  1. Clean link to the Aguila Small Pistol Primers. Still in stock as a moment ago: Sorry folks, every link I try (even just brownells main site seems to route through something like viglink) [Sidebar] I see what happened with the original link. The Brownells+email campaign was the "link text", but the underlying link went through viglink. edit: weird. Even the link I pasted above has viglink in it. Might be a thing for every link "out of here" or "into there"? Check out Brownells and search for Aguila Primers.
  2. Brownells has CCI SPP limited to 2 packs of 1,000.
  3. For CO, I wouldn't think there's too much of an advantage either way. Generally, I see a couple of common things in the 4.25" vs 5.0" discussion: Velocity: the extra .75" can get you a slight bump in velocity. If you have a reliable load that makes power factor, then I don't see much of real advantage. Sight radius: not very relevant for CO since the sight mounting locations is on the same part of the slide and you're using the dot. The other thing that I can't really make a fair comparison for (I've only run a 5" for a couple of matches) Weight/Balance: obviously the 5" is a couple of ounces heavier. Additional weight seems to be in vogue, but keep in mind that the slide isn't dead weight. Hopefully someone who shoots both slides more often can share their thoughts on the weight/balance comparison. To add a bit of context: I've been shooting a 4.25" in Production and will be switching to carry optics after November. I have a couple of Performance Center Slides that I picked up. They're both 4.25". If you happen to have one (regardless of length) then I would say stick with it and get a backup of the same.
  4. Neat! But the downside is that Racker-Jackers are currently prohibited for CO and would push the competitor into the Open Division. (D7 item 22) Someday, maybe...
  5. I shot my buddy's Steel Master for a few months (I'm a production diehard and they wanted to see what would happen). I ended up using my Production load which was 3.3 grains of Red Dot under a 147 grain coated bullet. This load chrono'd at 134PF at the Top Gun Championship out of a 4.25" M&P. In the Steel Master it was pretty violent and dot bounced quite a bit. I upped the powder charge to 3.5/3.6 (It's a Lee Autodisk so there's only so much fine tuning available). It steadied the dot, but the smoke/soot/residue was nuts. In the following video a Production shooter learns the meaning of "24 / 23 reloadable". Probably could have been more aggressive on the first paper. Bad positioning into the plate rack. Yes, the last plate on the plate rack was a surprise hit so there was a bit of a delay. https://www.facebook.com/6413977/videos/10105339865773045/ Keep in mind: Red Dot is a very fast powder--faster than titegroup. I wouldn't recommend it if you have other powders available. If nothing else, you can see that the gun survived a few months of it.
  6. https://forums.brianenos.com/topic/286083-camera-while-shooting-comps/ I opted for a firefly q6. Nice and low profile (sits on the underside of the whichever hat I want to wear. I'm using a belt clip as opposed to drilling, so I can easily move it. https://www.facebook.com/Rez805/videos/10105269401618775/ There is a built-in gyro/stabilizer but it's not as good as a GoPro. Depending on how to wear your hat you can even catch if you had your finger in the trigger guard. https://youtu.be/R9a1a1yv5Ys
  7. For edc? I would think that best recommendation for edc would be to keep the dot on at all times, have a good supply of batteries, swap the batteries on some sort of schedule based on how long the dot is expected to last (usually found in the user guide...probably a good idea to replace it well before that time estimate).
  8. Yep. In somewhat related trivia: The adoption of the Gregorian Calendar resulted in an interesting September in 1752.
  9. I just checked mine and it doesn't have any wear.
  10. Oh no, they didn't abandon the CORE models. In fact, there was quite a bit of hype/excitement/"when will we see these in stock!!!!???" surrounding the 2.0 CORE release. I think there was a thread about someone making a heavyweight version of the backstrap. I'll dig it up. Edit:
  11. Yes, my lens gets a bit sooty after a while. I tend to wipe it down during make ready if it really bothers me. Aside from that, it appears that a Sig Romeo 3 Max covers the majority of the hole with little to no impact on ejection. Someone posted a great set of pictures recently in this subforum As for a permanent fix? Perhaps dropping a bit of weld on the hole and filing it to make sure it clears the slide. Edit: I'm not sure if filling the hole will affect functionality, but it doesn't strike me as a hazard.
