  1. The 9L doesn't look bad ... the production list shows 28.2. It also shows a 5 inch M&P pro as 29.2 ... but the 5 inch Core (9 or 40) are both show as 26oz ...
  2. Wow ... nice ... I guess I should do better job of planning ... The "list" says my m&p core 40 is 26oz (as well as the manufacture's site) Sock out of the box it is 25.4 ... OK ... put a factory mag in it and it is 28.5 ... only .5 oz overweight right out of the box. .... and ... I bet a 9mm weighs more than a 40. edit: gotta go find the trigger pull gauge and get a second opinion .... sigh ... OK ... just when I was thinking it couldn't get any worse ... my Mr. Lyman Trigger Pull Gauge shows 1lb 10.1oz empty (26.1oz) and 1lb 13.2oz with the mag (29.2oz) ... I guess if they weigh my "out of the box" overweight Core ... I will be shooting open instead of production. ....
  3. Mag extensions are in!! I told the woman 10 rounds and this is what they sent ... Don't need nothing in the range bag except trail-mix and propel ...
  4. When I first started loading 40 I grabbed 500 here (link) to add to startup inventory. The stuff was super clean; cheap ... and ... they do look nice with blue bullets in them. Now though ... it seems like I always come home from a match with more 40 bass than I shot ... inventory growing by itself!! http://www.acmebullet.com/range-Brass-Bullets-Buy-Online/range-brass/40SW-Nickel-Brass-Bullets
  5. Wow ... that doesn't seem like the right thing to ask. This is my m&p core 40 (was already loading 40 for my limited gun) ... got it from buds last week and have a circle/dot jpoint on it ... the competition AEK ... 13lb recoil spring and a nice soft 135pf load ... 180gr 3.3gr bullseye ... hope to get it into a match on Sunday ... some steel tomorrow (for practice) ... I have a few (co legal) mag extensions coming in today ... (good for shooting steel) ... and will try to play by the rules (or whatever they evolve to) ... I am modestly classified in limited and revolver but "I think" I would like to be able to have more than 10 rounds in the magazines ... Will be interesting to see where it goes ... I see a lot of good points falling out of the discussions.
  6. brown ... I don't know why I locked on to the Comp-Tac on my first response because your original post clearly says BladeTech ... (I use one for my M&P ... guess that's it) ... Anyhow ... here are photos of an Invictus and a Boss hanger both with Blade-Tech holsters attached. You can see you could actually bend the Invictus to what ever angle you wanted and easily shim (washers) the spacers on the Boss.
  7. I think you got it covered already ... unless you have to pass the "dowel test" for IDPA it is nice to have a little extra grab clearance at the top. (USPSA 2 inch is now 3.5 or so I think ... and sweeping does not apply).
  8. I never thought of a slight inward can't as a problem ... more desirable actually ... but ... that is why there are so many mounting options out there for different body types and personal preferences. The photo below shows a 5 inch M&P Core holstered in a Comp-Tac International holster ... IMHO ... if you are using the "provided stuff" from Comp-Tac ... the "belt slide" along with the "drop offset" is the most stable ... (anti-flop) .. because of the little leg on the offset piece that rests up against the hanger. You didn't say what you were using. There are bunches of other hangers out there if you want to do something different (Boss; Stringer; Invictus; even a Safariland USPSA will work with this guy too with very little mod) .. but even with those I think I would prefer a slight positive camber on the gun. edit: ... uh ... and to answer your question ... yes ... I have used screw/spacer kits from blackhawk and from safariland (that I have used over the years) that are sold exactly for the purpose of shimming/tilting your holster ... always handy to have "extra" mounting screws etc.
  9. All good points on capacity. Reading these and other comments on the USPSA forum I can see the justification for a fixed round count as opposed to "how many you can stuff into a magazine" (like … driving the division to 9mm for the capacity advantage). … and … I have a 40 … what was I thinking??
  10. If they do "just one more thing" I hope it will be to dump the 10 round limit!! Perhaps the 140mm magazine allowance in the latest update is an indicator??!?
  11. Oh yeah !!! ... That is what is neat!! ... see the allen screws on the front of mine??!? ... just loosen those and you can spin the thing around anywhere you want. You can also mount the body higher too if you like it further above your belt.
  12. I have two of them right in the center of my belt ... and tilted as you can see. I started with two to test them out and found that two "really quick" reloads gets it for most stages (these are outstanding for classifiers with reloads) ... longer stages usually give you a few more steps to get it done and I just pull those off the regular "post" holder when needed. I am happy with two ... and am going to keep it that way for a while. Oh ... if you use revolver supply clips they hold them a lot firmer than the TKs ... IMHO ... the pull with the TKs is outstanding and these guys don't loose the clips when you dive for a prone shot or anything. They actually protect the clip since the bullets snuggle right in the grooves. If they are holding "YOUR" clips too tight just put a couple of paper sticker on the top. Get a pair!! You won't be sorry. edit: also ... yes ... they are legal in both USPSA and ICORE ... I have used them both places ... the only thing different on your belt for those games is the height of your revolver. In USPSA the heel has to be above the top of the belt and in ICORE the heel has to be above the bottom of the belt (so if you wanted to get technical with that useless difference in requirements ... with the standard 1 1/2 inch belt you could run your revolver 1 1/2 inch lower in ICORE (everything else being exactly the same). This is something in the rule book that probably needs to match just for the sake of some consistency.

