  1. Same issue with all rounds, factory ammo and hand loads alike.
  2. I was shooting off a rest, I don't have access to a ransom rest, with any other gun I own, I can put my shots on top of each other off hand at 15 yards. I don't think the issue is me.
  3. anybody with some input? im reading everywhere about the 9mm having early unlocking issues, but I have no idea how to tell if that's what im experiencing.
  4. UPDATE: so ive sorted out the issues with the FTE/FTF, now ive run into a couple more issues. the ammo issue was sorted out by just firing the crap out of it (about 800-1000rd so far), it feeds and fires my handloads perfectly, and only sometimes doesn't lock back on an empty mag with crappy factory ammo. The problems im having now are. .. The gun shoots 2.2 inches low at 7 yards from a rest, all shots in 1/2 inch. OK fine, ive seen factory sights off before, no big deal....Called dawson precision talked the math with them and they asked me to step out to 15 yards and see where it was. OK...now from a rest, the gun is shooting 4 inch groups at 15 yards..kind of hard to tell dawson how low I am when the spread is so big.None the less, dawson had me take the middle of the group and it came out to 3.2 inches low, and are sending me a .280 front sight (stock was .315), this will at least center my group. But now my concern is the guns accuracy itself.. Whats weird is its more of a vertical string (about 1.5 inches wide and 4 inches tall). Ive never had a problem shooting one ragged hole at 15 yards with any other gun, let alone off a rest. What on earth is going on here? I called S&W and they said 4 inches at 15 yards is okay, but it should really be around 3 inches or less..again, this just seems a bit loose for something that wears the performance center name. id be unhappy with any handgun that performed this way, are my expectations too high? Have I just been extremely lucky with the past 20 something guns ive owned?
  5. Thanks for the info, im headed out to the range today to see what she likes best!
  6. yeah its mixed brass, good to know, thanks! I loaded up some Dummy rounds when I was doing my plunk test and even with a round loaded to 1.165, I didn't feel anything. im used to loading .308 where your jump to the lands is important, is this the same case in pistols, or is it less of a factor?
  7. ive got some test loads worked up with some Eggleston munitions 115gr coated bullets, ive got 4.5, 4.8 and 5.1gr of autocomp under them. One thing I notice is that my lee die is producing a variance in my seating depth from 1.13x to 1.15, this is probably likely due to variances in the bullet(I am taper crimping with a separate die) but does anyone foresee it causing a problem? they all pass a plunk test in my 5" M&P PC Note: Hodgdon's load data calls for 4.4gr to 5.1gr max at a COL of 1.100
  8. Thanks for the info guys, I thought my M&P performance center would have a fully supported chamber, and I've read a couple places that it did. I'll have to look into it more.
  9. I'm not sure I follow that logic...what you're using the gun for doesn't change the pressure or wether or not the load is safe. A load that is going to blow up in a IDPA gun is going to blow up in a open gun too. With that said, I do intend to use this gun for open.
  10. thanks! ill post when I resolve it! While were at it, anyone here have any experience with Win Autocomp? i've got a pound of it, and 500 115gr eggleston munitions poly coated bullets and i'm looking for a load that would suit this ported gun. PF isn't really a concern for me yet as I haven't stepped into the competition realm, just want something that suits this gun the best so I can practice and head in that direction.
  11. Sort of, I was always taught that reloading past MAX is dangerous, let alone 2-3gr past max with sometimes less COL than the book. then again up until now I have only been reloading .308win, I don't know how pistol differs. I have heard that autocomp doesn't really start burning clean until around 5.0-5.5gr, with that said.. is it really necessary that I start loading at 4.4 when people are running 7+ without issues? does anyone with poly bullet experience know if grains are usually increased with poly over lead, or decreased?
  12. Anyone have any recommendations for poly bullets using WIN autocomp? I've got 500 eggleston munitions 115gr poly bullets and a pound of autocomp ready for my 5" M&P PC ported. The load data on hodgdon shows 4.4 starting and 5.1 max for a 115gr LRN, but every thread I see, people are using auto comp from 5.5 to 7.0gr, especially the major PF guys. What gives?
  13. They are not, I will be reloading for it soon, but this was some factory federal ammo. This same ammo functions flawlessly in my glock 19 and sig p938
  14. Hey all, wanted to throw this issue out there and see if I can get any insight on how to fix this issue. I have a new M&P performance center ported 9L and its having trouble both ejecting and chambering rounds. Ammo is 115gr RN FMJ and I don't intend to step up to a heavier projectile, id like this gun to function with anything. I'm not a new shooter, limp wristing is not the issue. When I shoot, sometimes the slide doesn't come back far enough to eject the spent round, when it does, it barely tosses the brass a few inches and then jams the next round into the feed ramp and gets stuck. When that happens a very gentle tap on the rear of the slide is all it takes to chamber the round. The gun DID function a bit more reliably with 124gr projectiles. But like I said, I want to be able to shoot 115gr. The gunsmith at the range agreed with me that the factory recoil spring felt awfully heavy for the gun, so i've ordered up some ISMI 11# and 13# springs from SSS, the factory spring is 16#. Now my concern is, the lighter recoil spring may help with ejecting the round, but I fear it may not help the issue of chambering the next round. im unsure if the reason the next round isn't chambering is because the slide isn't coming back far enough to get a full run at the next round, or if the spring just isn't cutting it in terms of pushing the slide forward. im not 100% certain if a striker spring change would help anything? I called S&W and they are sending me a factory spring and guide rod assembly, as they don't have any different weight springs for the MP PC9, not really sure why, but ill take the free parts.. any insight is appreciated!!
