I should have been more specific. Safety off in holster is not a DQ, but is a violation of the equipment start conditions in the circumstances I specified. ND obviously IS a DQ.

Not a DQ in IDPA. DQ in USPSA. In IDPA the correct response would be to not issue the “are you ready” command since the shooter’s equipment does not comply with the start requirements for SAO pistols. Only when the shooter wonders why I have not issued the command would I direct them to apply the safety. Keep in mind, this only applies to SAO pistols, or DA/SA starting cocked and locked in appropriate divisions. Striker guns with safeties are exempt.

My wife and I both use BOSS hangers, and they are popular for a reason. The Invictus Practical holster hanger may be a better option for you depending on your exact build. The Atlas belt may be a good option. The CR Speed is also less stiff than the DAA or Shooters Connection belts, but is still stiff enough for a plastic gun (I have all three). My actual suggestion is for a very stiff belt, then solve the gap problem by tucking in your shirt. A tucked in shirt is very important in all of the action shooting games for both sexes to avoid fabric being in the holster when the gun is holstered. It has caused some folks to end up with extra holes in the lower extremities. The GX Products Vice holster is a very nice design and will work with the BOSS or invictus hanger from above. My wife and I both use Duluth pants and shorts for matches, so I’m no help there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You have two options. 1. Load your 180 grain bullets down to about 140PF, same OAL. 2. Pick a 140-150 grain bullet of similar profile at the same OAL and try the same powder charge as your major load. It will probably be close to the PF you want. Either may function with an 11lb spring. Some 9mm 1911s come with an 11lb spring from the factory. If not, try a 9 or 10lb spring and you should be good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I like one day for up to 10 stages. If more than 10 stages I prefer two days. I very much liked the way Area 5 set their schedule in 2019. All sessions were PM/AM, which allowed walking stages the morning before you shot and a nice early start to drive home the next day when you finished. Random draw prize table is pretty much mandatory with such a schedule, but I don’t go to matches for prize table trinkets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Take your mags apart and check the springs. I don’t know if they changed the design since I bought mine, but mine were 17 round mag springs in the shortened 10 round mag body with the super long basepad. I cut 2-3 coils off the springs. Mag loading got much easier, they could actually be seated in the gun, and there’s still plenty of spring tension. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Loaded many thousands of SNS 147 RN over 3.6 of WST. OAL of 1.150 and a PF of 132-136 depending on the gun and temperature. Keep in mind that WST is inverse temp sensitive. It will get slower as it gets warmer, so chrono them after they sit on your dashboard in the sun for a while to be sure they make PF. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The second book, Principles of Performance, contains an interview Steve did with Lanny, which contains a few nice tidbits for the mental game. Get to Work is probably the most dense, and if you wanted to get just one I would suggest that one. IMHO, they are all valuable and build on each other, so if you can afford his three-book package I’d go that route. The podcast is even nicer, though he takes some getting used to. He covers various aspects of the mental game and how to train yourself, but he ends up covering most aspects over and over in different ways over a few months. If you don’t “get it” the first time, chances are he’ll cover it again down the road in a different way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where in central PA? There are a few good options for matches. Keystone Sportsmen near Muncy has uspsa tomorrow, May 5, and is PCC friendly. West Shore in Harrisburg runs uspsa on the third Saturday, and I think they are PCC friendly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
