  1. How about these ... (5Star and SpeedBeez) ?? http://www.amazon.com/Speed-Beez-Frame-Loading-Block/dp/B00HZUGLGU http://www.pistoleer.com/5star/speedloaders/357/#X6SHOT357 Must be more somewhere ...
  2. Mine are very close ... I can see the mag release sticking way out ... just wanting a hair more to snap in place. I am going to take the rear corners down a tad on one of these basepads and see if I can't get them in service ... looks like the rear is the only place they are touching. Always nice to have extras in the bag ...
  3. Well ... the "Canadian" mags I received most certainly aren't superior. The May 2015 Pro Custom mags that I have work just fine with the DP extended pads ... with no fitting and hold 21 reloadable rounds ... but ... they are a tad long for the mag length gauge ... (OK for a steel match but the regular pads go back on for a USPSA match and that is OK for classifiers ... stages with short round count mandatory reloads etc .. My MBX and two SPS do the heavy lifting). Anyhow ... "these Canadian" mags have very shallow feed lips ... You can see in the photo .. the "Canadian" is on the left and you can see the difference in the attitude of the bullet compared to the Pro Custom on the right (the "Canadian" lips are shorter in length too …). Other than that .. the new Pro Custom mags are shiny and a little longer ...
  4. They fit the gauge but that is all! Just got them in today ... (glad I don't really need them ... sigh ...). Anyhow ... they are a tad shorter than the factory mags that came with my 16.40 Pro Custom (May 2015). They have "made in Canada" stamped on the body ... and fatter base pads than the ones that came with my gun. They hold 17 rounds easy ... just like mine ... because of the fatter (deeper) basepad. With Dawson extended basepads they fit the EGW gauge (141mm) ... but won't seat in my Para Pro Custom ... (won't seat with their own pads on either). They seat fine (with either basepad) if I take the magwell off. The "deep" basepads that came on them are kinda neat ... and fit my magwell when installed on the "original" Pro Custom mags ... It would have been great to sneak another round in ... but ... they are too loose and sloppy ... I would have to seriously fatten up my Pro Custom mags to get that basepad to stay on ... Soooooooooo ... live (and pay) and learn ... I just had to go for it ...
  5. I just use a hex screw ... (with one of those nylon patch thingies in the threads ... McMaster Carr) ... along with blue loctite and have never had a problem either (with them loosening up). I have one of those little Ron Power kits to put a lock screw in ... (drill up from the bottom) ... and the original mainspring screws that I had planned on shortening to exactly the right length when I got done with these guns ... BUT ... I never did either and they haven't loosened up (that I can tell). The 627 has accumulated over 5K rounds since it's last adjustment and the model 10 only 2K (cause I got tired of Classic pretty quick and haven't gotten back to it yet). When I "was" making more frequent re-adjustments initially ... I just made sure I put a fresh coating of loctite on before screwing them back in. Since they have stayed stable I just have been lazy and not gotten back to do anything more permanent.
  6. Wow ... it has been a while ... but I am pretty sure a Comp-Tac International holster will (also) bolt up directly to the Safariland USPSA kit (and other Safariland stuff).
  7. Noooo ... this is great ... (that your mags fit the magwell with the Dawson pads) ... I'm waiting for two of the 40s that I ordered to show up ... to see if they will work with the Dawson pads ... AND ... fit the length gauge. I just wasn't paying attention announcing the 9s as factory mags ...
  8. Well ... whatever works ... but they might be more interested if they could justify their participation as "good practice" for their regular discipline shooting (be it single stack, custom defensive pistol etc). I suspect they would grow tired of having to clear a slide lock everytime they fired their 8th shot ... Stage design will/should naturally limit the usefulness of the extra bullet. Any superior "revolver" performance would fall to the "good ol boy match manipulation cloud" ... if we made them do "extra" stuff they would not normally do. (IMHO anyhow). Sounds like fun in any case ... I am sure they would let you know what they "would and wouldn't" stand for to play our game.
  9. That would be cool to let single stacks shoot at local matches ... (stage solutions should be similar right??!?) ... Let them do what they regularly do ... 8 +1 in the chamber (no 10 round minor guys) ... don't screw with their normal routine (IMHO). It would be fun for everyone to be able to compare results.
  10. It is pretty arbitrary but gives you a point of reference ... (and something to log for reference). Now ... if someone would make a bluetooth bullet that would simply transmit "how hard it was hit" to an android/ios app ... we would be in heaven ...
  11. Sorry ... glad to hear those worked for you ... my bad ... the "black" ones ... are supposed to be the "factory" mags (and say so in the description) ... they were sold out for the 9 ... https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1482620.htm You may have made out with even a better deal as the my "original" 40's are just a tad too long for the (MGW) scale with the Dawson basepads on them ... and I bet yours will measure legal.
