  1. I have compared the spring tension on the G20 to the spring tension of several other weapons including an XDS, XD tactical, M&P40, etc. the Glock had the least tension by quite a noticeable bit. I am thinking this is the problem. I feel it would be to my advantage to speak with CS and ask their direction. certainly the simple thing would be to have them send me the parts and do the install at home. if, however the warranty will need satisfaction I will send it back. I have done several similar things with other pistols so it is not a big hairy deal.
  2. this one has yet to be detail stripped. what ever malady it possesses came from Glock as is. I would assume that since there was only one malfunction early on, and the problems are becoming more frequent, the possibility of a weak spring is most likely.
  3. that is why I changed my hand position yesterday and paid extra attention to make sure shooter error was not an issue. I did not come into contact with the slide stop. that was one of several thoughts I had. being a geezer I generally think it is me first and then other possibilities I appreciate hearing that I am not the only person in the shooting world who has been through this.
  4. sounds like what I was thinking. the slide lock has much less tension than the one on my XDS, XD Tactical, MP40, and any of my SR's. perhaps I will run this by one of Gaston's people Monday/
  5. bought a G20 last fall. had one slide lock open on a mag with ammo in it but wrote it off to a new pistol that needed to break in. this spring/summer it has become more and more consistent. I made sure today there was zero possibility I was bumping the slide lock under recoil, and had one about every other mag. before I call Gaston and whine, is there anything any of you have seen that can help me avoid a trip back for this otherwise good sidearm? I am quite impressed with the 10mm round! it can be a real screamer.
  6. all SR series pistols have a mag disconnect including the compact models. none of my five SR's now have that "safety" feature. it makes the trigger ever so slightly better and if the mag drops I can still get one off. my son in law and my youngest daughter both had an occasional light primer strike until I removed theirs. that is the only feature of these pistols I don't like. I carry the 9c in summer and the 40c in winter.

I find mine to be as accurate and reliable as anything I own. that includes S&W, XD, and Glock. paid a little over 400 for it and consider it a real bargain. great ergonomics and minimal felt recoil.
  8. from the shadow of the Golden Dome, old geezer, about to retire. great kids and love to spoil grandchildren. very strict with them. they will not get supper until they finish their ice cream. taught the basics of firearms safety by a WWI vet (grandfather) and WWII vet (dad) starting in '55. sure miss those gentlemen. reload for pistol, enjoy shooting the most when there is no one else around. taught all my children (5) beginning when I felt they were responsible enough to grasp the importance of zero mistakes. all have become better adults than their dad. very proud of them. newest venture is experimentation with reloading 10mm. heck of a round! load up and the ballistics are very impressive, down for a nice day at the range. teaching grandchildren when they wish to learn and their parents ask. love being a dad and grandpa.
