  1. I purchased the 70* hoping it would be better and decided to try the 60* to push the envelope....
  2. Correct - it wasn’t intended to and wasn’t recommended by JP. So, if you want to run factory 115 ammo, the 60* locking piece seems good to go (but I want to test more). If you want to run low PF ammo, the 70* locking piece is about as low as you can go. Obviously, YMMV and you’ll need to test it with your particular load.
  3. I just had a range session and tested the 60° locking block and it works great with factory 115 and it’s very soft shooting. Locked back on every mag too. Came very close in recoil and dot movement to the 70* locking block with low power factor ammo. So I’m a happy camper with this locking block for my purposes. However, as expected, the 60° locking block won’t run low power factor ammo, since there isn’t enough force to extract and load the next round.
  4. I've had my 70* piece in for about 1k rounds and it is indeed softer. Try some lower power factor stuff (maybe some 147 or 150gr Syntechs) and you will just laugh Did they say what the firing pin change/problem was? First I'm hearing about this....
  5. Yes - I've shot min with the 80* locking piece and the lower power factor ammo (147 and 150 grain) shoots softest. With the 70* locking piece 115 ammo started shooting softer than my MPX and 150 grain syntech was very close to a heavier 22. I have the 60* showing up today and I'm hoping I can get factory 115 grain ammo to shoot reliably and softly but I'm not expecting the lower PF stuff to run great with it. I like to tinker so I'm not sure what I'll stick with but I can get 115 grain ammo at a lower price than almost anything else.
  6. I ran the 70* locking piece and it really took the edge off the 115gr reloads but I think a 60* would be better with them. I also ran a box of federal 150gr syntechs and they were SO soft shooting with the 70 and ran 100%.
  7. JP recommended I not touch the SCS at all and only play with the locking pieces....so, I ordered the 70* locking piece and I'm excited to try it with some faster loads (that I prefer but many won't/don't). I did take first in a local match this week and the JP ran amazingly with some hand loads. The JP5 is damn fast and the dot hardly moves. Now, if I can only pick up the pace on my transitions...
  8. I had two legions before and moved to the max last season - I really like the feel and it sold me on the romeo Max (and XL for my open gun). I did the sig armorer trigger and couldn't be happier - spent almost as much in GG, Armory Craft, Keres, and other trigger stuff and didn't get it as nice as the sig armorer trigger. Definitely go for the +10% trigger spring. I haven't fallen in love with the trigger but it's not holding me back based on my splits or placings at my local club matches.

This is the more "official" lightened striker but I've used a number of different glock springs successfully https://benstoegerproshop.com/walther-ppq-canik-tp-series-29-newton-striker-spring-by-sprinco/

Yes - with the lighter recoil spring, the striker spring strength can keep it from going into to battery firmly. The balance is tricky and I’m just now trying it again after giving up last season and just shooting my legion max. Try a 5lb (or so) Glock striker spring to see how it works for you. Hope this helps!
  11. No - it balances well with a mag in it but I don’t have the competition comp or the cooling fins (not sure they’re needed with a PCC). The factory stock is was too light and I prefer the solid and fixed LOP. I’m a fan
  12. It’s just my personal preference - it’s heavier but more solid than the adjustable stocks and the length of pull works for me (6’2 and a wide wing span). Same cheek height as the adjustable stock but helps balance it a bit better IMO. The full PRS stock is a lot heavier and didn’t work for me. It also matches my 3 gun carbine so it’s nice for consistency.
  13. It’s always hard when you want to shoot all the divisions Any idea what the power factor is for your load?
  14. Yes - just my personal preferences. I find the JP triggers a bit too heavy and prefer 45 degree throw safeties. The PRS lite stock adds a bit of weight to the back and is very solid. It’s still more than half a pound lighter than my MPX and the weight is to the rear so it swings very fast. However, the comp is pinned and welded from the factory so it’s not an SBR and it’s included on the “basic” all purpose carbine build: https://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=RR-JP5G940/TCAPC I would have liked the competition comp but there really isn’t much of a difference between them (according to JP). It’s still a 9mm through a long barrel so not a lot of blast to actually use for each shot.
