  1. Competition Electronics is claiming that their new "Pro Timer" w/Bluetooth is sensitive enough to pick up the snap of a finger. https://benstoegerproshop.com/competition-electronics-pro-timer-w-bluetooth-shot-timer/
  2. I would worry more about reloading and the hand interfering.
  3. My apology if someone already mentioned this and I missed it ... but ... My 5 inch locks up with a ball detent in the frame ... and the 4 inch locks up on the ejector rod tip. My 5 inch uses a DX/Classic type front sight (slides into a spring loaded shoe) ... and the 4 inch uses a pin on sight. If you are only going to be doing steel challenge (with an optic) then neither will be a worry ... you won't be doing (on clock) reloads or snap in front sight changes.
  4. I have a colored base pad on my "start" (11 round) magazine ... and always put it in my rearmost mag holder (or in my pocket) for LAMR. You couldn't do this on a barrel or empty gun start as you would be grabbing them after the start signal ... in that case they could not be loaded w/ more than 10 rounds.

    Canik mags

I see 18 and 20 rounders are back in stock at Midway again (6/8). https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020887624?pid=431645&utm_medium=email&utm_source=service&utm_campaign=product-arrival-notification&utm_content=product-description-link
  6. Require a Lee loader (w/ the hammer) ... Loader and componets must be carried on the belt. Brass must be pickups from the stage!! Competitors must bring their own lunch.
  7. I switched to a Canik TP9SFX so I could shoot 9mm ammo (purchased online). It just got a little ridiculous (for me) to continue to load 40 S&W on the Dillon.

    Canik mags

Hey!! Midway has 20 round Canik mags ... MA550 right now ... 5/10/2022 ... 5:30PM Arizona ... I just picked one up (that's all I needed) there is a limit of 2. I had it on inventory watch ... https://www.midwayusa.com/ltd/product?pid=257786&utm_medium=email&utm_source=service&utm_campaign=product-arrival-notification&utm_content=product-description-link
  9. It seems like 9mm magazines for M&Ps have been unavailable forever ... If you have been looking (like I have) ... AIM has used ones back in stock ... cheap ... $18 big ones!! https://aimsurplus.com/used-smith-wesson-m-p-9mm-17rd-magazine/
  10. Nah ... they had it in the back room ... trying it out/comparing groups w/ the regular SFX ...

    Unique

Yeah ... I used to load 4.4gr unique behind 230gr RN Bear Creek (coated) bullets (1.250 oal) ... They went 767fps out of my 5 inch Rock Island (176PF).
  12. I'm pretty sure you would be able to use the Henry in a "Rimfire Challenge" match. Some local ranges host regular monthly rimfire matches (gun loaded at start of stage only ... no reloading on the fly). https://www.ssusa.org/articles/2018/3/28/everything-you-need-to-know-about-rimfire-challenge/
  13. If they are really practicing their shooting ... Hopefully ... the threat would have expired anyhow by the 11th round.
  14. Yep .... I was just posting in a production thread ... AND ... wrote something like "why don't they just shoot l i m i t e d m i n o r" as the last sentence (also w/o the spaces). It inserted the same text so I suspect someone doesn't want that phrase entering discussion for some reason.
  15. +1 - yep .. IMHO anyhow .. I had not shot for a couple of years. Upon recently starting up again (doing several small locals) I noticed the belt (rule) changes (mag/holster position). Sooooooo ... the last match I decided to go ahead and move one mag holder from the rear position to the front of the pack (nothing like on my limited belt but a big step on the production rig). At the end of every stage that match I noticed there was still a magazine in the front pouch ... as hard as I tried I was never able to access that magazine after the buzzer went off. When I put on the limited belt ... (w/ two forward .. swept back mags) there is no problem ... but ... when I put on that production belt it is like my head is just hard wired to where they are supposed to be and what it is supposed to feel like. I suspect if they change enough I will dedicate enough time at re-wiring my behavior but really ... I would just like to shoot it as I always have. Edit: wow that text correction thing is amazing ...
  16. "Extractor" ... yes .. extractor in the slide ... sorry my bad .. Got to talking about ejection and went mental .. sigh ... It has to come out to get at the sludge ..
  17. I would just settle for some magazines ... (so I could shoot my tp9sfx at a match!!). I already have a boatload of BBQ/range guns.
  18. Not a 2.0 .. but ... I have a 5 inch 40 S&W Core and strangely ... about every 3200-3500 rounds (I keep a log) the gun starts it's "short distance ejection" routine. It doesn't fail to shoot or eject in any way ... it simply starts tossing cases out limply (right at your feet). This always ends up being carbon/trash/sludge under the ejector extractor (third time just recently). I use this opportunity to take everything out of the slide ... clean it all and re-assemble. Other than an occasional light barrel and slide slot oiling it really doesn't get anything else (and nothing has ever broke). It is a Production gun and has spent it life shooting minor PF 40s.
  19. Wow … I looked at the size of this post and said to myself … "I'm not gonna read all this stuff!!" …. I'm so glad I did … Very informative and entertaining!! Thanks for sharing!!
  20. My 5" M&P 1.0 Core has/had suppressor height sights (as someone already mentioned) and co-witnessed perfectly with the dot I used ... a JPoint). Static shots were fantastic ... I could hit anything w/ confidence (one hand / two hand / whatever) ... BUT ... I never spent the time to learn to aquire the dot quickly. One plus for me was that I didn't have to wear my prescription shooting glasses (set up at front sight distance) ... In fact ... they would mess up the dot if I did. BUT ... one of the best things about the co-witnessed sights was the zeroing of the dot. All I had to do was establish a sight picture and then adjust the dot to sit on top of the front sight. Didn't waste any range time putting that guy right on the money. When actually shooting ... I don't think I ever noticed the iron sights being there at all.
  21. I have a DAA on my limited belt and thinking about incorporating one in Production (for off table and show clear) ... but ... I wouldn't dream of using it w/o a cover. Ever get stuck to the plate when re-setting a knock down ?? Belt jumping to a truck bumper in the parking lot (and the owner wondering what you are doing to his vehicle)??!?
  22. Wait .. wait!! Stop it!! I just bought 2 more 10 round magazines for the Canik!!
  23. When/if you find out the "optic" isn't such a big deal then the 5 inch gives you the sight radius. (may be more attractive to some if you throw it on the table for resale). ... AND ... If you are into tungsten guide rods then you can put a "longer/heavier" one in the 5 inch!!
