  1. Bruce weighs in https://www.facebook.com/100000287793289/posts/pfbid0BvSvYWYzAZLKZVoqrcL8iwvkx1HaLzKS7sQbdJrwzUzsLh9jsw22xqb648RxeRSvl/?mibextid=cr9u03
  2. Thanks for help! It turns out the two hex screws under the shell plate were loose allowing the ram head to wobble out of alignment. Tightened those down and fixed. I double checked all of Dillion's points for good measure.
  3. .45 to .223 and back....I changed all the correct parts.
  4. Guys, Just changed from rifle back to pistol and some of my primers are getting seated sideways. It looks like the shell plate is index .001 to far and the the edge for the primer is catching the shell plate as it gets seated turning it sideways. Any ideas on how to correct. Thanks, SDlocal
  5. that's .009......(i'm a jerk...)one of the problems with any press is that the actual stop part of the press stroke is only controlled by the shellplate contacting something. this is why sizing rifle brass on these things doesn't work very well. even dillon doesn't recommend it. i've seen kabooms..... even if the 650 shellplate hits some kind of die in your set-up, the toolhead moves a little. i've been using my redding comp seater die in my 550, and it works ok, but i have hard contact in station 1 w/ a lee decapper die, and hard contact in station 4 w/a redding taper crimp die(this die i like, just barely touches the neck), and that seems to lock the thing up pretty good, but the toolhead moves till it locks up, you dig? the .009 is something wrong, but i still have maybe .004- variance w/ 69 match bullets, unless i uniform the ogive. i still like doing everything on a single stage for better control, loading on a 650 on down has problems. now a 1050 would be another story, it's designed for rifle reloading....you got an extra $2000 you could lend me? i promise to reload your shizzit..... I size my brass on a seperate tool head that only contains the sizing die...
  6. Thanks, When I wrote that last night I was a little tired I am actually seeing 2.248 to 2.257...so it's a .007 variation...using mixed brass...still ok?
  7. Guys, I have recently converted my press to .223 when loading I have powder die, powder check die, lee seating die, lee fcd. I am seating to 2.250 and having variations from 2.248 to 2.250. I am using mixed brass trimmed on my Giraurd trimmer. Some cases are not trimmed as the are a tad below my trim length of 1.752. I made sure my shell plate was a tight as possible but it did not resolve the issue...can my mixed brass (pre-sized on a separate tool head) be causing this?
  8. Guys thanks for the info...I love this forum.
  9. All, I am getting ready to load some of these up but I want advice on powders to put behind a 75gr BTHP in 16inch barrel with a 1/7 twist. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hey All, Not a newbie when it comes to loading and I understand listed max loads. I loaded up some 75gr with 22gr of H322 and it still seemed pretty soft. I checked the primers for pressure signs and everything looked good. I don't have a chrono but was wondering if anyone had edge up this combo and if how far up did you go. I will test a few rounds @ smaller increments but was looking for any input....
  11. Not new to reloading but new to loading rifle. All the case prep as been done but the 55gr don't sit in the case as steady as say a 75gr boat tail. On a dillon 650 do any of you have tricks to get the bullet to stay while you raise the ram? I trim in a Giraud so the case is chamfered. Thanks for any tips
  12. Guys, My .45 cases are getting stuck in the case feed bushing located in the case feed arm. It seems as if the case feed slide (black triangular deal) is not pushing the case feed arm far enough in when the piston raises on the down stroke... Any ideas?
  13. I just installed a new 650 with poweder check. The powder check is working detecting squib and double loads. Problem: The sensor pin contacts the sleeve just barely as the sleeve comes up and causes a little chirp before settling into the groove on the sleeve. The bar that contacts the plate is adjusted all the way up. Powder throws are consistent. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
  14. Thank god for Steve J & Cautery! I was starting to think it was only me. If I shoot more than 200 rounds which is almost always, I do a complete detail strip and cleaning. I just like to do it. Sit at the bench in the garage fire up a cigar and go to work. Something about it is relaxing and the upside is my pistols are spank'n clean!
  15. Thanks everyone I will go back to Iso and work the suggestions I have gotten here and report back. This is a great forum............
  16. All, I am shooting IDPA and using the isosceles stance. My accuacy was not bad and mobility is obviously good. One day while during practice (static line shooting) I switched to a weaver type stance (turned sideways with left hip pointing towards target) I am right handed. Well my accuarcy up close and at distance increased dramaticaly...I mean a lot. So here is the question...is it possible or practicle to move and shoot this way? Any input on this would be apperciated. I would like to bring this improved accuracy to matches with out suffering to much in mobility. Thx.
  17. Joe, I tried titegroup and then moved over to WST both are good. WST fills the case and more and seems to be cleaner.
  18. All, Does anyone have load data for the bear creek 205gr Moly Lead flat point bullets? WST loads especially apperciated but I am interested in hearing what you've worked up. This smiley is too cool Thx in Advance!
  19. Really happy with 4.8 WST, 200gr moly SWC, 1.25 OAL and 468 crimp. Don't have to scrub my barrel anymore!
  20. Hello, I also shoot a 45 Trojan 5inch. Probably has 4,000 round through it. I have settled on 4.8 of WST with an OAL of 1.245 and a crimp of 468-469 pushing bear creek 200gr moly coated SWC. Super clean, super accurate, no smoke, no leading. I just run some patchs through and the barrel is clean! P.S. I sure do like my Trojan.
  21. I love my Trojan for $900-1,000 it's one of the best guns out there. Fit is tight, accuracy is good. I would change out the mag catch as it is higher than normal and can cause some issues with other mags, and I have standard grips, I don't like the thins.........Get it you'll be happy you did.
