I like Longshot for heavy loads. This is old data so do your own research, get three sources. Carrying reloads for self defense is not a good idea. It can get you in legal trouble. Spend the money on factory ammo. Check Corbin ammo for heavy loads.
  2. I have to agree, I had a Trubor and loved it but wanted a Grand master, they had been replaced with the DVC and I bought that and was not impressed.
  3. I was looking for the same thing but instead bought a reamer and did it on my own. I bought the reamer from Brownell's. But if you still want some dummy rounds, I have 124gr Montana gold bullets and could put some together.
  4. Good info. I have been using LongShot for over 17 years. Started using it for 38 Super and so I tried it with 9mm major. Worked well for me but I have had ROs say it's loud, not really a worry for me. I tried VV over the years but thought the cost out weighed the small benefit and I have a large cache of Longshot. My load is more than yours but my comp has some popple holes.
  5. My first opinion would be destroy it but at least have some fun doing that. My "how could I get that done" mind would be, compare and contrast and see if I could buy some screens or mess that might separate it.
  6. I run it in my 9mm Major and ran it in my 38 super. It was easier to find than Autocomp and I have so much of it, I use it for almost every pistol caliber. Very versatile and not that dirty.
  7. Attached one to my wall after I moved into a new reloading room. Hope I never have to use it. I vacuum my reloading room a lot to avoid any debris and dust bunnies to accumulate. I have always wondered if any tumblers have been a ignition point.
  8. I am all alone with this suggestion but also try 7.2 to 7.8grs of Hog Longshot. The load difference is if you have any popple holes.
  9. Hodgdon load data website shows a Longshot load of 9.5grs at 36,300 PSI and velocity of 1407. My only concern would be lead fouling but data shows you should be fine up 1400fps without a gas check.
  10. I like them better, IMHO, they are a better built bullet and the bullet profile works better in my barrels when loading long for 9mm Major.
  11. Thanks! Great info, that helps a ton!
  12. I am not comfortable doing that myself. I do have a friend with a lathe though, not sure where and how to get the proper reamer.
  13. What power factor are you hitting and any issues seen in last 200 rounds?
  14. Where and what specs did you use for throating the Czechmate? I am having problems with loading Montana Gold Bullets.
  15. I am having problems with bullet profile fitting the CM barrels. What type of bullet are you using for this load and do you mean that the bullet wait is max 120g or min? I am loading the CMJ 124gr Montana gold bullets but will need to find a different bullet for the CM or get the barrels reamed to fit this bullet profile.
  16. I start with the Redding .40 buldge buster and then use the .357 SIG dies. I have used Hornaday one shot to avoid any sticking in the dies but that is probably overkill. I seat and crimp in separate steps as well and then do a crimp test to make sure no setback occurs.
  17. Pretty common for me when reloading on my 650. I am curious about the mirror thingy you have there, can you send more pictures of that?
  18. I like long range shooting and FTR is a great option for what I want to do with calibers I know without going into the open category. I want to shoot heavier bullets and have done some research on twist rates for .308. I am looking for a semi-custom platform where barrel changes are something I can confidently take are of when barrels need to be changed. Can anyone suggest companies or people that can provide a whole platform for starters. I live in Minnesota and I know there are several barrel companies in the Midwest that I can get barrels when needed.
  19. PD? Link to deal please.
  20. $96 per 1K for CCI 400s $105 per 1K for CCI 450s
  21. I used the RCBS powder checker for awhile, had no issues so stopped using it, i now place bullet at that station to avoid powder spillage it i get a tough primer insert.
  22. Hodgdon Longshot. I used Longshot for 38 Super as well. Its a good all around powder similar to autocomp.
  23. You can reuse the primers, i wouldn't trust them for competition.