  12. CORE models are available for the 1.0 and 2.0 (probably tough to find a 2.0 at this point). In addition, you can have a regular slide milled for a specific mounting pattern of you prefer a specific dot without having to deal with plates. I don't know of a quick and easy replacement part. The only replacement that comes to mind involves adding a magwell--obviously a no-go for CO. Ifyou think about its function (it holds the backstrap in place) you might consider ditching the existing backstrap and filling the the frame with some compound (e.g. tungsten putty) and add a layer of silicon carbide or wrap it with something (like a Hogue, Talon, or Pachmyer grip sleeve). You get the benefit of added weight and you wouldn't have to deal with the rod that holds the backstrap in place.
  13. I ran the hinged trigger for a couple of years. I ended up using their polymer curved trigger with the competition internals (non-forward set sear, but the loop is open so the break-point is pretty far forward . . . it just has a ton of overtravel). The flat face is pretty nice from what I recall (I shot a buddy's setup for a match with the flat face + forward set sear kit). Very nice break and short reset. I don't have much experience with the sig/Glock, so I can't really make any comparisons. I don't think you're really at a disadvantage with a 4.25". My loads are coming in at 137pf and they feel great and more importantly I understand how the gun is going to feel with the load I'm using. It's hard for me to estimate the advantage of chasing the power factor floor, so I just set my press and go with it. One thing to note (I didn't see this mentioned in your post), the ported barrel would put you into Open Division.
  14. I wouldn't mind seeing fewer arrays comprised of 2 "no shoot sandwiches" next to each other. Fortunately they don't appear too often where I go. I guess it's a bit of a pet peeve.
  15. IIRC, the Manny Stomp Pad was at the 2019 Area 6 Championship. I saw a video with Hwansik K. Please note: I don't want this video to be sole reference point--it's just the only video that popped up in my head and it does show it in action. It's a neat design and you can have some fun with it in a stepping-stone/the grass is lava kind of way.
  16. .224 Weatherby? Edit: probably not. Shoulder looks too "normal".
  17. From this weekend jTWRyuG2wdk I ended up doing a PIP for it. I elected to use the sound from the 3rd person view as it sounds "better". The 3rd person camera is a Hawkeye Firefly 8s.
  18. I agree that 3rd person footage is more helpful (think about footwork). If you want a low profile first person view, here's a setup I've been using: Hawkeye firefly q6 + Velcro + Tandy leather belt clip + hat
  19. I don't know that there's a specific rule to cite, but one thing that happens from time to time: the squad behind you catches up and there are people from that squad in the shooting area trying to do a walk-through during the reset.

    Sorry Dear

    Yippy-ky-aa Mister Falcon!
  21. Yeah, it looks like the only offer that comes close to that is the non-ported, no slide-cut, PC, Pro Series, CORE. Wow, that was a mouthful. https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/performance-center-mp-9-m20-core-pro-series-5-barrel
  22. I've been using bayou bullets for the past few years (95, 105, 115, 120 tcg, 124, 135, 145, 147. Wow, so all except the 150/160 grains). I order by the case for the free shipping and the delivery time is under a week to CA. For the 124 grain bullets: 3,500 @$246 shipped works out to $0.0703 per round. Different manufacturers have discount codes so that might factor into your decision.
  23. I have the ghosts. I usually shoot production and dipped into CO last year. A full 140mm mag shook out with 2 leaf springs. I trimmed the included grub screw, fit it so that the mag wasn't impossible to draw (edit: but was recessed enough to prevent scraping my finger), and haven't run into that issue since. I haven't removed the screws since I installed them. I don't feel that the extra security has come at the price of easy extraction. I don't have experience with the DAA racers.
  24. There was a lot buzz around Alliant Sport Pistol. It's supposed to be similar to N320 but cheaper. Here's a 12 page thread with some data (Standard disclaimer about "use at your own risk")