  15. Both actually - the smaller spring is captured and the larger spring is uncaptured. I like my sprinco guide rod but it doesn’t lock up hard with a softer striker spring. I haven’t yet found the sweet spot yet between trigger break/weight and good lock up. I shoot my P320 max for CO and 2011 for Open more so I haven’t given it much time…
  16. [Long post, might bunch some panties, details and pics at the end] I’m lucky enough to be one of the first “regulars” to pick up a JP5 from my local dealer. Unless it’s winter, it can be sometimes good to live near JP and Arnzen Some context: I shoot some local PCC (but mostly CO and a bit of Open pistol) and have a GMR and a newish MPX competition. I have owned a number of PCCs from MP5s to Scorpions to B&T APCs and others. Unpopular initial take: I shot the MPX and JP5 back to back a few times over this weekend and…well, the MPX shoots softer and flatter with factory 115 ammo (Norma and Federal). I know this will be an unpopular take, but that’s what I felt (along with a few other folks) with 4 types of factory 115 ammo. The JP5 was flatter shooting than my GMR but the MPX had it beat. Split times were in the same ball park for all three but the recoil impulse wasnt great for the JP5. With the factory loads, it flung brass far so it seems like the locking piece wasn’t quite right for 115gr at ~1200 FPS. After the first few mags, I wasn’t sure I spent my money well….and it was a rare JP letdown. But I was wrong… A buddy offered up some Federal 150 syntech, the JP5 was BY FAR superior and it came alive! It shot a lot like an MP5 in feel and recoil impulse but softer and faster. My MPX won’t even run the 150 syntechs well. The difference was literally laughable - everyone who shot it laughed their asses off. It was unbelievable and still processing all of it. With some hand loads I bet it runs amazing. I’m smitten…. I was pretty skeptical about it after shooting factory 115 ammo and hope a 70 degree locking piece becomes available shortly from JP so I can do some tuning for some faster hand loads (I like them for longer shots). Otherwise, a hand load with a heavier bullet around 130-135 PF would likely be great as it comes with the 80 degree locking piece. The JP5 is a game changer - I’m now a believer…and now need to sell my GMR so I can afford the thing. A few details for those interested: - You can’t run cartridge triggers at this time. Even JPs versions. There’s a lever inside the lower that makes cartridge triggers not possible (see pics). I’m running a Geissele 3 gun and it works great. - The barrel is not a slip fit like the GMR - it’s threaded in so hand guard changes are a bit more complicated (not sure if they are cryo fit or not). - The silent capture spring is just two steel weights and is very light. Quite the opposite of the blitzkreig and tungsten weight I run on my GMR. JP recommended I not mess with it but a few folks in the know seemed to think otherwise. I won’t second guess it for now and think the locking piece is a better (and simpler) answer. - The ergos are awesome for left hand mag releases the left side mag release is in a good spot. The right hand (well, right finger) bolt release works great with not a lot of pressure. - It runs a radian MCX charging handle - says so right on it with the JP logo as well. Interesting and nice that it’s not a proprietary part. - The quality and fit and finish is typical JP - excellent and it makes me feel bad when I pick up the MPX. Anyway, I don’t post much but didn’t see a lot from regular joes with a JP5 so figured I would share. Let me know if you have any questions until the specifics are more available.
  17. I have tried the Apex, Grayguns, and now have the sig armorer trigger. None of them are *needed* and the factory trigger can be trained around and is pretty good on the Legion. I don't find a huge difference in split times between them (I have the GG kit on my backup CO gun) but every mental aspect can help. Not as much as dry firing thought That being said, the Sig Armorer trigger is amazing but comes at a high cost and you'll be without your gun for a bit...
  18. Not that I've seen - just springs for the striker. (And hello to Fremont! I grew up there....)
  19. I just picked up a set of the palm swell as well and they are awesome. I liked the gun before but now I really love it...
  20. I really like the system in my Q5 SF and I actually went back to the yellow after the white which was a bit faster and improved lock up
  21. I got the factory plate and it's sky scraper tall. As much as I don't like CHPWS (bad CS, in consistent quality, lots of half truths) they make a great plate and it really does lower the optic and uses the Zev bosses for the SRO. https://photos.app.goo.gl/CDSsEmfBe3wv3mtQ6
  22. I went with the sprinco and it's really only good with the white spring (otherwise it's too close to factory and still over sprung). It's easy to install (well easier than the ZR at least) and works well.
  23. I don’t run irons on it (SROs are pretty reliable from my experience) but I’m sure a set can be put on to have a very low co witness as backup. Dawson can get you any height you want…
  24. Yes, the springer plate works just fine and is a less expensive way to do it. I have the Zev Octane slide and barrel and I love it. I run and SRO and it's a LOT lower AND it covers the back of the barrel so I don't get any blast on the glass. It's expensive but it was a worthy investment for me (I have one in X5 and one on a Legion). I've run both in CO and they work great. The regular X5 size is my back up and general use gun (since it's lighter).
  25. You are correct! Sorry, I wasn't clear about what I meant - I run a Zev slide on my X5 since it let's me direct mount an SRO and get it a lot closer to the barrel. The GX Vice X5 holster does not work with some aftermarket slides like the Zev.
