  1. Like RJH, my experience with the Lee Classic Turret is close to the same. Many youtubes on finely tuning the primer system and other operations. Disconnect the turret bar and it's a single stage press. Quality at a low price if you are not sure you'll like reloading. I suggest the kit with the auto Drum, not the Pro disk powder measure.
  2. Yes, I'd call Wolff but I think they'll tell you the RSA is the same on the 4.25 & 5 on both 1.0 and 2.0.
  3. Pretty sure they all use the same length spring.
  4. Just curious Chris. Looks more like a dinosaur rather than a Buckmark to me. I was thinking it was +++P for big stuff.
  5. This brass has been showing up in the range brass I've been buying locally. It loads and shoots fine but am curious who makes it.
  6. The 147 flat point load to 1.128" in my CZSP-01 which has a short throat. Most RN are seated much deeper in this gun.
  7. In my short throated CZ some RN are real close to being unusable. I have to seat BBI 135gr to 1.08". I can seat Acme 147gr out to 1.125". My S&W and 1911 will take any of them. Blue bullets are .355 while most others are .356-.357 although Blue bullets shoot well for me. Use a taper crimp.
  8. WSF for 135gr and 147gr. Titegroup for 115gr and 125gr. Both are plentiful, right now anyway.
  9. Shooting through the chronograph at a target from a bench helps in not shooting the chrony itself or the sticks. I've replaced a lot of sticks over the years mostly from muzzle blast from rifles and out of tune arrows.
  10. I'm guessing that the heat of friction is causing the coating to flake off after it leaves the barrel. I have a 1000 coming and will just keep an eye on the bore. The 135gr TC (.355) are very accurate with 3.8grs WSF in my CZ and I can seat them out to 1.140" I also have a sample of Black Bullets (.356) coming and will recover some of those to compare.
  11. The snow is melting fast and these showed up on the ground behind my target. The coating is gone from the lands and I wonder if that's happening when the bullet is traveling down the barrel or after laying out in the elements for a couple weeks. After I set my taper crimp die I pulled a couple and the coating was intact. The CZ barrel is shiney and lead free as far as I can tell but I've only shot 100 or so Blues. What do ya think?
  12. Maybe I'm a better shot than I think I am. I've only loaded Blue Bullets at .355 and love them in my CZ75 but perhaps I need to order a sample of Bayou or Acme or etc .356 to try.
  13. Not for competition but my introduction to CZ. I thought my M&P's fit my hand well until I held this and had to buy it.
  14. They would plunk check different in my M&P vs CZ. That said, I don't use that bullet so I can't say.
  15. Blue Bullets are .355 and shoot great in my CZ 75. The 135gr TC has a profile that allows a longer OAL with the short throated CZ.
  16. Thanks for the update. I'm planning on getting the Classic press.
  17. He likes 147gr because he shoots tiny steel chickens and other steel targets out at 60-80 yards and wants to knock them over which he does regularly. Mostly he shoots factory 115gr because it's donated but his handloads are 147gr. He's done a video at his reloading bench and he has A LOT of different powder but no specifics.
  18. I started with Brian's and next up was Practical Pistol by Ben Stoeger. There are big differences between them but that allows you to find what works for you.
  19. Welcome! I've been reloading rifle and .44 mag revolver for a long time on a single stage and have my eye on a Dillon Square Deal B for 9mm to speed things up and load something other than 115gr which is 99% of available 9mm in my neck of the woods. The 650 you have coming will last you and your families lifetimes. Those are 3 fine calibers you're looking at.
  20. Now don't you two mad scientists try combining powders; resist the urge!
  21. Welcome! I'm new here too. Along with your load manuals you can check out Hodgdon's data online and or bullet manufacturers data. Sometimes the data conflicts source to source. Hodgdon suggests starting at 4.5grs of Titegroup with a Speer Gold Dot hollow point with a max load of 4,8grs. That's the only bullet they list for the 9mm with Titegroup and a different bullet might have different data. So the difference between min and max is 3/10ths of 1 grain. There is danger of loading below minimum as well as above. The point is to compile data for the bullet as well as the powder. With you're background I'm sure you'll do fine.
  22. http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/451019-accuracy-coming-apex-m-p-barrels.html It's a long thread but Randy Lee, Apex engineer (and owner I believe) chimes in quite bit on the faults of the 9mm in the 4" and 5" barrels. Mine is a bit tighter than some of them out there so I don't plan on spending the $200.
  23. I have the FS 22 and it matches the frame of my FS 9mm. I use the large grip on my 9mm and wish the FS22 had the capability. Both fit in my Blade Tech dropped offset made for the M&P Pro series.
  24. 3D archery, recurve. Form is as complex as the pistol games (sighting, release, follow through) and both have the weapon hanging out on our arms in front of us drifting around the target waiting for the release. Both shoot from awkward positions. It's what I did until a rotator cuff injury. Reloading was cheaper though!
  25. I have a big tear in my left rotator cuff (18 months ago) and chose not to have surgery. Locked elbows really put an ache in that shoulder quickly. Just a slight bend in the elbows is comfortable for as long as I want to shoot.