    Extended mag release

I have the gun craft with the button (really like it!!) .. (out of stock at Brownells like the man says) ... but found one here ... https://www.speedshooter.com/product_detail.cfm?id=GCPMRB&n=Gun-Craft-Para-Ordnance-Mag-Release--Blue edit: ... and ... I hope you were looking for one for a double stack ... (I assumed ... sigh ...) .. and ... since I am still not paying attention .. I see you can get the "button" version at Dawson too ...
  14. Been running - 4.0 gr of bullseye with 180 blue bullets at 1.15 ... avg 949 for 170pf out of a para 5 inch barrel ... also ... - 4.4 gr unique with same bullets and oal ... avg 954 for 171pf. Both loads turn sub 15 sd ... (12-13)
  15. I was actually able to push out the front site on a 4.5xdm and a 3.8 with this "fisher" sight pusher. http://www.sightpusher.com/Handgun-Sight-Tool.html It flattened the "push" side of the sight base just slightly on the 4.5 (easy to clean up if you wanted to save it for some reason) ... and ... the base is so short you have to check your alignment very carefully to make sure you don't run up the side of the sight or drag/mark the slide. The 3.8 had a night sight so no biggie. However ... if "I" can do it ... anyone can do it (just put the pusher frame in a "big" vice and put cardboard where the blocks touch the slide). I have to say though ... I appreciated the pusher the most when it was time to put the new "dawsons" back in the slides.
  16. .357 too!! http://www.xtremebullets.com/9mm-147-RN-357-p/xc9mm-357-147rn-b0500.htm
  17. Hopefully the hasbro front sight will disappear ... I know it is a personal preference thing ... but ... (and the roll stamps don't get overdone ... more ...) ...
  18. 929 are pinned and need to be drilled. Yep ... too early for me!! Way to go Smith & Wesson!! Thanks MrDan ...
  19. OK ... it might be too early for me ... but ... aren't 929s and new 617s using "classic/dx" style sights?? If so ... they just pop out ... push to the rear and lift out ...
  20. wth?? ... I paid $27 for a DAA target case to carry my targets to the range!! Have you ever seen a platoon of those things get loose in the back of your car (with the windows down)?? No more "bravos"?? Throw out all those classifiers?? ... Wow ... edit: Here is a nice article from one of the previous cycles of the topic ... http://www.gunnuts.net/2010/11/01/ipsc-classic-vs-metric-target/ We could use NRA D-1 (the ICORE tombstone) ... no "turtle/body part" innuendo going on there!!
  21. OK ... I got a message from someone asking if my mags ever fit ... sooooo ... unfortunately no (for me). I purchased my Para Pro Custom 16.40 in May of 2015 ... new. I trimmed the rear of one of the bases on the "Gun Parts" mags ... and it set deeper but then bottomed out on the other three sides ... sigh ... I am running a Cheely magwell and figured I would put the little guy back on to see if that was the difference ... no dice ... If you look at the photos you can see on of the "Gun Parts" mags bottomed out in the Cheely ... one photo shows the "Gun Parts" mag seated on the gun with the magwell completely removed ... and I can tell you it only snapped in by pushing firmly and rocking forward ... the other photo shows one of the factory mags that shipped with the gun ... and the (large) clearance it has (that is the original base pad on it too). Soooooooooo ... no dice for me ... I am going to see if the person who asked me wants these two "Gun Parts" mags to experiment with as they are of no use to me.
  22. Take a look here ... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=99973
  23. Wow ... and we were just talking about Classic ... scary ... I was at Brownells; checking my "favorite" list. K and J jetloaders are shown "out of stock" as well as "discontinued by manufacturer". The L jetloaders are marked "clearance". See some stock still at ... http://www.pistoleer.com/jetloader/ ... and I know there are Safariland but with the non-enormous demand on competitive speedloading gear this is unnerving.
  24. Yeah ... my two 40 cal - 140mm SPS mags with the little wedgie plastic basepads (that came on them) were too long for the gauge. edit: add photos ... with wedgie and with grams ...
  25. I too am weak ... poorly committed to classic ... (keeping a classic rig for little more than holidays, bbqs and/or when needing to look like a "real" revo guy ... sigh ...). One of the benefits however ... of being a "show only" classic shooter is that my jet loaders have full skirts (completely stock ... not a hint of trimming/bubberizing) .. and don't require loading blocks ... (just press them into the palm of your hand).
