  1. I'm in the same boat, made a trade deal that included a bunch of 126mm mags and I don't have any 140mm mags, so I've been thinking about this as well. I'd even be willing to give up the magwell for awhile if I could find a mag extension that could make the 126mm mags close to competitive for the time being. I should probably quit trying to save money and just buy some 140mm mags, I'm going to eventually any way.
  2. I'm using 1.125" +/- .002" and it has worked well in my G17 and G19. Haven't checked the accuracy yet, just function and velocity. So far I've been happy, hope the accuracy is good.
  3. LW will do it, however, there have been mixed reviews about their turnaround time. I'd suggest calling them first, as they used to have a very reasonable price for the service.
  4. Just getting back into USPSA, but in the past I've tried to stay consistent between competition and carry. Next year I'm going back to a 2011 for competition, so I've got a 9mm 2011 Commander in the works right now for a carry gun. Trace's 9mm SVI was the inspiration for my new carry gun.
  5. Smith & Alexander used to be the only company that made the .220 radius. Not sure if that's still true.
  6. I voted WSF but I'm torn between it and AA#5 at the moment.
  7. I have used Dardas bullets for .45 and 10mm and they are a good bullet if you want to shoot lead. A couple of the local stores usually stock some Dardas bullets, so if I need bullets now I can pickup some quickly.
  8. Congrats on the new pistol! I've been looking at a lot of 9mm load data posted here lately and it seems that Titegroup and Win 231 require about the same charge weight as N320 to produce similar velocities. That said, I have not used N320, but from what I've read it seems to fill the case better than TG or 231. A popular load for Titegroup is 4.0gr with small pistol primers, 124 jacketed bullets and an OAL between 1.100" and 1.150" depending on the gun. Checkout this thread for a lot of different load ideas. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89264
  9. Chrono'd one more AA#5 load this weekend. AA#5 5.8gr, OAL 1.185", 200gr D&J lead TC, Win SPP Average velocity for 10 shots was 856fps, which is 171pf, and right where I want it. Smoke didn't seem to be an issue and I didn't notice anything odd about the recoil. One item to note, this was chrono'd at 40 degrees F on a windy, overcast day, approximately 600 feet above sea level. I'm curious what the velocity will be on a 90+ degree day.
  10. I ran some Titegroup with 124gr JHPs this weekend and was surprised at the lack of smoke. I'm used to running TG with lead bullets, now that gives you a smoke cloud. I was running 4.0gr of TG with a Precision Delta 124gr JHP, OAL 1.125" with Win SPP. Happy to say this load was functioning and making minor from a stock G17 and G19.
  11. I'd pass on the sig but its a personal bias. Can't go wrong with SA IMO.
  12. PM sent about this weekend. Scott
  13. I'm running an ISMI captured stainless rod with their 13# spring in a G17. Haven't shot it much so still thinking about cutting a couple coils off.
  14. Here. Just got into a 550 with a couple conversions and I ordered it all through Brian. No need to go anywhere else.
  15. I guess if it won't run with an unramped barrel I can have a ramped barrel fitted. Trying to minimize cost by using what I have at the moment.
  16. Thanks for the info. I've got a good 'smith so I'll talk to him a bit more about it. Parts should be in on Monday, just hoping to have it before the end of the year. Got a couple mags ordered too. Really looking forward to getting this one.
  17. There have been a couple of us looking for an answer to Titegroup and 200gr bullets in the past couple months. So far nobody has come up with a good load that makes major that I've seen. I know it's been done, but I think the thing to do is use the start load on TG's website and work up. I wasn't up for the experimentation so I went with AA#5 and WSF. If you find a load that makes major safely withTG and 200gr bullets I'd like to know what it is, I've got a lot of both left to use.
  18. Thanks for the info. I had read somewhere that the frame would need to be cut on for the commander slide, guess I need to compare the two frames. Think I'll get the parts ordered.
  19. I was going through some things in the safe last night and when I pulled out my single stack 9mm commander I had an idea. This gun is a Fusioin kit that I put together a few years ago thinking I would use it as a training tool with cheap 9mm ammo. With it being 9mm, a single stack, and the price of ammo going up, I never really used it for that purpose, just played with it some at the range. I'm now setup to reload 9mm, so ammo prices don't concern me the way they used to, but this gun doesn't thrill me as it is. What I'm thinking about doing is picking up an STI 2011 frame kit and fitting the 9mm Commander top end to it. The goal for this pistol would be to make it into a carry gun, with occasional/possible use as a steel gun, or a limited minor gun. The one major concern I have is that when I put the original pistol together I didn't do as much research as I should have, and therefore I went with an unramped barrel. Not an issue with the frame as far as I can see, the STI frame I'm looking at is not cut for a ramped barrel, but am I going to have reliability issues with an unramped barrel in 9mm? Does anybody have experience with an unramped 9mm barrel on an STI frame? Would appreciate any input, info, pictures, experiences that anybody has had with a similar setup.
  20. Now that you've had it awhile, how do you like the tactical micropockets? ETA: Very nice pistol! In fact seeing the pictures of this one has made me think I might have to seriously consider an SV order in the next year or so.
  21. Same here. I can't remember a stage where 21 in the mag would have really helped me though.
  22. When you hear "precious metals" you instantly think you need to buy more bullets and brass.
  23. Don thanks for the info. I'll keep Clays in mind. Not really looking for high power stuff, just a powder that will work in all my calibers and give minor or major PF where needed. Just started loading 9mm with Titegroup to use up the 3.5# I've got, hope it's better with the JHPs than it is with lead.
  24. A lot of good info here. I used to shoot lead through a stock Glock barrel and never had a problem, but I cleaned the barrel around the 300 round mark and it wasn't ported. As for another manual, the Lyman book is really good. I have the 47th edition and it's the first one I look at, then I'll cross reference that info with Hornady, Speer, and online listings if I can find them. IMO the Speer manual is almost worthless.
