Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I fired off about 50 rounds earlier today with no issues. I do not recall doing anything different in terms of the loads. Maybe I just had to put a few rounds through the gun.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Seanc - it's funny you should mention primers backing out of primed brass with no powder or bullet. I also wanted to set the main spring for Federal primers this past weekend. If I just loaded primers with no powder or bullet, I could fire them off in my backyard without worrying about going to the range. The primers backed out on EVERY fired piece of brass. I spoke to a gunsmith and he explained why it happened. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to explain the other problem! The only advice I was able to get was to post something in Brian Enos' forum! 3. Most of my brass is picked up at the local ranges in Cincinnati and the Miami Rifle & Pistol club. I would be quite surprised if any of it had ever been loaded with European primers. I would assume most of the brass was factory or reloaded with CCI, Federal, or Winchester primers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. The fired primers are backing out to the point that the cylinder will not turn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'll try and reproduce the problem (for pictures and measurement) tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'm using TK Custom clips. They are 0.035" inch thick. I didn't take pictures and don't have a measurement. They backed out far enough that I wasn't able to pull the trigger in double action or even cock the hammer for single action. The cylinder came out only after applying much more force than I'd like. 7. I've just started reloading for my S&W 929 revolver using W231, Federal primers, 125 grain RN bullets from BBI, and range brass. Rounds with 3.8 grains of powder chrono'ed ~980 fps, rounds with 4.0 grains of powder chrono'ed ~1020 fps. This recipe has been relatively succesful for my M&P. However, 15-20% of the primers are backing out when used in the 929. Does anybody have any thoughts about why that is happening?
