  1. Fwiw I've never had a failure to extract in my ppq and have run around a thousand rounds through it (all factory ammo). I did have it fail to return to battery a couple of times. Both times just a slight bump on the back of the slide locked it up and it ran fine for the rest of the day. Not sure of the cause and haven't had it happen in the last several range trips.
  2. Congrats. Amazing feeling gun with great trigger and excellent accuracy. I have the 5" and really like it. Only complaint is that the muzzle flips up a little more on recoil than my grand power. It does come back quickly and consistently though.
  3. M1 and M2 have the same grip. They both come with multiple backstraps to adjust the grip size. My wife has very small hands and finds the small backstrap works well for her.
  4. Quite similar. K100 feels just slightly heavier. Of course in SA the K100 is mostly staged, then has a few mm of creep, then goes off. The PPQ has a fairly long, very light travel, then hits a wall, then has basically no creep, then goes off very crisply. So comparing a staged PPQ to the SA K100 I'd say the PPQ feels a little lighter and has less creep. But the K100 is still quite good. Both have fast, short reset. Easier to work the reset for me (a novice) on the K100 b/c the trigger as an SA stays staged so to speak. I can shoot tighter, more consistent slow, aimed groups with the PPQ.
  5. This is my choice. Wife loves it as well.
  6. I tried a 4" xds recently and really liked it. I was able to shoot it well (relative to how I usually shoot anyway!) and it is quite slim.
  7. Awesome! How does it shoot? From what I've read its rifling is conventional.
  8. I love my 5" PPQ (it's also pretty tight) and am more accurate with it than any other polymer 9mm I've shot and similar to my results with a CZ75. You sure it wasn't the PPX that was sloppy? The X is a totally different gun, made by a different factory and is 40% of the price of the Q and does tend to have some slop. I find that in general I'm much better with a 5" gun than a 4.5" or shorter slide. Probably something to do with my eyes and sight radius. The glock G34 also shoots pretty nicely.
  9. Yes, the upside down method is what works best because you really want the barrel all the way in and with the flat parts (that of the barrel and that inside the slide) against each others. This is very important, as the rolling pin has to meet the bottom section of the barrel in the proper position. Once you have figured this out, you're golden. It takes me less than 5 seconds to reassemble my X-Calibur. It seems the PPQ also gets a lot of good reviews but I am not really sure I like the preformed grips. As for the K100 grips, there are 4 options delivered with the gun. I am personally stuck with the 3rd fattest because this is what the GP6 used to be delivered with and I am used to that geometry now. For the slippery aspect, refer to Springer Precision's web site as he has specifically designed grip tape available. I personally like to use the 3M tread tape, I cut strips and customize my grips this way. It's very aggressive and cheap. Great buy, you cannot go wrong for $300. Nice thanks, will definitely try that method of putting it back together and will check out those grip options. The PPQ preformed grips fit my hand well. I used the medium (the one it ships with) and felt it was perfect for quite a while. A few weeks ago I put the small on for my wife and found I liked that just fine as well so now that stays on. I have the small on the K100 right now and like it pretty well. I'll try the others too. I have medium sized hands but tend to prefer a small grip. The K100 is certainly amazing for the price! I'd love to try out an X-Calibur sometime, great looking gun!
  10. If you want something like a G34 that's not a glock there are all the other striker fired long slide guns. My favorite is the PPQ 5". Awesome trigger and seems to cycle much faster than a G34. I also am noticeably more accurate with it.
  11. I just got a K100 mk7 from J&G to try out Grand Power and shot it briefly for the first time last night. I'm a novice shooter, but thought it shot well. I noticed that muzzle flip was very minimal. I have no real experience with hammer fired guns so can't really comment usefully on the trigger. In SA it's not dramatically different from my PPQ's trigger once staged--probably just a bit heavier and a bit more creep. I shot very tight groups of 2-3 (holes touching at 10yrds), but couldn't get past 3 without a 3"+ flier. Not sure if it's me or the gun--most likely me (shooting free hand). At the same distance I can put all (15rnd mag) in the center red circle of the small splatter targets with my ppq. The mag drops free, POI and POA are about the same, ran 75rnds through it without a hitch (only had a few minutes between work and a work dinner so time-limited there). Mine is is a recall serial number but had the barrel replaced prior to being sold. Aparently that's what comprises J&G's current inventory. Grip feels hard and slippery. Not disastrously so, but enough that I'll probably do something to make it more grippy. I managed take-down without much struggle but found getting the slide on very awkward. Will try the upside down method suggested here next time.
