  1. The question here is: Are reloading supplies cheaper at gun shows or the big stores. I have to work saterday so on sunday I can make a trip to cabelas or the gun show, but only one. Which, do you think, would have better prices on powder and primers?
  2. I'm using a dillon 550 and have had the die get sticky. When I set the bell I go just enough to get the bullet to sit good. I also use the used dryer sheet to polish it up every so often, my thought is to get a little lube there.
  3. I find that cost per round is not bad at all. It can be used in all the pistol rounds I shoot and covers the shotgun too. I seem to find it without too much hunting. If your not shooting major it seems to work. Let's see what you guys have to say about it?
  4. I must say I love unique! I have no need for making PF and it seems to work for any pistol (auto) or shotgun. The biggest reason is I can make a great .45acp 230gn with it.
  5. I noramally get what I can but I always try to keep some Unique around. I mostly shoot 9mm, 45acp and shotguns. I don't shoot compatision so it will work for everything. So when I can't find what I want, I still get trigger time.
  6. On a major .40 ,if the powder lights, I can't see how the primer is the problem. Are you getting a full burn on your powder? Is the round that doesn't cycle, still hitting on target? Have you cleaned your powder feeder lately to make sure charges are consistent.
  7. The Stormlake 4.95 are made for the 4.25 slide. But I'm poor and can't afford an after market barrel anytime soon. I did noticed M&P Pro stock barrels from shooters going with after market barrels are cheap. Yes I did notice the taper but read you can add an O-ring to take up the slop. The info I'm getting hear is that it will fit and shoot and the bullet will go in a general down range direction.
  8. I added some star lock washers to the roller handle to solve the twist problem on my 550.
  9. People come in different sizes. So this being said there is no one size fit all. I used a harbor frieght wood work bench that was close to the size I needed. I added adjustable feet to it, to level it and change height, added a peg board back to help with wall mounting. Installed the 550 with hard mount. I use a stool, so I set the correct height for me, then bolted it to the wall. It works like a dream. I will have to post pics one of these days.
  10. I think the one extra a 550 needs is a bullet feeder. I have a 550 with the BE as it should be setup. When I get to my zen state, the only thing that slows me down is when I grab the bullet wrong. Yes only seconds, but it breaks my rythum. Brass not a problem, give it a last look and off it goes.
  11. If your going to reload one caliber in mass go with a 650. If like myself you reload many calibers 550 is great. You can use any standard thread dies in these two dillions. You will have to buy the caliber conversion kit and it comes with the powder funnel/expander so you should be all set. I went from a single stage to a 550 and love it. If your does have a seprate crimp die even better, but it works fine when you seat and crimp. If my primer tubes are full, I can kick out 500 in an hour (I only have 5 tubes of each size).
  12. Thats how I do it. Also if you run one case or no cases it acts funny, when full she runs smooth.
  13. My favorite load is unique with 230 plated, seems soft and always right on target. I have been shooting that load since the 1980's and can't find anything that comes close to the perfect feel and power.
  14. I am thinking about making 45 auto bullets. I was going to swage 40's the closest drill to .45 is .4531 all the bullets I have seen are .452 on the high side for an auto pistol. I have read some wheel gun shooters use .453 for tighter groups. Could there be a big problem going up as long as it chambers?
  15. Since it is a lee mold, the lee seater might work perfect?
  16. I picked up a k of spmp's and just wondering if there could be any major problems using them in 9mm?
  17. Give it a chamber check and if it fits it ships. You may cause more stress on the case and they will wear out quicker. If bullet is centered in the case with no cracking of the case, just check dimensions should be NP.
  18. For target plinking I use the berry's with no problems. If you want to save some money check cabelas they are cheaper than buying direct from berrys. Down side: I wait for free shipping. And they sell out fast.
  19. This is why I was planning to go with steel dies if I chose the 223. What is the advantage of carbide if I am lubing the cases either way?Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk The carbide dies will probably outlast you.
  20. I didn't think it would get that far/function without the spacer?

    I found it

Someone on the forum used the phrase, and I thought there had to be a meme for it.
  22. I spent some of my army time in AT (anti-tank), I had 5 A10's at my beckon call, if shtf. It was a very comforting feeling.
