Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I got bored one day and decided that I "needed" a round counter for my Dillon 650. Off to eBay I went. Long story short, I ended up working with Alan from SA Development. Awesome guy and super great customer service. I emailed the company on a Saturday morning and I got a response from Alan within minutes!!! We shot several emails back and forth with him kindly answering all my silly questions. I ordered the Press Monitor II from him. He shipped it Monday as promised and it arrived promptly and well packaged. I got it installed last night, but am waiting for the glue to cure before I start pulling the blue handle... it is killing me I hope to follow up with report on the monitor soon. All that to say, is AWESOME customer service from SA Development - especially when good customer service is getting harder and harder to find these days. Thanks Alan! PS - I wrote this without compensation or request from SA Development. I simply wanted to give props to a small business with great service.
  2. Thanks for all the responses. I will be loading both pistol and rifle cases on the press. I guess at the end of the day, be slow and safe - heck my reloading buddy and I call it "therapy"... some people golf, some go to a psychologist... me, I pull a little blue handle
  3. Thanks for the free mental health check. I will run some more rounds through it and I will put safeaction on the first to call list when I bargain price it out Don't hold your breath though - I have run several thousand 9mm on it and whoohoo it is awesome!
  4. I just upgraded to a 650 having come from a setup of a single stage press and a Lee Classic Turret. In the "old days" I tumbled brass, resized it, trimmed it, tumbled it again and then hand primed it. Now I have a shiny Dillon XL650. I know I can dump a load of "clean" brass into the casefeeder and start pulling the handle, but I feel that some of the quality control goes away. I know I can pre-sort the clean brass for good cases, but what about case length, etc? Do other progressive press users suffer the same mental anguish or am I just crazy?
  5. I had the same problem of varying OALs, never more than .005 as well. Glad to see I am not crazy. Thanks for a good post.
  6. I started in a single stage Lee Classic Turret and loaded 1,000's of rounds on it with great success. I just recently upgraded to the 650 and it is fantastic! I say, "I wonder why I waited so long?" But then again, maybe there needs to be that progression? You don't learn to drive in a Ferrari. Anyways, either Dillon will be great, just go slow at first and check your powder charges! And don't forget to check your powder charges
  7. Same here, went from a Lee Classic Turret to a Dillon 650 - how did that many completed rounds end up in that blue bucket so quickly? AWESOME!
  8. Ha, absolutely! My buddy comes over and we call it our weekly therapy session. We shoot the breeze while sorting and prepping brass, etc. The therapy does get a little more serious when powder gets involved. But heck yeah! Reload and relax, but as stated above, do so with the proper precautions.
  9. I loaded on a Lee Classic for years, just waiting to upgrade to a 550. I fell into a nice 650 and could not be happier! If "complicated" machinery does not bother and you have a little patience, 650 it up
  10. Maybe I am cheap, but I bought a two pack of LED reading at Costco for $10! They have a nice clip and flexible shaft so I can put the light right where I want it! They even came with batteries! Also: Case Feeder (which you did get - congrats) Roller Handle Spare Parts Kit Just my two cents...
  11. @EEH I did not break one fortunately. I ended up with a couple of repair kits and had two different replacement rings and was wondering if/what the difference was.
  12. @Dillon Thanks for the time line on the new part (and for an awesome machine!)
  13. Does anyone know what the latest ring indexer is? (Dillon p/n 13677) I have two - one is black plastic and the other is a yellow-ish plastic. Which is the most current version and more importantly is one better than the other? Thanks for the help.
