Howdy folks,
Recently I've developed an interest in shooting and have been to the range a handful of times trying out different guns, developing an affection for some but not others and realizing that shooting at the indoor range will get old fast. On the Aprilia forum I look at someone posted up a picture of his USPSA sidearm along with a video of himself going through the course at Area 59 and, all of a sudden, shooting became much more interesting. Of course I sent him a message and asked him all about it.
This fellow, Hacxor, suggested I start out on this forum and look into the steel challenge. So that's what I'm doing. I'm taking a beginner's lesson next Friday at Red's range in Austin and will hopefully select a gun shortly after that. I really like the Walther PPQ and HK VP9 the most but those who know more suggest I start with a Glock 19. I suppose I'll do that and don't really know why I'm not excited about it. Probably the same reason I like Aprilia motorcycles more than Hondas. Who knows.
Anyhow I'll be lurking around here trying to pick up on some good habits early on in my shooting career. I'd like to participate in a steel challenge as soon as possible because it looks like a barrel full of fun.
I've read the guidelines but will surely ask some stupid questions here and there because...well, I really don't know much. Now I just have to update my signature with some advertising and inflammatory political rhetoric...
