  1. My major power factor load for my eaa witness is 4.3 hp38 behind a 180 lead bullet at 1.135" makes 170pf .
  2. Hp38. I use 4.3gn at 1.135" with a 180 lead bullet.
  3. I use Sony coin batteries from ebay or Amazon. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  4. Also lead is typically faster than plated or jacketed at the same load. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  5. Hp38 is my go to in 40. My major load is 4.3gn behind a summers enterprises 180gn lead bullet @ 1.135". What does this chrono for you? I only ask because it is below the starting load on the Hodgdon site for 180gr Berry FP's, which should be faster than a lead bullet. 930to 945 fps. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  6. Buy lots of primers! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  7. In my tanfoglio loading longer than 1.135 causes feeding issues.
  8. I shoot limited major I load 20 in my mags.
  9. I Have a tendency that once the buzzer goes off I run on mostly instincts and muscle memory. Last match on my last stage my stage plan went out the window fairly early and I reloaded early leaving me short 2 rounds for the last target. Somehow as I was moving toward the last target I instinctively reloaded and shot the last target. After I unloaded , clear, holster, I realized what I did and that I must have been counting shots Subconsciously. This was all in a 36 round 20 second stage. Typically I count shots during my walk through and plan my reloads. Then I try to only remember where the mag changes go instead of consciously counting shots. Anyone else ever catch themselves Subconsciously count shots?
  10. Being that it's your first match you should definitely show up early and let the people running the match know that it's your first time. They will go over the procedures with you and maybe squad you with someone experienced with helping new competitors. Also, leave your guns in their cases untill you talk to someone about their procedures.
  11. It's mostly just so friends can shoot together. The squad is the group you will shoot with throughout the match. each squad will be on a different stage at the same time. Then once everyone on your squad has shot the stage the whole squad goes to the next stage.
  12. 4.3hp38. 180 lead bullet. 1.130".
  13. We do a indoor pistol USPSA style stage twice a month in the winter. A lot of the guys also bring their 22lr ARs and run the stage w it too. Out of probably 100 different runs over the course of this winter I bet less than 5 were malfunction free. It seems like the conversions or even the dedicated uppers are very ammo sensitive and even with the good ammo are malfunction prone. The only one that I would say was mostly reliable was a s&w 15-22, not the conversion but the dedicated 22lr rifle.
  14. Hp38 is my go to in 40. My major load is 4.3gn behind a summers enterprises 180gn lead bullet @ 1.135".
  15. Thanks. This is reassuring. I'll stick w my length or maybe even try slightly shorter.
  16. Please let me know about his findings as far as length goes. I am happy with my 1.135" loads but have heard reliability is better w long loads. Maybe this was w a 1911 though. And lately I have been having a ftf every 70 rounds or so. I think it is worn spring related but want to explore bullet length as well.
  17. to start off I am loading 40 major for my tanfoglio. I use 180gn lead bullets. I had been loading at 1.135" but it occurred to me I had never done the plunk test on this gun. So I load a round to 1.2" to start and it plunks. Then I try 1.235" and it plunks. (Wax groove is exposed.) next I try the 1.235 in my magazine and it won't fit but the 1.2 does but with no wiggle room. So I'm trying to decide what oal to load to. My barrel will take anything that will fit in my magazines. I think I'm going to do my work up at 1.180. What length do you guys load your 40 major? Especially curious about others running Cz or tanfoglio.
  18. I have very good luck with a moderate crimp with xtreme 180s. My plinking load is 4.4hp38 @ 1.135".
  19. 180 summers enterprises lead bullet. 4.3 hp38 1.135".
  20. I'm not sure which recoil spring my gun takes. I think I saw somewhere 14#. And I keep reading about people "fitting" the spring to the gun by cutting it down?
  21. I have about 6-7k rounds through my witness elite match 40s&w. Split probably 50/50 between 150pf loads and 170pf loads. I figure it's probably time for a new recoil spring before this season gets into full swing. I'm not sure what recoil spring comes stock and If I should stick with stock or is another weight better? I will be shooting all major pf this year. Also, My last indoor match I had 2 ftf with the bullet going nose up and not chambering. I am hoping my recoil spring is getting weak and a new spring will fix the issue. I was shooting the same ammo I've been shooting when the failures occurred so I do t think it is ammo related. Any help here would be great. Thanks.
