  1. Merlin not sure but I have only had time to do 500 using straight nufinish they are nice and shinny and smooth. I then used my single stage press and deprimed and resize with no lube runs smooth as silk. Using a carbide die. My main concern was when I added straight nufinish it clumped up wasn't sure if this was a big deal or not thought maybe mineral spirits would thin it and mix better, I am still in the learning process I ordered a 50lb bag of 20/40 corncob this is really fine maybe should of went to the next course grade up will wait and see. Oh and the cost was only $18.00 but the shipping matched that. Thanks everyone for the help and I sure more duh questions to come.
  2. Well I am back for some more stupid questions. I read where some use it straight and some mix it 50/50 with mineral spirits. I just bought a bottle to try no mineral spirits handy so I tried it straight. Not sure how much to use so I tried three caps full, tumble for about 15 mins. seemed to want to clump so I went ahead and added 500 piece of brass looks good and shinny. How much do you all add to a tumbler and would it be better to mix mineral spirits. The tumbler is advertised as holding 1000 9mm. I first bought the walnut lizard litter form the pet store works good as a cleaner. I found a place to buy 50 lb bags of corncob so what to use it to polish with. Darn shipping cost more the the bag of media. Thanks Howie
  3. UMMMM media separator also maybe? May try that as soon as I get my girlfriend to go to wally world, small town here someone would tell I was buying ladies stuff
  4. I think their taking about the new case feeder for the rl550b from Dillon. Cant seem to find the darn link where everyone is talking about using them and setting them up if I find will follow up with it. Think I found it http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...pic=32029&h
  5. OK I have looked every where but cant find where to purchase a lee "u" undersize die. I am setting my dillon press to load 9 mm. Can anyone tell me where I can find them. I did find EGW undersize so maybe go with their's.
  6. Well its me again still digging and learning will digging anyway. I have several pounds of 3N37 on hand and would like to use it with the 147Gr precision delta bullets I got. I done a search lots of loads for vv but none for the 3N37 that I could find. Minor load is fine plan on shooting single stack and steel. I have a SA with 5 in barrel thanks again Howie
  7. I want to thank all of you that replied this is a great learning and helpful site even if you are 60 years old Thanks Rob I called today and Patricia today and she let me order a smaller amount to try .
  8. After reading several threads here I would like to try the 147gr. bullets in my 9 mm single stack. Is there any place I can purchase less than 2k from their web site, lot of bullets to use for paper weights just in case I find a better setup. I am using 9 mm zero bullets in my 38 open gun but didn't think I needed the jhp in the single stack and the Deltas are cheaper. Thanks I am learned a lot using this forum.
  9. I hope this hasn't been beaten to death but I did a search with no results can anyone give me a good source of once fired brass I use only new in my open gun but would like some 9 mm to practice with. Thanks in advance
  10. there is a topic on this subject on the reloading forum 9MM/38, I use .355 9 MM in my 38 super open gun
  11. I have used midway for several orders great to work with. You might also try Graf & Sons they are also good to work with. Both out located here in Missouri sort of handy for me.
  12. I use Zero 9 mm bullets in my 38 super shoots great, but it has less than 5k rounds, I may have to move to the .356 if I start to lose my accuracies but this should be severals thousand more rounds I hope.
  13. rozedist.com is the online dealer for zero bullets.
  14. Zero makes a 9mm 125 gr jhp which was recommended to me because of the jhp don't have the lead exposed at the base. I believe Roze distribution handles them for zero.
  15. Must of bought my MK IV to soon or I don't know what a usb port looks like no ports on it. Has anyone messed with the printer output is it irda compatible cant seem to find any info on it just curious as most laptops have infrared inputs. thanks for any help
  16. Hi Steven: Know what you are talking about on the one at a time also out of 20 loads set to 7.7 gr only had 3 at 7.8 damn have to adjust get the other loads. I just noticed that you are using fmj bullets, I switched to jhp after reading here where it's possible for the comp to build up lead as the base in a fmj is exposed. But I have no clue if this is correct as I am new to open gun also might want to check with others. The gentlemen I purchased mine from said he used fmj and never had any trouble with lead build up. Maybe since I am not sure should of kept my mouth shut but you seemed to be helpful with your load data so trying to be of help I HOPE
  17. Standles: Let me know how the loads turn out I am trying to setup my 38 super using vv3n37 also. I am using 125 gr. zero jhp .355 wsp primers oal of 1.235 Starline brass starting at 7.7 gr. but haven't got to try them yet. I bought the gun used and the loads that were used in it were 124 gr zero fmj .355 wsp primers 8.0 gr vv 3n37 oal 1.255 I shorten the oal due to the difference in bullet lengths hoping that was the right thing to do I have NOT TESTED any of these LOADS. I am just now getting my Dillon press setup and crono is now here maybe soon I can test and post the results. 4 port comp 2 side port 3 barrel holes As you all can tell I am new to the open gun.
  18. An easy out requires a hole to be drilled to screw it into so try a reverse drill bit for the hole and you might get lucky and the bit screw it out.
  19. Congratulations to a small town Missouri shooter 10th in the world shoots way to GO Manny.
  20. Ok Ok I want pics too lol I am in the process of order the materials to build my own plate rack but pics would realy be great. I am planning on using either 5 in or 6 in square plates 1/2 in thick hope this will work. Square tubing for the frame. Thanks in advance howard_63501@yahoo.com
  21. Thanks for the relies: I was adjusting the powder die so the powder bar will have it full travel and the bell on the brass was about .015, the die is at the bottom of the tool head wasn't sure if I had messed up since it set so high in the tool head. If it ok to set that high in the tool head I will raise it a little more for less bell. Althought the crimp die seems to remove the bell anyway.
  22. Setting up my new 550 when I have the bell setting looking good and powder measure seems to work fine. I noticed the bottom end of the die is not quite to the bottom of the tool head. Not sure if this is ok or need to figure out how to get it lower in the tool head.
  23. Just bought a new MKIV didnt have the manual but Pact send one darn quick too good service. But no where does it tell me what the plt1 plt2 and aux are. Any help would be great I presume the aux if for a external power supply as when reading all I could find on them someone mentioned getting the adapter from radio shack. Thanks for the help
  24. Does the Pact MKIV come with the battery installed I just recieved mine and the there was a battery installed and no manual Pact is going to send me the manual. Guess I was thinking has this one been opened. Oh Sorry but its not from be as I got it localy along with the chrony mounts. Thanks.
  25. I have a 38 super open pistol it was setup to run using 9mm 124 gr. FMJ Zero bullets. The gentlemen that owned it before me said it ran great, so dont want to change to much to the setup. After reading about the lead trouble's buildup in the comp. was wanting to go to JHP but zero only makes a 125 gr. in 9mm also 125 gr. in 38 super (.356). Zero sent me samples of the three bullets both the 125 are .022 shorter than the 124 gr. I presume if I keep my same oal these will not be seating as deep. Not sure home much affect the seating depth will have on the load also the 38 supers will change the load too I think (duh) trying to learn. Any Ideas on how much and if any changes these would make to my loads. Thanks in advance great forum and I am learning a lot.
