After playing around with the Xtreme some, the trigger is decent, but nothing close to my PD optimized S2.  The Xtreme has a very smooth DA pull but quite a bit heavier than my S2.  The SA is very nice also, with some takeup, breaks very crisp, reset is minimal but still more than my S2.  All in all, the trigger isnt bad at all.  The slide to frame fit seems to be very well done on this Xtreme, action is butter smooth.

Would you guys leave this thing as is, or would you polish it out, perhaps add the bolo?  Would the bolo work with the hammer on the Xtreme?  What about the springs in an Xtreme?  I assume they are lighter/better than a regular S2 but not as good as the PD springs?  Anyone with knowledge care to chime in on that would be appreciated.

A few pictures with the Lyman and some pull numbers...SA and DA on the Xtreme, then SA and DA on my PD S2...

with those numbers i wouldn't be surprised if somebody has already been in that gun. We've done a few of them and i havent seen one yet in stock form with a sub 9.5lb DA and 4.5lb SA.

As for parts i would set your guns up identical..... The xtreme as mentioned above comes with xtreme springs, and all the xtreme parts installed. Everything still needs polishing, and of course a Titan/BOLO combo woudlnt hurt :)

Honestly, Joe, if you drill out the holes on your grip panels with just the tiniest bit more clearance  to accommodate for Tanfoglio's less predictable tolerances, and include shake washers, I think all will be fine.

Thats half of the issue we've seen.... The leading edge that the lip of the grip engages is another big problem we've seen. I just hate grips that constantly loosen up during use unless you use some kind of thread lock....

You guys sell a 'ready to shoot' gun for people who want to pass on the fiddlin about stuff ?

We stock guns, and offer a discounted tuning package for folks who purchase everything through us at once...... Everybody has different needs and wants on there guns to offer just one setup.

Is there any certain factory Ammo that they notoriously like or don't like?

Get your chamber reamed and if your gun is tuned properly it will eat what ever you feed it...... 14lb spring will be your your best bet for running factory ammo. Talk to JJ about our BOLO's as he carries them now, unless he's hoarding them all in the back.

Cool! How much of a benefit is there to the PDO trigger return spring?
    Any negatives?

it just aides in fine tuning everything, you'll loose a bit off the trigger pull as well......

  6. Links are for picture references for the OP

EAA / Tanfoglio Witness Extended Single Side Safety- http://patriotdefense.com/product/eaa-tanfoglio-witness-standard-single-side-safety/

EAA / Tanfoglio Witness Single Side Safety (14.1)- http://patriotdefense.com/product/eaa-tanfoglio-witness-single-side-safety-14-1/

Basically the extended single side safety is equivalent to what comes on your Stock II or Stock III...... just single sided.

  7. Wes, that's a good question. Haven't really tested that yet but based off the height increase in the "pencil" test I would expect being able to come down some on the hammer spring weight if your gun is 100% as it sits now. The new pin will really help out with those guys having the occasional light strike and not wanting to go up in their spring weight.

  8. Yup...I'm lost.....

Wes- Either way the Xtreme sear and factory are both identical as far as dimensions are concerned. As stated above the Xtreme sear does come with a more natural finish (for a cast part) but is far from being drop-in if you want the most out of it. Regardless it sounds like your setup is working fine for you as of now and i see no reason for you to change what you have.

I was under the impression that many of the nonxtreme parts are only surface hardened and polishing them can result in a very weak metal contact.

This can be avoided by heating the part up.... use slow RPM's and be patient with your polishing, allow your product to cool if needed and try not to produce to much heat. Honestly the only parts you should worry about is your hammer hook area and Sear face....

The Xtreme sear is identical to the one you already have, except that it's finished differently so that you cannot tell when IPSC shooters break the rules and polish theirs it is nice and silver from the factory and has a slick finish. ;)

As to the trigger bar spring, I had to google to confirm you're referring to what most of us call the "plunger spring" here on BEnos. Now I know the factory name for it:

    http://benstoegerproshop.com/copy-of-eaa-tanfoglio-witness-trigger-bar-spring-3-7-3-8-3-9-3-10-1/

No. Especially if you're going to fit your gun with the Titan/BOLO combination later on from Patriot Defense and really rework your trigger, a reduced power spring here (EGD or Henning) will often cause the hammer to fall too early in DA and not strike hard enough.

We're getting 5 and even 4 pound double action triggers these days with the right combination of parts, and that spring polished like crazy (along with the trigger bar plunger) but otherwise left alone.

The Xtreme trigger bar plunger assembly is no different than the factory besides the finish..... it does not come with a lighter/reduced spring.

  11. It helps giving a little more info..... what was your split on your shots? have you been able to maintain a tight two shot group before? What PF ammo are you running? Did you eat Wheaties before going out shooting?

I would also like to see some options to bring down weight for C.O. with out  having to sacrifice grip or badepads.

I am going to shoot a couple of local matches with my S3 with a venom mounted on it.  If I like it my next build will be a S2 for carry optics.

I think there is plenty of market for some lighter parts built with the same quality you guys put into all of your optimized parts.

Ive got a few ideas now that could save upwards of 1 OZ that would require just two easy parts changed out...... we shall see