  12. OK ... I was sweating bullets ... looking for that Cheely magwell ... (did I say I "really" liked that magwell??) ... I saw the ShotShow video and the one Travis was handling had one ... but all the photos/videos of that gun later showed them with the Dawson Para/Ice magwell ... I even found Sarco selling inserts for the Cheely magwell (for $45!!) but no magwell. Well ... they may never be seen again ... but some guy is selling them on Ebay ... for $40 ... (you can't get "any" magwell for $40!!) ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cheely-CCG-Para-Ordnance-Para-USA-Magwell-P-14-P-16-P-18-2011-/221977216372?bvflow=0&rd=1
  13. The face of the hammers have a ledge ... Take a paper clip and bend it to fit under the ledge. I always take a pencil and mark the release point of the hammer ... then just operate the hammer enough to slide the paper clip in place ... then get a hold of the paper clip with your measurement tool and pull the trigger ... (hold the trigger operated) ... pull back on the clip with your measurement tool till the pencil mark (hammer release) point appears .. take the reading. Give me a min ... I will upload a picture. edit: This is the best I can do with one hand ... (scale and tablet are both in the right hand ... sigh) ... but you get the idea. Waxed string ... (like you use to sew leather) will work too ... Just make a loop and slide it over the face of the hammer. OK ... second photo is better ... just tied the trigger operated with a shoestring ... you can see this 627 is reading 36oz ...
  14. I noticed E-Gunparts is stocking some "factory" Pro Custom (wide-body) magazines. These are pretty inexpensive and nice to have for mandatory reload stages and such ... https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/1410270.htm https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/1410290.htm
  15. You are aware that g41 and g21 mags are the same right??!? http://www.natchezss.com/factory-original-glock-21-45-acp-13-round-magazine.html http://www.lipseys.com/itemdetail.aspx?itemno=GLMF21013
  16. +1 Make sure you hold a TS in your hand and make sure you can operate the safety (with your strong hand). A friend of mine picked one up last summer and got it right at Custom Shop ... (and I can't believe he didn't try emulating a draw/safety release etc). Anyhow ... got all the stuff ... extended mag pads etc etc ... and when he finally tried to use it he realized he couldn't operate the safety with one hand and started releasing the safety with his weak hand when drawing .. (yikes). He tried getting one of the extended LHS (left side safeties ... they are on the website) before he moved to another state but they were waiting for some to show up ... I just checked and those extended safety levers are still in limbo with no ETA. His is in the safe now ... he only shot steel with it anyhow ... so no biggie ... it's only money. I guess if he really wanted to do something about it he could have someone weld a tab on the thing or something. Just saying ... make sure whatever it is ... that it is really going to work for you before buying. edit: http://czcustom.com/cztsextendedambisafetylhs.aspx
  17. I see Rhinos come with moon clips now (noticed that just recently) ... (and TK stocks them). Wow ... a trigger job ... race holster ... cool ... If you wanted to be the odd man (or "more" odd) ... this would be the ticket. Just sayin' ...
  18. Wow!! Thanks for the feedback ... never thought about the clips either or that even being an issue ... (and all the 625s).
  19. I'm sure this has been around the block a few times ... please bear with me ... Watching the Limited 6 thread made me think again about the desirability of K frames and moon clips. Using short colts in those tiny little K frame moon clips made me think even more (ouch!! ... like ... why bother if you can't load those little clips up with little bullets ... short colts??!?). I really like my model 10 (who needs sights??!) and would like to grab a new model 67 ... but those guys are 38 special plus rated ... and ... it seems to me that our short colts (if making power factor) should be running in the 9mm/357 pressure range (significantly higher). This doesn't seem like a good idea. Those new 66s (357) will get the job done ... (and of course any of the L frames). Should I just forget about the 38 K frames except for classic ... eating 38 specials?? What do you think??
  20. In my Para 16.40 I have been loading 180 blue bullets at both 1.125 and 1.15 (the Para didn't seem to care either way out of an MBX, SPS or stock ... but I feel better leaving them a little longer ... hand cycling test bullets at the longer length seemed to feel a little smoother to me at the 1.15 ... but ... ). The "new" blue bullet 180s don't have lube grooves anymore so I don't mind experimenting with the longer load. Using 4.4gr of Unique or 4.0gr of Bullseye both land me right at 170-171pf (and "I" really can't tell the difference). edit:

  22. I know ... I was shocked too when I first saw that. I had always heard that plated bullets should be "loaded" like they were plain lead ... and then they show up at the end of the chain ... slower than jacketed. I stumbled on that link when I went searching for an answer ... I had been working up a revolver load ... using a plated bullet and same weight coated bullet ... loading both exactly the same (with two different powders) and then going out for a chrono session. The coated jumped ahead so much faster I quit testing immediately and quarantined all my ammo ... (thinking I had used the wrong powder drop ... or somehow mixed up the powders ... bullseye/unique). If you have a tried and true load and then all of the sudden decide to simply substitute a coated bullet it can be a shock. ... and ... blue bullets give you a discount too if let them know you are registered on this forum.
  23. If you haven't seen it before (or something like it) ... there is an interesting article here that compares load performance impact of bullet coatings ... (blue bullets show up in one of the comparison tests). http://38super.net/Pages/How%20Fast.html
  24. Yeah ... (IMHO) ... that's way too much variance in OAL on your 147 load. I had a short colt load using the 147s (pretty close on case volume to a 9mm ... and the bullets were sized .358 ... but ...). At 1.17 OAL I was averaging 808fps and dropping the load OAL down to 1.16 (only 10/1000) boosted it to 832fps (24fps difference average). If you are experiencing that kind of spread in OAL just on the 147s I would see if something is going on with your bullet seating die plunger (although you would think this wouldn't be an issue since they are all RN).
  25. I use the 147 blue bullets (sized .358) in my revolver short colt loads ... I have tested several out of every batch I received and all have been between 149.5 and 150 ... edit: ... don't forget ... you get a discount there if you tell them you are a member of the Enos forums ...
