Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. These are still kicking out ammo. They surplus auctioned them in the late 90s. I just love how smooth the RL1000 runs. I guess after this many rounds everything should be slick.
  2. I never knew that the primer slide had changed. Both of mine are in the 500 serial # range and the thin slide. Dillon I have always wondered what is the highest serial #/ how many RL 1000s produced? Back to the OP question I have not seen one sell since they are rare. I used to see some listed at what I thought was an extremely high price but I never saw one actually sell. I got mine as part of a package deal (good price for a 1050 with the 1000s thrown into the deal) also and never got around to selling them. You might have the same problem. I'll go with Merlin and guess about 1/3 of a used 1050 on price if you can find the right buyer. They would cost a fortune to produce now. I find them fascinating from a mechanical and manufacturing standpoint. They operate so smoothly I actually like them better than the 1050. The out of production and lack of parts will stop many from buying. You can search for Dillon 1000 and get quite a few threads on the RL 1000 in fact that is how I found this site.
  3. You might try this link. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...331&hl=1000 or this one. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...488&hl=1000 The 1000 is a good machine in my opinion, the downside is no parts support. I still like my 1000 better than my 1050 because it feels so smooth as I reload. The best search is probably user = tightloop and 1000 or user=dillon and 1000
  4. Lyman is my preference in manuals. They have a larger cast bullet loads section. On the jacketed side it is not tied to a bullet or powder maker preference.
  5. 1 sold on e-bay for $1200 in Oct. to much in my opinion. I think they are a great press better than my 1050. I paid less than that for mine I believe that they sold for $2000 + when new and in the 80s that was big bucks for a reloader. If you do a search for Rl 1000 a post or 2 give some history I don't worry about the 25 cent part breaking. They are built like tanks and I would have a machine shop fix/copy any problem parts. The priming system is not the same as a 1050 so if you needed a primer conversion that would be a problem. I wish I had a manual but I just wing it.
