  1. Do any of you guys know APOC Arms? I was thinking about this setup. Not perfect but not bad for a first AR. http://apocarmory.net/collections/ar-15-complete-upper-assemblies/products/16-223-wylde-upper-with-key-mod What is better .223 WYLDE or 5.56 NATO?
  2. Does anyone have a suggestion for a reasonable ar15 upper assembly in the $300-400 range, I'll go lower if possible. I have read and researched a bunch of different options and I do have an idea of what I want. I might go with a custom build, but I do want any suggestions or opinions, and I you you all have opinions.
  3. How do 3 gun competitions work in California. Are there different rules for working around the bullet button and 10 rnd mags? Are shooters handicapped for the additional time needed to change magazines?
  4. This thread was a great read. I am at the same place you were, starting from zero. There was some great advice and I can't wait to get to the range.
  5. This is absolutely right. I come from motorcycle racing and "Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast" as our mantra. Practice the fundamentals until muscle memory takes over. Speed will come when you stop having to think about what you are doing.
  6. I guess that at 49 you guys would call me a young un'. It has been over 20 years since I picked up a fire arm, but the bug has truly bit me and I am raring to go. I just don't know exactly how to get started in competitive shooting. I hope to start competing before before 55. I just need to get my act together.
  7. If you didn't guess, I hail from Northern California., Sonoma Ciunty to be exact. I have been away from shooting for about 20 years, but I am getting back into it now. At almost 50 years young, I want to start training for combat shooting matches. I currently own a Kimber .45, maybe not the best competition gun, but I prefer big slow rounds to small fast moving ones if I ever have to use it for real. I am about to have my local gun shop start an AR-15 build for me. Do I have questions? You bet, but I will post them in other sub forums. That's it, I just wanted to say howdy and introduce myself.
