  1. Oh Boy, the dreded slide stop working out problem. I had this problem last season. Installed a new slide stop to solve the problem. The ear on my slide stop somehow got bent.
  2. Well I'll be damn, a Western PA. Section Championship. This will be my first.
  3. I figured that I would post this since I did it twice now. 2004 handgun nationals, I am finishing the last stage of an array shooting at some targets about 20 yards away. I finish, unload and show clear, holster, look up and there are two holes in the head of a no shoot a little more than arms legth away. Sh$t, how the heck did I do that I ask myselve. Today, I shoot an array through a small port, move on, and finish the stage. The Ro tells me I shot a hole in the barricade when I was shooting through the small port. How the heck did I do that I asked myself. I figured it out. The C-more is mounted above the barrel and just because my C-more dot is on the target I intend to shoot, the barrel of my gun was in the first case, right in front of the no shoot, and in the 2nd case right in front of the barricade.
  4. Chalk up another disapointed Comp Tac user. I now have two holsters and two mag pouches that will collect dust. That aint right. IDPA, please revisit the Comp Tac issue. We have a lot of money tied up in Gregs products. Doug
  5. Well, I just ordered a unit 1 with 4 mags. I 'll update in 6 weeks when I get it. Question for anyone that is using one of these units with a scope. What is better, the scope mounted to the rail on the slide, or the scope mounted to the frame? I plan on mounting the scope on my STI frame the has a frame mounted scope mount, but if need be I could use my other Limited gun STI frame and use the slide rail mounted scope mount. But if I go the rail mounted slide mount I would have to buy a new C-more with the weaver mounts. For those of you using a frame mounted scope mount. When you swap out the convertion kit with your other top end Does the scope need to be resighted in?, or is the point of impact pretty close. Thanks, Doug
  6. For me, I personaly like the snappier bounce of a 125 grain 38 super at 130 PF compared to a 135 grain 40 at 130 PF. However the 40 is very shootable. I just feel that I can track the sights a little better with the 38 super compared to the 40. Doug
  7. Are these kits made to be "drop in", and is there any chance that the kit could do any damage to your existing frame or lower end?
  8. I was thinking of getting a Marvel 22 convertion kit for my STI framed widebody open gun. Anybody have one of these convertion kits? I'm looking for good and bad feed back. Thanks, Doug
  9. A buddy of mine and I both have Brazos Limited guns. His gun is set up heavy. Wide long dust cover, Bull barrel, tunston guide rod, but with a lightened slide. My gun is set up to also be IDPA legal so it has a standard dust cover, bushing barrel, steel guide rod, but with a non-lightened slide. When shooting the two guns side my side with the same ammo my freinds heavyier gun definatley tracks the sights much flater then mine. However, I feel that although my gun is boucier, it probably only slows my splits down 1-3 houndreds of a second compared to me shooting my freinds heavier gun. Also, I like the way my lighter gun transitions better between targets. I feel that no matter if you you have a flat shooting limited gun or a flippy limited gun, shoot the piss out of it and you will improove.
  10. Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 5 Pictures of my IDPA ESP/ USPSA Limited Gun. Doug
  11. I had Brazo's build me a gun this year based on an STI doublestack frame that is IDPA complient that doubles as a USPSA limited gun. When switching between IDPA and USPSA I just swap out the guide rod, mag well, and mag button. I use the 126 mags with the international base pads for IDPA. The gun shoots very nice shooting minor loads for IDPA. Majer loads for USPSA are very controlable, but of course you are going to get a little more muzzle rise then if you were shooting a long wide frame with extended dust cover and bull barrel. I will post pictures if someone can host them. Doug
  12. I also have a ProSX with the offset scope mount and I like it just fine. This was my first open gun and scope mount so I can not compare it to a non offset scope mount but anyways a find that sighting at 50 yards is a must do to the windage. If I sight my my gun in at 50 yards, the windage stays true all the way back to point blank. If I were to sight my gun in say at 15 or 20 yards the windage could be 2-4 inches off at 50. Doug
  13. Well, I tested the Nosler 135 JHP's with the Clays. 4.1 grains at 1.135 made me 130 PF. This load felt much better then the N-320. The Combination of the 135 grain bullets with the clays powder seems to make my gun track more like a 38 super. I like it. Thanks for all of the help. Doug
  14. BigDave, Thanks for all of the info. I chronoed some more loads today using the Nosler 135 JHP's with N 320. You were right on the money. My velosity spread in a 10 round string was 75 FPS. Put all 10 rounds within 3 inches though at 50 yards. I bought some Clays powder on the way home from the range today. I need a place to start. How much Clays powder will get 1000 FPS with the Nosler 135's and at what OAL? Thanks, Doug
  15. Make sure that you all are sitting down. I talked to the custom shop and Deb said that the XD Custom Pro retails for $ 2,195.00. I don't think that they will be selling very many at that price. Lead time is 6 to 8 months. Doug
  16. I got my hands on some Nosler 135 JHP's and loaded some up with 5 G of 320 at 1.170. This load ended up at about 120 PF, cycled the gun good, and shot very tight groups. The cases were black with suit. I'm going to try loading 5 G of 320 at a shorter OAL to see if that gets the pressure up a little more to get rid of the black suit and increase my PF. Hopefully they will still feed with that shorter OAL. Doug
  17. That's odd, We shot the Dark house last on Friday and the RO specifically told us that we were not to put the flashlight in our mouths.
  18. Thanks for the tips guys. I just assumed that a lighter bullet would be better. I have 180 G zero bullets that I will have to give a try with N 320. Thanks, Doug
  19. I'm looking to work up a 130 PF load for IDPA ESP division. The lightest JHP bullets that I have found so far are 155 from Montana Gold. Does anyone no if anyone makes a lighter JHP bullet then 155 G. If not, is the 155 G bullet a good choice? I will be running this load through a 5 inch STI. Thanks, Doug
  20. I called Springfield up this mourning and unforchently Debbie from the custom shop wasn't in. The lady I talked was not sure if this gun is avalible yet or of the price. Hi cap 9 mags hold 15 rounds and are 29.95. You got to love that. I'll let you all know when I talk to Debbie. Doug
  21. What a great match. This was the most fun I ever had while standing on two feet. Having said that, this match could have been shot easily in 3 1/2 days. I did not mind spending the week, but I would of liked to shoot a couple of more stages per day. We had enough time that we could of easily shot 29 stages if not 34. Thank you PASA for putting on a great match. Doug
  22. I saw that this question was asked in another thread, but I did not find an answer. This gun looks pretty sweet in the Springfield catolog. Does anyone know for sure if this gun is legal or not for Production in USPSA? Also, does anyone know the price? Thanks, Doug
  23. I have been shooting for the last year a Les Baer ultimate master in 38 super. The gun relly bounces nice with those minor loads. The problem was that I mainly shoot IDPA only in the Winter and I did not get enough trigger time with it so I recently had Brazo's build me a cross competitor 2011. I just got the gun a little over a month ago and have only shot it in USPSA limited. When I get some free time I plan on working up a minor load for IDPA ESP for the Winter. Can anyone recomend a good IDPA holster for a 2011? Doug
  24. Phil, I need to finish getting Gamed Up for IDPA too. Is the Kydex holster for the 2011 off the shelf or do they have to custom make it? I called Comp-tac and they told me that they would have to custom make me a holster for my 2011. I was going to go that route. Doug
  25. 10 stages or whatever the host club can fit in a single day format.
