Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. New die sent by Dillon doesn't shave the cases but makes a "ridge" above the extraction groove on every case. The internal dimensions of the two carbide dies are clearly different than the steel die. I sent them both back along with some of the cases I had sized and some unfired cases. Going to punt on the carbide dies for now and stick with the steel.
  2. Machinist confirmed .005" difference. Dillon is sending a new die.
  3. Yeah I can't believe I did it three times. It was actually extruding brass out the bottom of the die. I've got a machinist checking it against a steel one with tools designed for measuring parts with tapered bores.
  4. I bought a carbide 30-06 sizing die with the goal of better case sizing consistency due to the lower friction. I was using it for the first time last night and it destroyed the three cases I attempted to size, with one of them getting stuck. I know that dies are tapered but the ID is .005" smaller than my steel die. Is this a defective die? I use Imperial sizing wax.
  5. I get a variation of up to .005" in my 30-06 cases as measured in a Hornady LnL comparator. Talked to Dillon on the phone today and the tech said this was normal. I realize brass can spring but this is more than I've seen in a single stage.
  6. My RL550b is set up to load 30-06. Besides the 308 dies and an extra tool head, what additional is recommended? Thanks!
  7. Been following the forum and decided to join. Shoot milsurp rifles, M1's, M1903, M1917, Mosins, K98. Load only 30-06 to this point but soon will start on my backlog of 308 cases.
