A disconnector in a SAO gun? Why?
-
And yet Troy says he doesn't make the rules, he only enforces them.

No movement, additional stages, shorter distance...
Why not just find a Rimfire Challenge match?
It's unfortunate that Outer Limits is hard for older people. I was always under the impression that physical tasks become more difficult as we age.

your classification does not change when the peak times change. if you made gm 8 years ago when it was easy, you are still a gm. i personally don’t care about this or other classification related issues. show up and shoot big matches, if you win, you bad. if not, go practice more.

While you shouldn't wait for the ring, it's still nice to hear it. I'm using the 3M Peltor TEP-100's with the foam Skull Screws. I find these comfortable and the batteries last all day. They fully charge in a few hours and the charger takes 3 AA batteries. When I step to the line I hit the button to amplify the sound. When doen turn it back to normal for standard conversation.
I am not a fan of having my ears completely enclosed, especially in the summer. Plus, most electronic muffs are not stereo so it's hard to tell which direction sound is coming from.
Where did you get the skull screws? I can only find them in large quantities.

Can someone tell me why they can't just make a "super" GM class for the people who are above 100% and actually compete for tier 2/3 match wins?

Bitterroot Gun Leather on FB. Books are closed right now, but Caleb is your guy.

Because disabled competitors simply cannot compete on equal terms in 99.99% of all sports.
Steel Challenge could be one of those 0.01% if they changed a single stage.
Or maybe they could just fix the penalty...

A couple weekends ago I squadded with a junior shooting GM class times with a 4.5lb 10/22 and a grown man shooting B class times with a 3lb 10/22. Weight didn't seem to be a factor for either of them.

Nah, the Flying M stage still had some movement required.
Maybe add a stage with a recliner.

Not a fan of the grip either......I've got a tandemkross grip coming for it. Worst case, I'll wrap with something if the new grip fails to work out
TK grip is a big improvement over oem.

This may be an odd question, but I’d like a little insight on personal experiences.
I’m going to my first SC match this weekend in years and I’m sure I’ll have much more fun than before as I’ve ramped up my dedication to shooting sports since getting back into it. If I do have as much fun as I think I will, would it be worthwhile to sign up for the area 8 championship that’s going on down the road for me. My thought process is that it gets me all 8 stages vs 4 at my local match and I get to see first hand experienced shooters. It would also be my first big match attendance.
What is your take on this? Too early to attend something like this? Better to spend the match fees on more smaller matches? What did you gain/lose from going to a bigger match? Whatever you have to offer.
I’d be signing up for CO division if it makes any difference. I am currently unclassified and won’t know what I officially earned until next week but I’m not shooting for the moon. I’m hoping to see a solid C or low B run but that’s easy to say before the buzzer goes off. Time will tell.
Thanks in advance for any input!
If you don't have any problem navigating your local SC match, you won't have any problem at a level 2 match. Everything is the same except there will be more shooters and likely stricter R.O.'s . You'll see plenty of C and D class shooters there, so don't worry about that. I shot a level 2 match my first year and had a great time.

First: As long as you are safe and know what you are doing, you don't slow things down enough for people to care. If you have shot over 5 matches and don't need anyone's help to get through a match, you won't hold things up at a big match. Don't worry about that.
That said, major marches usually have more difficult shots than routine club matches. If you struggle to make all of the shots at a level 1 match, you aren't ready for a major. They have lots more partials and usually have faster swingers.
This is the Steel Challenge sub-forum.

I'm not comfortable squadding with someone shooting major pf with jacketed ammo. Not worth the risk, so I would just change squads.

Hopefully it's fixed now.
Thanks for sharing! The videos are great and her improvement is impressive. I just picked up an AAP01(like a 22/45) and airsoft Steel Challenge set up for my daughter(11) and I to use. She's been shooting a 10/22 in SC for a year but isn't comfortable shooting pistols yet. Hopefully this will get her going, then we plan to start her in RFS matches to introduce movement.

Here are a couple of video's of my 7 year old daughter. I didn't see anything against it, but moderators, please delete if not allowed.
First "stage" with movement:
Same stage after some practice:
Day 2 of Practice on a new stage with holster. Need to find something shorter !
Still have plenty to work on, such as trigger finger awareness during holstering and transitions, but she loves it, and it lets her start learning and make mistakes safely. I wouldn't let my 8 year old boys do this yet, because they haven't developed the maturity to listen and carefully follow instructions yet.
Videos are set to private.

I have one that had a tight chamber, so not a sporter as purchased straight from the website. Confirmed by plunk testing Minimag, Force, and several others.
-
I loaned mine to a new shooter for a S.C. match last month. No issues, and he liked it enough to buy one for himself.
I have another pistol I prefer for S.C., so my TX is now set up for RFS matches.

Home Depot sells a clear plastic one with partitions that fits 6 mags perfectly. In the tool dept by the tool bags/carpenter belts.

I think Go Fast don't Suck has kits for steel challenge too.

If you want precisely scaled/laid out dryfire targets, the gfds targets aren't that. When I asked them for layout instructions, I was given some loose "close enough" guidelines. Anybody that seriously shoots steel challenge, or cares enough to invest significant time for SC dryfire practice will quickly realize that "close enough" doesn't work well at all.

They only honor their warranty if you buy direct. Mine broke soon after I bought it.

Now that the 2021 season is almost over, I thought I'd update my experience with the CP33. Still reliable in matches(2 per mo), but I've had to replace a couple more mags due to cracked feed lips even though I always store them unloaded. I do load them the night before a match, but that is the only time they sit loaded.
I'm also on my third bolt/buffer assembly. The buffer has rubber inserts in a 3d printed plastic block, which starts to crack around 1500-2000rds. It hasn't affected reliability and Keltec warranty is quick so far. They wouldn't sell me a spare buffer, which is a little disappointing. Overall I still love the gun and will shoot it next season as well. In my experience, it's one of the more reliable rimfire pistols at matches I attend.

I have a 75 that has slightly offset front sight pin holes. I'm certain I'm not the only one.
T5 Disconnector on a TSO?

The single action break relies on the interface between the hammer hooks and sear. Plus, the TS trigger bar is different than the 75...how would you make a 75 disco fit?
