  1. I live in area 6 where this is prevalent. I have shot & worked several matches within the area. As staff, it kinda sucks, but I knew that going in. There are always enough staff to where no one is “overworked” we rotate the duties. There is a compensation package (not much, but it pays the hotel & shoot for free), and a separate prize table for RO’s. I do this because I love the sport and it’s my way to give back while I can. As a shooter, it’s awesome. Usually comes along with small squads, so you shoot 9-12 stages in 1/2 day. No re-shoots because the guys buddy pasted a target, etc. all you have to focus on is shooting. That is nice.
  2. I run a 10MOA RTS2 on my open gun. I like that it’s large & crisp. I run it on a lower brightness setting if the stage has long (25yd+) targets. I had an 8MOA on my last open gun & I really like the larger 10 dot.
  3. They have had quite a bit of interest in a lefty grip. Several people asked while I was at the booth ay USPSA Nat’s. It is possible they will make one in the future, but not the near future. Quite a bit of re-engineering involved. I am so used to using my trigger finger to release the mags, that a left-handed setup feels weird to me. I also have tiny hands, so even if the release was on the right side, I’d still have to move my hand.
  4. It’s an illusion. When the round is ejecting, the slide is reciprocating further to the rear by a couple inches. No issues with the thumbrest (none that tuning the ejector and extractor didn’t fix).
  5. I run a Double Alpha AlphaX in USPSA Open division. It’s smooth, endlessly adjustable & when locked, there’s no way the gun is coming out. I’ve had a few really good wedgies to prove it.
  6. I am about to start loading up ammo for a falling steel match (not steel challenge). I was going to load up a lighter load, in the 140-150ish PF range for the match. But after a discussion with another shooter I’m thinking there’s no real advantage to a lower power factor because the major ammo drives down the steel faster. At this match there are normally several “stacks” of steel. Thoughts?
  7. I have a DS9Open & shot it at USPSA Nat’s last weekend. I had 2 malfunctions, both of which were “operator error” & not the gun. i shoot for team MPA, so take my review for what it’s worth to you… it’s the flattest shooting 9major gun I’ve ever shot. I’m using a 10 MOA RTS2 V5 dot. It returns to zero perfectly.
  8. thanks Doug. I spent a couple hours searching the past topics & responses and must have missed those. Really appreciate the help. at least that gives me a place to start.
  9. I have finally expanded my reloading set-up to include 40S&W. I am shooting a GLOCK G35 with a lone wolf barrel in USPSA Limited Division and am looking for a load that will make major power factor using Power Pistol. For some reason my chrono took a poo last weekend, so i cant test my loads until i get it replaced or repaired. I have a club match this weekend and would like to at least have some ammo loaded to be able to run that match. I have berry's plated 180gr bullets, CCI 500 primers, and power pistol powder. I have searched and searched but nowhere seems to have very much load data for power pistol. alliant's site was really no help, they only have 1 load listed for 180gr and it's for GDHP's at 1013fps. by my math, to make 170 power factor i need them hitting about 945-950fps. Anybody have a starting point for me on this one? It goes without saying i will get this worked up on my own to my gun, altitude, etc, but i would just like some input on a base line, or starting point.
