  1. mehhh looks like a waste of money. run a powder check die or use your eyeballs.
  2. In addition Dillon instructed me to turn the die down an eighth turn at a time until case fit correctly in the gauge. There is some more cam over but the tech explained it to me like this. You have to move the toolhead and the shell plate which actually does not appear to move much at all so per Dillon that small amount of tension is okay.
  3. Here are a couple videos I just made to show how I process my 5.56 brass
  4. I'll put the std sizing die in station 1 then. I'll give it a try if your not having brass spinning issues. I'll report back next week sometime as I'm leaving town. Thanks, Thomas
  5. i was under the impression that we werent to cam over on the press due to shellplate flex?
  6. just going through some stuff and getting ready to get my 650 setup for 5.56 brass prep. I setup my toolhead with the dillon rapid trim 223 trim die for my 1200b. i go ahead and take my freshly sized case that just went through my trim die and drop it into my dillon case guage. the case head is even or just slightly proud of the top of the case guage indicating not enough headspace. the problem is the die body is screwed down all the way and touches the shell plate at the top of the press stroke. i compared my brass to some comercial 5.56 that i had on hand and the comercial stuff drops down further into the case guage and actually rests just proud of the lower shelf on the case guage. can anyone point me in the right direction. i cant bump the shoulder back any more with the dillon die. is there something im missing?
  7. Get the strong mount and load standing up if you have to. The 650 is really a great machine even if you don't load at much. Some people load to simply make shooting cheaper and to get high volumes of ammo. I'm in the other group in which I do it to get better quality ammo tailored to my gun cheaper and also because I really enjoy the process and the machines in general. Would a 550 have met my needs? Yeah sure it would have but the 650 is awesome and a pure joy to load on. And on e you pick up your shooting volume you will be loving the 650. Hell I'm close to getting a 1050. I've been shooting a lot more and I love the machines. It's all up to you. Eventually the press WILL pay for itself.
  8. Always been a round trigger bow kinda guy
  9. Right at case mouth crimp measures about .3785
  10. If anyone can help me figure out the possible causes I'd appreciate it. Powder is 4gr titegroup. Col is 1.130. Crimp is only a couple thousandths. Function is perfect. Ejection is normal and consistent. Velocity is measured at average 1060fps. Gun is gen 4 g19 Any ideas on where to start?
  11. Okay. I chronod a bunch of loads with titegroup and settled on 4 grains. Ave velocity is 1050 fps. Shot on paper it is showing to be very inaccurate and 7 or 8 keyholes out of 30 rds. Gun is glock 19 Loaded to 1.130" col. Couple thous of crimp. These are bear creek 135 gr lrn moly bullets. Any ideas?
  12. my favorite color was always blue when I was a kid. green was a close second. started with a rockchucker for a long time. have a 650 now. soon a 1050 for 300blk conversions etc
  13. Hey all, Just wondering if anyone has a decent load worked up for this combo. Bear creek supply moly coated 135gr lead round nose bullets. going through my glock 19. but will also be using these in my 9mm ar sbr with the suppressor. the powders I have on hand are Winchester autocomp and titegroup with cci 500 primers Thanks, Thomas
  14. my 650 has been a huge time saver. considering I used to process by hand 1k cases of 223 at a time on a rockchucker single stage. it was pretty terrible. I can still feel my fingers hurting when I think about it. best thing I ever did was buy the 650. now im looking at a 1050 and making my 650 dedicated pistol most likely.
  15. I love my ar gold trigger. Have geiseles and shot cmc.
  16. Is the main advantage to processing on the 1050 the leverage or is it the swaging. It seems as though swaging is and could be done on either processing or loading. Just wanting to understand more clearly so I can make a good decision. I don't want to go sell off a bunch of my toolheads for my 650 and regret it later. Also with respect to converting lc 556 to 300blk. Is that also a consideration for which press to load on? I've just heard loading on the 1050's is a dream.
  17. Hey all, Been lurking for quite some time. Ive been thinking about picking up a 1050 to complement my 650 in my loading endeavors. Im trying to figure out which format I want to load in. Currently the plan is to convert all of my 650 toolheads to brass processing. In other words remove all the powder measures etc and fit the appropriate decap, size/trim die, neck expand etc in the toolheads. I was then going to use the 1050 to load all of the processed brass. I know it is easier to swap toolheads on the 650 etc but I was wondering what if any benefit there would be to processing on the 1050 and loading on the 650 instead? Also do note that soon I will be using one or the other for bulk converting LC 556 to 300BLK Thanks, Thomas
