  1. One question, why? After comparing price for plated, lead and coated bullets - My conslusion for 9mm, is that Extreme plated is as cheap as the other alternatives (considering, tax, shipping, etc) For .45 ACP I have a local supplier that sells lead 230 gn for $10 per 100 (inc Sales Tax). That is somewhat cheaper than plated Extreme, but not really all that much. Since, the .45ACP 1911 has standard riffling, I found that shooting lead was OK but certainly more smoke. So, I am still undecided as to if it is worth the difference in price. However, I have not found coated bullets that would provide any price advantage to plated. What have I missed?
  2. 200g Xtreme FN seem to have feeding issues in both Regent and Ruger if not using heavy crimpt and the longest possible OAL that will chamber without touching the lands.
  3. Suprised that CFE Pistol is not one of the top choices. I see AutoComp mentioned and CFE seems very close to AutoComp by all of the reviews. Is there a reason that CFE is not more popular?
  4. Well, did test loads with Xtreme 124 RN Plated, from 3.0 to 4.4 using TG. I found there was a point around 3.7 where accuracy was good and cycled Glock 26, 17 and BabyEagle compact, but a little dirty. I found another good accuracy point at 4.2 that was much cleaner. The "basic" 20 page load manual that came with my Lock and Load entry level press, indicates 4.4 as max for 124g FMJ, so I "assume" that 4.2 is a safe and non-destructive load. No signs of over pressure even in the unsupported BE. 4.2 also seemed to be the sweet point for Precision Delta 124g FMJ. I use a light crimp with a separate crimp die. Winchester small pistol primers. Range pickup brass. As will all of these topics milage will vary.
  5. 4.8g TG X-treme 230gn RN OAL= 1.21 4.8g TG X-treme 225gn FN OAL = 1.16 5.2g TG X-treme 200fn FN OAL=1.16 5.0g International X-Treme 230gn RN OAL=1.21 These seem to be most accurate in my Regent 1911 5"
  6. I would not recommend International in general because of the warning from Hodgdon. I ended up with International as the result of it being the only power available locally. However, I have had really good loads using Internation and 230 X-treme RN and 225 X-treme FN. 5.0g works well for me. You can find some loads by looking for AS50N or AP50N loads. International is AS50N.
