WOW thats a first! i run either SRO or the 507 Comps personally the SRO works better for me because its bigger and thinner(around the outside) any insight on why you like the DPP more?

I own 9 DPPs. Yes, some have been sent back to Leupold for issues like EVERY red dot. But I’ve never had one die one me while shooting. I’ve never had really any issues with them. Plus back when they originally came out before the market was as big as it is now, they were the only one with the life time warranty on the entire optic. Trijicon/cmore and that’s really it at the time had 5 year warranty on electronics. Sig also has this same warranty. My first DPP from 2017 is still on a gun now and has never been back to Leupold. Still has the original green board. Arguably over 150k rounds on it. On Open guns, slide ride guns, and PCCs.

Asking the same question and I've seen the idea that "it depends on your shooting style" several places but no one really specifies what that means.

What shooting style matches which comp?  Does it really make much difference?  Thanks!

look at what the top 5% of PCC shooters used at Nationals and go from there.

That pic reminds me that mine is overdue for a cleaning.  How long did it take with the Dremel engraver?

I’d say 30 mins seems average. You gotta be patient with it and let it actually jackhammer instead of putting too much pressure on the carbon buildup.

I am glad there are folks that don't cough at a $4000 pistol and it is even better for the folks making the profit on those types of pistols.  Just can't see it in my eyes. Off of the shelf guns can do a lot with practice.  Bullets and practice.  Be careful on the classes as well.  Don't fall into the fast guy, egomaniacs that could never win a title, but claim to teach you how to be a champion.

I am old and have spent thousands, and I mean thousand on this sport. It has been good to me, not for wins and losses on the lower levels, but for the friends that I have made over the years, folks I am proud to say I know and have known. The best was when we started to get the names on our shirts on the back.  Must be a better shot at a championship or just a ego boost.

The ego's are worse than I have ever seen now days. The very reason I don't shoot much anymore. If I shoot a match today, it is for the soul reason to get together with my old shooting friends and laugh at the ego monsters. If you can afford it, buy it. You worked hard for your money, but do remember. It won't put you at the top because you spent crazy money on a work of art, unless you are Hunter Biden and you are the seller of the Art.

There are a handful of shooters out there that those type of pistols can makes a difference in their hand only.

Sorry for the rant, just my opinion and thousands and thousands spent over the years.  But the friends and memories were good.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably try 4.2 at 1.13" and see what PF I get.

P.s. I also have a pre-legion x5, bought in the first month's it was released. Has shot great all these years. Only thing I don't like is that it only takes the Romeo1 unless I use a plate.

I had mine milled by someone to fit the DPP a footprint. I forget who tho

  6. I was at 1.125” and using brass monkey 125rn and if I remember correctly, 128ish PF. I’d prob bump back up to 4.2 just to be safe as I feel the recoil difference is negligible. I tested indoors also as it’s winter here. I also have a pre Legion X5 when they were quality built..

Like mentioned above, personal preference.  Do you like a snappy return, or lazier recoil impulse?  I prefer quicker dot return and lighter bullets seem to give that over the heavier bullets.

Funny thing.  I developed a load for my Atlas Athena, and it came out to be 4.2 gr of N320 using 124 gr JHP, with an OAL of 1.115.  I ran across some paper work cleaning up the reloading room and it was a document from Atlas outlining what reloads work well in the for all of their guns including the Athena and it was the exact load I landed on.

I will probably play with some more load development for the stock of coated 125 gr bullets to see what the Athena likes for those.  Most likely will start with 4.0 and 4.1 gr of Sport Pistol, and compare dot movement between that the the JHP recipe.  I typically see Sport Pistol and N320 almost identical gr for gr, and find that due to the soft nature of the coated bullets .1-.2 gr less of powder is required for a similar PF for the coated bullets.

I'm interested in what you find out.  I have quite a bit of N320 and SP and eager to find the desired load for my Artemis I'm getting shortly..  I feel I'm overthinking the whole process and will stick to 4.1ish of N320 under a painted 124rn

Don't know about lefty grip (never saw that option) but I did get a LH mag release.

Unfortunately, they’ve decided to not make a lefty grip which was why I didn’t buy one. Oh well

I used to use those lefty mag button work around things from Mitchell machine back in the day. I know MPA makes them now
