  1. We have no AP facilities, but I am considering a push for some on our 30 point bullseye range. Please offer suggestions for a beginning range on the cheap and easy. I have a fair understanding of the AP courses, having read the rule book. Also my own guns are strictly bullseye or production. Where would a _custom_ made bullseye wadcutter 1911 or custom made CMP legal 1911 fit in? How about 92fs with CMP legal upgrades? Thanks BEshooter in Orygun "looks for range" how appropriate, on the left there
  2. I had the Dillon puller with the aluminum handle. It did last quite a while smacking it on the cement porch step. But the metal handle eventually broke off from the plastic head. Dillon exchanged it for the all plastic one and it is still going strong. I did however discover that smacking it onto a metal clad dead blow hammer face to face works perfectly. Plus i don't have to go outside to the cement.
  3. On my 550b I have had the herky jerky double bellcrank freeze up twice in the powder dropping position. Both times there was galling inside the slide body. The second time I found a slight bump on the pistol powderbar itself right opposite the plastic squares notch. I filed the bump flush with the bars side and have had no trouble since. There is even less herky jerky. I still prefer the older spring loaded slide on my older powder measure. JH
  4. I'll give the roller more time, but so far I do not like it at all.
  5. My 550b is several years old and has primer slides hollowed out underneath. Only primer problem I've had is a buildup of Bullseye powder crud on rare occasions that sweeps right out. Two things did bind up though. The primer actuator rod where it pivots in the block on the stand tube galled and froze up. I reamed it with a right size drill and lubed it up. Also the main linkage pivots below dried out. The little holes for lube plugged and again the pivots there galled and jammed up. I took the lower linkage and ram all apart, cleaned it thoroughly, polished off some galling and put it all back together with FP10 oil in it for now on. Dillon provided a line up tool for the plate on top of the ram that worked real slick.
  6. I had a stuck bullet one time in a match. The good thing was it was during slowfire. I was using my first batch of 45 acp ammo made on my new 550b. Being new to me, one got by with no powder. At first I thought it was just a misfire. It just went click. I opened the slide and out came an empty case. ????? My second thought was it short cycled and returned the empty to the chamber. My 41 S&W does that with SK ammo. But no, this just went click. Luckily I looked into the barrel and saw the silver lead bullet about 1/2" forward. I grabber my 1/4" brass rod, left the line. I placed the rod into the muzzle and tapped the rod down on the cement floor. If that had been in timed or rapid, I might have missed looking in the barrel. I know better now. And I load on the 550 better. BeS
  7. picture at http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v24/tgtpix/100_0498.jpg I just moved the top bolt back on the strong mount to the rear top hole and drilled a new hole for a bottom bolt (out of the pix unfortunately) The extra room to get at the bullet placing and advancing the turntable is more convenient.
  8. I moved my bullet tray back on the strong mount. It just took a little hole drilling. Now when I place a 45 head for seating my wrist can rest on the corner of the tray. I also got the second bin mount for the priming side. Very nice! BeS
  9. I also thank Dillon. I cleaned and re-setup a 550B that has been idle in our clubhouse for members to use. It needed a few small parts and springs that I called them to order. They sent them free. Thank you Dillon
  10. Ditto what Cecil says (cr10x). Ultradots rock in bullseye. I have about 6 UD sights and one Aimpoint Comp which is about the only dot sight that I have found that can keep up with the UD. BE
  11. Some BE shooters would argue that the proper crimp into the lead does indeed help accuracy at 50 yards. I typically crimp into LSWC to .465. I even crimp a bite into the FMJ hardball by .002. My tests on the Ransom show that it is consistant and more accurate this way. Im not arguing the crimp, just pointing out that there is other information out there. BE
