While we're on the subject. . .
When hanging the banners for Outer Limits, the banners take up about 13' from end to end. Is that what you guys come up with?

I just pulled them out of a box and would like to start using them but they never came with instructions. I searched here, watched a few video here and on steeshotbanners.com, all mention standing at 5' and 10' with the top of the round targets set at 5' off the ground. However, I have no idea what targets need to be set up at the 5' or 10' distances. Does anyone have the instructions that are mentioned in the videos? Can someone please attach a copy? Thanks in advance, Alan
PM me an email address and I'll forward you a copy.

I can't offer specific advice, but I would recommend contacting Brian at Hunter's HD Gold as well. I have typical age related presbyopia and some astigmatism with a mild correction required for distance. I use my HD Golds primarily for Steel Challenge(CO, RFRO, PCCO) and couldn't be happier.

I use One Shot, there is still some residue on my ammo after loading. I tumble for a few minutes as well to finish them up.

C-More is the way to go for Steel Challenge. I bought both of mine used. One is an 8moa, the other a 6. I prefer the 8moa but the 6 is ok too.

Good thing we have youtube experts to keep us "gunsmith" morons in line.

Nice touch repeatedly dropping the hammer with the slide removed.

I would check GB for completed auctions and see what they went for. Unless it comes with a bunch of extras, I'd be thinking no more than a grand before tax etc. I'd also look closely at condition, most of the ones I've seen come up for sale have seen hard use and show lots of holster wear, etc.Local store has a used “in like new condition” Shadow Target II listed for $1,299. A new one can be had for $1,399.
What is a realistic price to offer and pay if this pistol is in very good condition?

Gallant had Black Friday flash sales.

I've watched most of P. Kelly's box to match YT videos. At those matches, he shoots a lot of stages that are different but have a similar style to SCSA stages. If I was going to shoot outlaw matches or stages, this is what I'd be looking for.

My former club has monthly steel matches similar to the one described by Hoops. When I started shooting them a year and a half ago they averaged 15- 20 shooters. By the time I stopped going it was down to 3-5. We typically had one large stage with as many as 20 targets or more and a smaller one(maybe) with 5 or so. Fee was only $10 and if only a few people showed up there was no charge. Round count was 180-200. I enjoyed it at first, but it quickly became boring which led me to Steel Challenge. I'd rather have multiple stages with fewer targets than one big stage.

Yes, the "B" indicates a firing pin block. Remove the slide and look at the underside. You'll see the plunger.

If it truly will hold 21+1 of 40 in legal length mags that don't have to be constantly tuned that right there is a win.
Huge cost difference in mags compared to the 2011.

Teammatchtracker.com

I have never shot any match of any kind. I like the steel challenge style and was wondering which one to shoot my first match, meaning pistol or PCC. Which is easiest to comply with the rules?
Just wondering if you shot your fist match yet? Which class did you decide on?
I shot 2 matches in CO first, then added PCCO for the next match. Then I brought my 10/22 and shot RFRO and PCCO. Shooting 2 guns can be fatiguing in the summertime so I just brought my PCC to my last match(1st level 2). For me the rifles require less effort and truth be told, are better for my ego. I think that's why you see more rifles used at the matches I attend.

If you want to reduce travel and reset, there are two threads on the CZ Forum about using shims to do so. If you have basic welding and filing skills you can achieve those results without using shims. Made a world of difference on my Scorpion.

The classification system is "stupid and broken" because Mrs. Moto is a great shooter? I don't follow. That said, I'm new to this, so maybe I don't have enough experience to understand(not being sarcastic).
As I said, I'm new to match shooting(1.5yrs) and 5 matches total in SC. The classification system and repeatability of the stages is what initially attracted me. At this point in my development, I like having something quantifiable to measure/compare and strive for.

The AL state match was my first level 2 match, I think my 7th match in total(5th in pcco). I was pleased to find that I could sign up to start on the stage of my choosing. O.L. was my second stage, so fatigue wasn't a problem for me. Mental errors were.

The S2 is nitrided under the polycoat, so no worry about rust. The urban gray polycoat is known to be less durable than the black. I would call CZ-USA, but you probably won't like the warranty turn around(5-6 weeks).

Would require fitting. Even if it fit, decocker is unsafe without a firing pin block.

Well, somebody has to say it, so I guess I will. Why do you think a sport or anything else should be catered to you? I certainly don’t forsake anyone’s life shortcomings, but the point becomes similar to arguing to have nascar change all its rules so someone blind can race. If you aren’t able to involve yourself in a sport due to physical limitations, whether beyond your control or not, why insist IT change so you can be competitive? There is no way I could play ice hockey, I can’t skate. Do I insist they change to shoes? Changing the whole sport? I could learn, sure, but I certainly can’t play NFL football. I would never be able to get in shape at this age to do that, so do they have to change to flag football? No. Because I simply cannot be competitive in that sport. Is it fun to play these games at a level I consider fun? Absolutely! All areas discussed here are capable of enjoying steel challenge. Even seriously when comparing against oneself to track improvement and have times to beat, even if a 4 second penalty is in the equation. You can’t enter yourself into a competition and ask everyone else or the sport itself to change. If you have limitations, enjoy the game at the level you can, but don’t insist on changing things because you want to now somehow be competitive at a sport you knowingly simply aren’t cut out for in the beginning. I am all about assisting any shooter into the sport. Whether it be a new shooter out there his first time, or the guy in the wheelchair. But don’t tell me stages have to be thrown out or done away altogether due to conflicting issues of knowing you can’t do everything when you entered and then insisting you should be allowed to be competitive by handicapping ALL the other competitors to meet your standard. Enjoy it at your level.
As for the sand, gravel, mud, and other differences in terrain, sure, in harsh conditions there may be a little difference. Personally, I have learned (and still learning) the better you get at it the less these things matter. The two largest mistakes in outer limits is moving to abruptly, or too fast and crashing the second box. I have shot in the 3’s on gravel. And my feet did not slide, leaving the first box, nor entering the second. In the same match one of my flights WAS a disaster due to sliding on the gravel, because I did it wrong. Outer limits is the hardest stage out there. Maybe that’s why so many people complain about it and want it changed. Reality is, it does separate the field. It separates the field not only by including agility, timing, and even athleticism, but by who has practiced it enough to do well. If you can’t physically do it due to impairment, I understand and don’t belittle, but that’s our game. You chose to enter. If that’s the case, have fun! Steel Challenge is enjoyable at all ages, skill levels, and physical abilities.
Hope me I didn’t offend, certainly was not my intention, but this thread was overdue for a dose of reality. Outer limits may very well go away, but it’s here now. See you all out there. Best of luck!
Well said!

I've been loading Gallant 135's/3.5 gr of sport pistol for a while now. Very happy with this load for PCC.

I agree with you. The stage is a simple but nice bread and butter drill for these very things.
I'd hate to see it go. Can't say I'd want more stages like it, but a little movement adds a welcome challenge and keeps things interesting.

Anybody using this system? Likes/dislikes? I was all set to build my new reloading room, but I'm thinking it'll be postponed a while. So now I need to consolidate/save space until i can build what I want.
