I think the biggest driver in your search is your budget. Any idea what that is? That’s going to narrow down things quite a bit. I would stay with a tried and true 2011 platform but that’s me.

Thx to all for the advice, much appreciated.
Good luck! Let us know what you end up with.

Thank you! But I have to confess I have a good friend that's a CNC Master Machinist that made the "major" mods to my specs........

IF you did have an MPA, it would have taken a lot of "adjusting" to make the Cheely version fit!
I have heard that. You did well

Yea, RD makes a great looking and functioning trigger! What grip/pistol is yours in?
Cheely. Tried to get an MPA but they are way behind.

Being inspired by @scooterj's success at installing an Atlas trigger in an MPA grip, I decided that since I really liked the look and function of the Red Dirt USA triggers, I was going to see how much work would be involved in adapting one for an MPA SS grip. I decided the "Cheely" version offered the closest dimensions to the MPA; and that it might be able to work with some dedicated modifications; especially the OAL of the trigger bow which is quiet a bit longer on the Cheely .
My first observation is that MPA is dedicating the manufacturing of their grips to be a bit "proprietary" in order to encourage (?) shooters to use the OEM offerings for their replacement triggers. For my personal use, I like a trigger that has a fully supported bow rather than having the front of the bow aligned in the MPA grip's trigger bow channel by the height of the trigger shoe in it's dedicated track. I'm sure others feel my concerns are unwarranted........
After having a Master Machinist friend reduce the thickness of the front of the trigger bow, I was able to utilize the Red Dirt USA trigger, have all safety functions pass, and still have sufficient "pre-travel" to allow full function of the hammer's half cock with full disconnector reset!
IMHO, I think it turned out very nice and am in the process of field testing in the very near future. Dry fire, feel, fit, and function are excellent in bench testing!
Looks good! I have the same trigger

If it’s under $2,500 it would still be a maybe for me. Would need to find out as much info about it as possible. Also, the super old guns have older comp tech, etc.

I sent pictures of the dent on barrel and slide to Limcat...... Apparently that how the mark the parts to know which barrel goes to which slide after slide comes back from coating
That’s great news. Have fun.

I don’t get the appeal of the DWX? Either you want a 2011 or you want a shadow. The shadows shape is better I get that and the 2011 triggers are some of the best. I understand these two things but the slide on the DWX would be the downside for me if I was a shadow guy.
It shoots as soft or softer than any 2011 I have owned and is still the most accurate gun I’ve ever shot. Wish there was more parts support though.

i use my Atlas Artemis(sight block) for LO i like the sight block for me it keeps the gun very flat and that's what i like. i think all of this is personal preference and if possible shoot as many of these variants as possible to see what feels the best to YOU. also recoil spring tuning on guns can make a world of difference with the competition ammo you use. like most said 124g ammo is what most run its usually lowest PF factory ammo.
Thanks!

Got the gun and shot club match the same day ! Feels and shoots pretty good. Got pretty good results.
After inspection of the gun next day found a few thing that previous owner was aware of but did not tell me
Small chip on the slide and small chip on the barrel.... Does not look like cracks... But makes me little nervous.
That looks fine to me but ask Johnny if you really feel the need. I would just keep shooting it!

How are you mounting the 507comp to your PCC? TIA
Any SRO/RMR rail mount will work.

Let us know how it turns out.

Yes, try to message them on social media?

I'm curious on the bullet weights used. I have mostly shot 45s. For 9mm minor it seemed that a lot of shooters liked the softer feel of 147gr bullets. Shooting LO now and I've been using 135gr coated bullets. Thought they were a compromise without going all the way to the 147s. Have they waned in popularity? It seems I see a lot more shooters using the lighter bullets these days.
I started shooting IDPA years ago and everybody wanted heavy bullets and I always thought they felt good but wondered why the slide was slower to return. I think the majority of people shoot 124 or in that range now. 124 is a really nice all around feel and speed.

Yeah, it'll be like shooting a 4.25" gun for slide speed.
I had a couple sight block limited guns a few years ago and loved them. They were tungsten sleeved barrels but the slide action was super fast.

No idea how long they last with minor ammo. The ones I've experienced had not been very durable for major Open, but those guns break a lot of things that don't otherwise normally.
I messed with 115's in CO last year and they did ok, but I ended up back at 125s. 115's with heavy brass grips was interesting if you don't mind the weight (yeah, even centered in your hand there's a difference).
I’m not in a position to get a LO gun yet but am getting ready. Still have a lot of loaded 124g ammo.
The draw of a slight block gun is the smaller and lighter slide. I would imagine it would be nice.
-
On my journey, I too, have settled on the lighter bullets. I’ve been using 124, but I think I’m gonna try out some 115’s. I handled a steel frame Staccato P with an aluminum grip this week and it felt fantastic. When you say that the grips eventually crack, are you thinking 20 or 30,000 rounds?

I've tried everything from a 9mm Edge, 5" and 4.25" Prodigy/Clones to a 5" bushing-barrel Eagle with and without metal grips.
Fastest cycle time will probably be a 5" bushing barrel and light slide or a 4.25".
The heavy guns shoot plush but don't transition as cleanly.
Thanks! Also, what’s your opinion on steel vs aluminum or plastic grips? I’ve always used steel for open.

you’ll be hard-pressed to find better people than the Lim family. I would just be a little persistent in reaching out to them and they can talk to you about this specific gun and what they have done to it during service and things. -
For 2011 limited optics…I would like to hear experience related opinions on the pros and cons of each and what feels best and returns to zero better for you. The more I shoot the more I lean towards a slightly snappier faster to return gun over a super heavy slower to cycle slide/gun combo.

Have not tried the 507 Comp but I did recently get a FTP Alpha 3 and I’m really liking it so far. I’m a big fan of the Alpha 3’s reticle size options and brightness settings. Listed battery life isn’t close to the Holosun’s but they appear to have similar glass size & shape and cost about the same
I’m using both the FTP and the 507 comp. So far so good.

Not sure
You need to find out more info. Hbar means a tungsten sleeved barrel. Also find out if it has the turbo comp.

You can get "something" at that price but it may be wore out or very old tech. Keep looking. Hoping something pops up.
