Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Can you have cocking serrations milled into a Glock slide?
  2. This is the set up I have as well. They work great until you face long tight shots. At my last match, there was a stage with 6 mini-poppers at 40 yards. At that distance, the poppers are a white blurr. I got them all but my time was terrible. I'm giving Carry Optics a try next year. Then I'll shoot with glasses with no correction, since my distance vision isn't too bad.
  3. I had some shooting glasses made with a +1.00 lens for my dominant eye and distance prescription (-.50) in my other eye. I recently decided I shoot just as well or better with just plain lenses, so that's what I'm doing for now. The rear sight is quite blurry. Front sight is almost in focus and distant targets look normal. I find that the +1.00 lens makes distant targets look too blurry. 54 years old here. By the way, I have the Rudy Project glasses with an insert, so it's easy to go with or without the insert. It's a slick set up.
  4. It feels slow to me to flip the safety off after my hands come together, but then again, I'm new to 1911's, so maybe I need to work on it more.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I've been dry firing, so I want to make sure I'm grooving a good technique. I'm flipping the safety off after clearing the holster, but before my hands come together. I also read about how JJ flips the safety on for reloads. Now that's impressive!
  6. I'm new to 1911's. When during the draw stroke should the safety be flipped off? While shooting a stage, should the safety ever be engaged? Like while moving or doing reloads? I know of one GM level shooter who engages the safety when moving between shooting positions. I'm just wondering if this is common practice. Thanks!
  7. Shooting in the rain isn't a problem. It's the taping of the targets in the rain that sucks. Also, cold hands and cold plastic guns don't work too well together.
