Ok.  We're not talking about grease, but lubricant.  Which is oil, like in the above photo.  That's different than the grease the use when they assemble the gun (which I specifically requested they not use on mine).

Did you ever hear of an issue with the grease on their pistols? Reason I ask is because I just recently had to clean mine due to an issue I had recently, and good lord was it nasty in there. It was my first time detail cleaning it. I've only used 3n38 it as well which I'm changing.

Leaded comps?  Shooting bare base jacketed round nose?  I just get crusty powder residue from jhp’s.

This is what I experience frequently after ignoring the comp for a few k. No matter what the powder it seems.

I end up cleaning it with a small bronze brush tool I found at harbor freight and a dash of Hoppes. I may need to use a small metal pick to chip a chunk out or something.

I now spray my comps with case lube before shooting and the lead does not foul the comps nearly as bad. And they are way easier to clean afterwards

I've never tried this but can't wait to now.

During the 3 months, Colt regularly sent me picture and video updates on the different stages of my build and continued to answer any questions I had.

The day I went to pick up my gun he had ammo ready for me to test fire. I also brought some ammo with me that I was able to shoot.

At pickup he went over the gun with me in detail, cleaning and service recommendations, and even offered to show me how to take the grip apart in the future when I need to.

^This. The walk-thru won't be possible for everyone out there but sending regular updates of the build process for something like this goes a long way.

Congrats on the blaster, I bet it's fun as hell to shoot.

Have only been using mine for a couple practice sessions.  I like it so far.  Is 16:9 or 9:16 the best or does it only matter what you want to do with that video?

16:9 is the standard. if you're viewing just on your phone, maybe the other way if you like portrait mode.

You're not using the 360 in practice as a hat cam are ya?

Never had this issue. Do you lube the cases before reloading, if so do you tumble the rounds afterwards to remove any excess ?

Also, what oil are you using  and where are you putting it ?

No lubing afterwards. The oil came with the pistol. It's some blue stuff. I'm going to give Lucas oil a try next match and see how things fair. I was just curious if anyone else here ran into that before.

  6. Anyone on this thread mark their brass and have it affect the oil's viscosity after a few stages? Has it ever caused a FTF/FTE?

I use a thick red sharpie line on my brass for the best visibility in my environment and have found that after a few stages the marker dye is mixing with the oil causing the slide to slow down a bit. A few drops on the rails fixes it, but if I could find a better oil for my situation or a better way to mark brass that still allows it to be highly visible (thick lines vs thin line).

Do they normally call you at some point in the process like say when it goes to coating?

    They didn't for me.

I sent an email asking if the quoted wait times were still accurate and for some pictures of their toolkit they offer cause I'm really curious what that whole package looks like. 10 days after the email was sent I got the phone call asking for final payment and a FFL.

That’s weird. Mine was ordered a month prior to yours and still isn’t done yet. Hopefully they did not rush yours.

Do they do that? I didn't think any of the higher tiered builders rushed anything, especially these guys. Let's hope you're wrong and mine was just a simple build.

That’s what they say but it isn’t accurate. Myself and three other buddies are at various stages of waiting and one is over 12 months now and crickets. You just have to sit back and enjoy the quiet ride. I’m at 6 months so far.

Any idea why it would be that long  over the quoted time? Did he order something extra ornate or something?

Yes.  I was told 7ish months when I ordered it but it took a year.

First, sorry about that RDS thing going on. You have to be pissed waiting that long for those only to hate the one thing you are staring at the most on the guns. I can't remember any of their US shooters running that sight and it seems like such an obscure RDS.

Second though, crap! 12ish months when you were given probably initially given the 6-8 month build window is really disappointing to me. I was given an 8-10 month window late last year and now it sounds like it'll probably be Christmas before I see that one. Maybe yours took longer because you got two at one time?

I’m set right now for precision delta JHP 124gr over 8gr Hs6 at 1.135 coal. It’s money for me and of course case gage. I bought roll sized brass. I load with d1050, lee u die and Redding competition seating die.

You're able to make major with only 8gr of HS-6 with a v6 middy with a KKM? I only ask because I have the same gun, down to the slide cuts, and it takes at least 8.6 with 8.8 to stay 170-175ish which keeps the dot moving straight up and down. It still leaves the glass, but I think that happens no matter what load one uses.

I recently took deliver of an infinity in 8 months time, they are now quoting 10 to 12 months

I was quoted 8-10 months and am seeing if others given the same time frame are coming in closer to the 8 rather the 10. I put it in Sept\Oct. '21

I went the same route as you.  Bought an Akai because it was done and available.  It was a decent gun but would not run in 38 super as promised.  Finally prompted my complete changeover to supercomp 3 weeks before the Nationals (did work then).  On Christian's recommendation ordered an Infinity.  It is just a better built gun, though more expensive.  Sold the Akai and just took delivery on a second Infinity

Mind me asking how long your wait time was for the 2nd Infinity?

So, after calling and discussing a few things with Brandon and the folks at SVI, I placed my order today....

You seemed pretty set on 9 major. What things made you change your mind?

  15. What turned you away from the MP? I tried the samples they send out and found their aggressive not as prickly as my LSI (which is comparable to the EVO aggressive) but grippier than a silicon carbide grip I have. My concern with the grip tape is the eventual upkeep or replacement of it. That just seems like pain.

  16. I've never gotten reliable 9mm brass for free. You guys are lucky. I do get 'after the local is over' brass for free, but only after stage breakdown is finished and only what I can get between all of the other guys picking it up. Then it's sorting it, cleaning all the other crap that got picked up with it (most of the time dirt\rocks inside the cases from being stepped on, separating it from inside the 40 brass that it inevitably gotten lodged into. After all is said and done, I just put in a significant amount of time to pick up brass that is almost certainly not once-fired and almost certainly shot a few times out of another 9 major gun that left it because it's been reloaded a few times.

I rather just pick up my brass that has 2 marker lines on it while in between pasting stages and leave after stage breakdown. Sure I may be short a few pieces, but in my opinion, that's a minor loss compared to what the alternative is.

How about following the very detailed instructions provided with it???? Why do people have to make things hard than it has to be by being lazy?

I bought this one off a FB group, new but missing the instructions. Ltdstr posted screenshots of something I've never seen before.

I've scoured a ton of posts here on the forum as well and notice you're more snippy than most at questions posed. I've read your book and you've been a great help with all the other content you put out and I really appreciate that but man...why do you have to always assume people are being lazy or always have the information right in front of them and are just ignoring it?

Everyone else in the thread, thank you. I'll give that all a try and give it a go again.
