  1. Going to be shooting supers with a 16"barrel. I would like to hunt deer with it but with maximum versatility. Thanks!
  2. What would you recommend in the $800-$1200 range?
  3. I was also interested it the ts orange but after reading the cz thread for a while it seems like people were having problems with them. Especially with the mags not always dropping free. That's one thing that tanfoglio designed better than cz, the whole mag catch assembly and getting rid of the mag break.
  4. Great advise guys! And thanks for the pictures. Right now I shoot a stock 2 with all the pd goodness. Is all of that really needed on the s/a limited gun since you aren't battling the horrible stock double action of the stock 2? Kind of leaning towards a gold match or limited extreme if I can get away with just polishing everything.
  5. Thinking about shooting limited next year and I really like the tanfo platform. What do you guys do to your limited guns. Do people use stock 2's or 3's in 40 and start with the hammer cocked? Or are the single action triggers that better on the limited guns. Thumb rests? Some pictures would be cool.

  7. Got it from a friend of mine. He bought it used a few years ago and it's just been sitting in his safe. I'll ask him if he has anything else.
  8. Thanks guys! Looking forward to shooting some open this year. I've only ever shot production. Yea I already know what you mean about the 19 rounders without ext basepads. Got a couple mbx on the way. Lol,my wife would like that.
  9. 38 super comp/TJ Caspian hi cap. Shoots good so far, all the mags seem to work well. No clue who built it but everything seems tight.
  10. Thanks! That's the info I was looking for about the red buff scope mount..
  11. Thanks for the help everyone! I'm going to meet up with him to shoot it and see how it feels and also email egw to see if they can tell me anything about the gun. Looking forward to giving open a try.
  12. He did say it's a old egw gun. About 5k rounds on it. I would buy it if it was too good to pass up with the mags but if not I'd rather hold off and save some more for a 9 major.
  13. I am just getting into shooting open and I'm Thinking about buying this old 38 super open gun from a guy locally. He wants $1800 for the whole package. Obviously it's a little dated. But the details are: Hard chrome sti frame accurailed caspian slide egw barrel and comp egw trigger parts red buff scope mount. would this be a good purchase to get started in open? Decent price? Thanks for the help! -Ivan
  14. I've been shooting 165's for the past year and a half 3 gr titegroup at 1.145 oal. 13 lb recoils spring in my cz and 10lb in my stock 2. Very soft shooting. The sights barely move and no prob doing a bill drill in under 2 seconds. Just as accurate as anything else I've shot. Easily more accurate than I am standing off hand..
  15. Good to know thanks! I lathered everything up with polishing compound, put the factory recoil spring in and racked it about a thousand times. Everything seems to be moving a lot smoother now. I also beveled and polished the mag well while I was at it!
  16. That is exactly it. It seems the barrel is hanging up somewhere. I think it's the slot in the barrel that the slide stop rides in. It has a very sharp edge. I'm gong to polish it and see if it helps.
  17. Thanks for the help. I'm asking because while I'm shooting, sometimes the slide seems to slow down and struggle to go back into battery. I'm trying to figure out if these 2 things are related. magazines are brand new and ammo is all chamber gauged. Im looking for someone to tell me if my firing pin block is maybe not fitted correctly.
  18. The gun has a titan hammer , 1 piece sear, extreme disconnector,pd firing pin and ext firing pin block. I polished everything including the rails. It is extremely smooth 9/10 times but sometimes I can get it to catch just right and the slide won't go all the way forward and I have to push it. When I take the slide off and rib my thumb across the firing pin block it seems like it could be the only thing holding it up. I also polished The fpb and the hole
  19. Thanks! It's a brand new 10 lb recoil spring. If I rack the slide slowly I can get it to hang up 1/4 inch out of battery 1 out of 10 times. Even with the hammer back.
  20. I bought a used stock 2 and it has one. Seems like it's not fitted right because it sometimes catches the slide and the gun doesn't go back in to battery when racking the slide by hand.
  21. What grips are available that are as wide or wider than the stock wood grips? Thanks, Ivan
  22. I'd like to try those fat grips. How much do you want for them?
  23. Thats what I'm saying, you have to load them really short to get them to plunk test in anything. Never have that problem with blue bullets. They have a much better profile.
  24. Tried all of the round nose 9mm. Real hard time to get them to case guage.
