard that brass holds up longer than nickel but I was also told the nickel is a coating over the brass so that does not make sense to me. I do know that I have had old nickel brass that begins showing the gold color. Please educate me as to what this is all about. Nenette McHenry
  7. BE, I think the way you worded it is great. If I were to alter it I might way "Keep your focus on the sights"
  8. Does the brass cleaning toothbrush leave marks and if so does that cause any problems?
  9. Sorry but I don't know my parts well enough to say what I mean. I have stainless revolvers and the area where the barrel meets the frame and sticks out a little where the cylinder lines up with is all cruddy looking. What is a good way to get in there and clean that area?
  10. soaring22, Yes, my guns have been tuned but I really appreciated your response.
  11. Hi, I have some SASS New Vaqueros which, after about 10,000 rounds each of live fire and perhaps 1,500 rounds on each of dry fire, seem to have the hammer sticking once in awhile. Seems perhaps one out of 10 or 15 times one I drop the hammer it hesitates. I do slip hammer these pistols and until now have had no problem. Do you think it could be springs or what?
  12. The earlier they are told the better but at least, before they leave, if you can privately tell them you enjoyed shooting with them but that they may want to be careful (and explain about what) in the future so they are not unsafe and don't get DQued.
  13. Welcome to the board. Sounds like you have a nice stash of guns.
  14. Joe4D. How well does that stall matting hold up? I like the idea. How hsrd is it to get off and replace?
  15. Corey, I like what you said Max M. said about doing 50 percent at a slower pace. I know I sometimes get sloppy when I dry fire. Seems if I go from dry fire to a match I miss. However dry firing has helped both my smoothness and speed so if I get one live practice in between dry fire and match time I seem to do pretty good (for me).
  16. I see a case tumbler timer in my near future thanks to you guys.
  17. I love each and everyone of these replies. Great ideas. The only one that scared me before I opened it was I saw "service desk" had replied. My apologies to you as I did not realize it was your "name" on the forum but thought some service desk of the forum was not happy with my post. Now I am laughing at myself. Anyhow, thanks go to each of you for your suggestions.
  18. Thanks for the replies. I will likely go the route of a combination of slide guide and Mobil 1 depending on where I am lubricating.
  19. Hi, I bought my bore snake a long time ago and it is now dirty. Seems where I read it can be washed. Is this true and if so, what's a good way to do it and to dry it? Thanks.
  20. Georgous is definitely the way to describe it. I will soon sign up on paypal and get a ticket.
  21. Our range has little caliche rock and grass. Overall it works pretty well. What I don't like is it can pick up rocks and even cigarette butts. Also, one needs to open it up to get the contents out. However, if you get the appropriate size (a friend has one that is too big) they are nice, overall. Also, if amongst other people as you open it up you can whack them with the stick that is sticking out behind you. My friend paid the money to put a collaspable paint roller handle on his and that upped the price but made it neat.
  22. Title pretty much says it all. Would Slide Guide be good to use with my Ruger Single 6 revolvers?
  23. If you are not already using a timer then start using one in both live fire and dry fire. With dry fire you can set it to give a second beep after a given time you have set. Kept trying in live and dry fire to speed yourself up but not to get wild with your shots.
