  1. Oh, you had to show me a dovetail sight, now I'm really thinking.
  2. Sorry I wasn't very clear, but I did look up that sight base and it is .25x.25x.1.75. I just didn't look at you pictures close enough, all the info was right in plain sight. Guess I will need to get on the mill.
  3. Thank you ysrracer, what is the height if the mount?
  4. Looking for some help on lightening a 1911 slide, I know there are cuts, holes, and some internal methods, but I am interested in how much material can be removed from the external dimensions of the slide, I wish to keep the appearance of the slide. I have found drawings with dimensions internal for a slide, but not external, anyone have any experience?
  5. I want to remove 1.5" from the barrel of my S&W 929, does anyone know where I can get a new sight base? Bowen is out of stock.
  6. New frames are no longer, Caspian had a few some months ago, I will miss their product.
  7. I have an old ycm-30, on the blink right now, so when I get the chance, I use the Bridgeport at work.
  8. Can anyone help. I am looking for a 5" barrel for a S&W 929? I don't really want to cut down my existing barrel.
  9. If I didn't believe that these provisional changes are being introduced to support manufactures and the sponsored side of the house, I'd almost agree with them. But when the ink is barely dry on the announcement, there are new accessories being introduced by the manufacturers to support these new provisional divisions, could be coincidence? Divisions were setup to maintain a type of firearm to control improvement and modifications to the firearm, to bring out the shooter's ability. As the rules are changed, the race is on to see how far these new rules can be stretched, and new markets are created to satisfy this erg. I'm not afraid of change but change for the sake of change is not always good. Pretty soon, there may be to many divisions, and not enough people in each, for the division to be recognized.
  10. I would agree with ZZT, learn how the system works, and with a little pertinence and practice, you can achieve the trigger that you like. One thing I would suggest is, if you venture down this path, invest in a good set of stones and jig (I use a Harrison Design True Radius jig), this will help in maintaining your hammer/sear alignment.
  11. It's always the battery, brand new, no matter how many you try.
  12. Common issue, amazing that they suggest a different tool than the supplied?
  13. You will have to be patient in your search, but there are plenty of 10mm out there. A new barrel and you have a 40. I shoot a Dan Wesson 40 SS, it is well made and tight, a little expensive, but worth it.
  14. The answer to your problem, if you keep the pistol, is in the second and third responses. I was achieving the same with my 929, and after a lot of research, I came to the same answer. I'm using Blue Bullets 147gr 38/357 bullets, Winchester brass, Federal small pistol primers to help with the reduced hammer strike because I reduced the trigger pull. I am finally starting to like the 929, it's almost 100% reliable. I tried the reliable tried and true .356 9mm loads that produce great accuracy in other pistols, doesn't work in the 929. I usually shoot open, it's much easier to get a good load.
  15. I'll be watching this post with keen interest, am entertaining some slide milling.
  16. Sorry, I had their name wrong, here is the correct web site https://apwcogan.com/
  17. The HC stays put, even on the rails. I used Advanced Weapons Plating, great work.
  18. No experience with DLC but have years on open pistols with Hard Chrome. Am very happy with the HC, wear is very minimal and is easy to clean. If the HD gets a small scratch, it can be buffed and removed, I've gotten over the scratches. I'm building a Limited pistol and am toying around with a DLC finish, because I want a black pistol? Have heard nothing but good about it.
  19. I've used EGW and Wilson bullet proof, both are good options. I started using Harrison Design years ago when everyone else was out of stock. My experience is, that the quality, in both appearance and function, are top notch. I like my triggers at 2.5#, and HD make this an easy process to adjust, and they hold their fit after thousands of rounds each year. Annually, I tear down and do a complete cleaning, and while I have it apart, I lightly stone the trigger and sear. My go to trigger.
  20. Very nice, solid, hopefully have my mill up and running soon, a good break-in project.
  21. Check the radius of the pin, maybe holding the slide stop off the frame on the left side.
  22. Turn it off after the shoot, and replace the battery every season, you've got a nice pistol, and a lot of pricy accessories, so a couple of bucks a year for a battery shouldn't hurt. I have two Ruger's set-up almost identical to yours, never had a problem during a season.
