  1. It's as smart as leaving a mag on your belt for a stage that has all mags on the table, and thinking "yeah, I'll never grab it". You can, but it'll bite you hard one day. Guarenteed. Besides, the magnet can't be fwd of the hip if you want to stay in production, whether you use it or not.
  2. Fine. Just remember 5.3 5.3.1 The use of camouflage or other similar types of military or police garments other than by competitors who are law enforcement or military personnel is discouraged. The Match Director will be the final authority in respect of what garments must not be worn by competitors. All rules books are here. https://www.ipsc.org/ipsc-rules/rule-books/
  3. Toni Systems mount, just picked it up from the local shop. No probs, shoots well.
  4. IPSC, no. Page 57 for the exemptions, it's magazines, open sights, grip panels, springs, trigger assembly, hammer. https://www.ipsc.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/IPSC-Handgun-Competition-Rules-Apr-2023-Edition-Final-25-Apr-2023.pdf
  5. There's easier ways to shoot slow in rifle.
  6. This. Take your time, it's not a race. Both loading and unloading - make it slow, deliberate, safe.
  7. Like I said... unlucky to have to challenge a call at least once at every major match.
  8. Crickey. You must be very unlucky.
  9. Have shot with dedicated painters and for us, 2 advantages. They were quicker than some of the ... age experienced shooters, who tended to amble and gossip with fellow shooters as they walked downrange, and for the squad... no paint on hands or clothes. Some even did brass pickup which was nice. Is it a must ? Not really, but it was an enjoyable shoot. Bit like supplied cold water and sunscreen at the stage on hot days, it's just a nice thing rather than a must have.
  10. Yeah that's just a bad RO. IROA needs to know about this idiot, even if said idiot is VP. As well as your IPSC Regional Director. When you bump into this guy again, do your walkthroughs as usual, then make a point of having someone prominently pull out a camera and start videoing from the moment you start walking towards the stage. Even the joke loudly of "smile for the camera" lets everyone know it's recorded. While the video isn't admissable for an appeal, it can be used in other ways Some RO's hate being shown they're wrong when the RM overturns a decision. Alpha male syndrome. Also known as a dickhead.
  11. Bah didn't see the photogrphy subgroup at the bottom of the page.
  12. If I had a $1 for every primer tube I've simply thrown out because of a stuck primer..... I'd certainly have more than $1.
  13. Currently running a Panasonic Lumix which has the remarkable ability to get some very high frame rates coupled with a high ISO. But it's getting a bit long in the tooth now and some buttons are failing, and the lens is fixed to the body, so no swopsies. Just wondering who's using what these days to capture 'that' photo during a shoot.
  14. Why someone is planning a competition with a backup gun that's not actually a backup.... is weird. And the actual problem in this story.
  15. Similar stats but just a triple bypass for me. Crickey it hurt ! Getting ripped apart like a piece of KFC chicken and stitched back together... all in all, 12 months till I was 'normal' again. Everyone is different though. And yeah, diet & exercise = staying alive. It's funny how many of us men forget it.
  16. Appendix D relates to magazines on your belt. So technically it's fine to start with a coupled mag in the gun, but having one on your belt could be the point of discussion.
  17. Something to consider.....you may have a problem pulling a coupled mag from a pouch though, as per Appendix D max distance of magazines from the body of 50mm ?
  18. Patch more. And don't always patch the same front targets. Sometimes looking back can help you spot something. Just don't be that guy who carries patches, does a walk through after every shooter and then discovers... "oh all the targets are patched, I missed out on patching". You'd be suprised how often that can happen
  19. Mine is an SP01 and yes, racking off the optic is fine as long as you watch where your hands are going. If your fingers are chubby little nuggets covered in grease... then yeah, nah.
  20. Just make sure you put the right magazine into the gun on LAMR Have seen people try to do similar, get flustered/distracted/screw up and find themselves in the odd position of trying to explain why they had more rounds in their magazine than their division allows.
  21. Have seen a couple of new/distracted shooters who pull their mags out, put them on the barrel... and do the very next natural thing... by pulling their gun out and sticking it on the barrel too. Then the tears begin as the RO looks at them with a puzzled expression on their face. Good habits last a life time. Get into a good habit, only pull out the gear you need to shoot the stage when told to.
  22. Been doing it since 2018 on my PO gun, zero problems.
