  1. Buy two of them and alternate. That’s what a lot of PRS people do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I’ve really enjoyed shooting my Tikka T1X. I looked at the RPRR and was disappointed in the cost cutting they did to hit price point. I also find the CZ to be intriguing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Heck, anyone with a Bridgeport manual mill oughta be able to whittle those out for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yes, you can see it under the battery. They carefully explained how to tell the difference between the new and the old... and then I promptly forgot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have the most faith in the new Leupold Delta Point Pro (they updated the printed circuit board that used to cause issues). The Trijicon SRO has a better viewing area. I’ll have a firmer opinion after I abuse it for a while. The Holoson 507c has the option of running a 60 MOA ring. I think this gets me back on target faster. Those three seem have the best reputation on the internet. If I were getting a slide machined for competition, I would probably go with the Trijicon SRO. That footprint will also work for the Trijicon RMR and Holoson 507c. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. For test purposes, I have collected red dot optics from nearly all the major companies. At this point, you couldn’t pay me to use any SIG product. Out of the box, a certain percentage simply don’t point in the right direction. One knowledgeable person that machines a tremendous number of slides will no longer machine slides for SIGs because of the issue. Dealing with SIG customer service has been fruitless to this point. I ended up just going out and buying a second Romeo 1 just to finish my testing since the first shot 6 feet low... after spending several hours on hold with customer service, and a handful of fruitless emails. The ones I got to work seemed to function fine. If you buy one, I would buy in person. I laid them on on a level countertop and then measured that the dot aimed about 1 inch above the counter height at the longest distance you can get in the shop. The bad ones will be obvious. I don’t make it a point to run down products or companies, but I am certainly frustrated and $600 poorer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. There is a tolerance stack relating the amount of rotation and the individual pockets. Been a while since I glanced at it. Basically the pawls give a course amount of adjustment and the the ball detents index it precisely (I use the term loosely). You are probably just shy of enough rotation to get the ball detents to consistently index either on the upstroke or downstroke, or both. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’ll let you know. Too much water (on aluminum parts) slows the tumbling action. I figure as long as the brass stays in constant submersion I should be fine. I’m sure the ratio will evolve over time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I think my order from BBI is finally at my local post office. I got a tag from my mail carrier that it’s too heavy for her to deliver. It took about 6 weeks; all the fault of the USPS. BBI had it shipped in 2 days from order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Just ordered some Brass Juice. Tired of the walnut shell dust. I’m going to run brass in one of my industrial parts tumblers, no pins. Looks like about 2k 9mm and a half a gallon of water is about right. Should make my life easier. No more running 300 at a time in walnut, then sifting and getting covered in dust. Additionally, my walnut media gets sand in it from my range pick up. If I don’t change it frequently, it builds up and starts etching my brass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I enjoyed that show. Talked me into buying another 1911 45 ACP... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I bought an amazing custom hard chrome SP01 AccuShadow 1 with the full Cajun trigger system. Custom milled for the Sig Romeo. Man I wanted to love that gun.... unfortunately, I simply shoot my S2 carry optic gun better. I think once I get motivated, I’ll sell it and just buy another S2 and top it with an SRO. Keep one for backup and dry fire, and compete with the other. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I just had this discussion with a friend. I pushed him towards CFE Pistol. Works in just about any pistol, reasonable price, and readily available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I get a different point of impact supported than I do standing and shooting at USPSA speed... not a lot, but enough that I zero the same way I compete. Zero at 20 yards. I also like to hang a piece of steel and then walk back in 5 yard increments just to see where it hits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. For me, muscle memory index on the gun is absolutely critical for carry optics. I don’t like switching between my S2 CO, original Shadow CO, and G17 MOS. I always reserve a couple dry fire sessions before I switch. I would get identical S2s if that’s the platform you prefer.
  16. Nearly 100% of the backcountry bow hunters up here in grizzly country pack a Glock 10mm... I can’t even recall the last big wheel gun I saw. I carry a 1911 10mm because I prefer a less reliable platform that weighs more and has a lower capacity:) As far as the PCC, I can’t think of any rational reason to have one... but if I see a good deal, I’ll come up with one.
  17. I think it is a variety of reasons... lower capital barrier to entry, therefore many distributed smaller companies. Smaller companies don’t a) shut down the entire facility when the lunch lady sneezes don’t have large box store and government contracts that way up production volume before it gets to consumer sales c) have much less complicated supply chains that are subject to disruption. 18. Had an order from BBI sitting in some USPS facility in Tennessee for a couple weeks now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I use my Shadow2 with a slide mounted dot for 3Gun open. Pretty easy to add extended base pads to increase capacity to 20+ rounds. I usually dry fire for a couple days to refresh started cocked with the safety on vs DA. I’ve resisted going SAO in case I forget or need to hammer a high primer FTF. I haven’t added a comp. I think there are still advantages to a 2011 open gun, but not enough for me to justify the switch (yet). I’m also working on a slide mounted optic open Glock. Going to use a 17 slide with a comp, magwells and +3 base pads... then setup a 34 identically minus the magwells for USPSA carry optics. Should be similar enough to switch back and forth. 20. At the end of the day, for most of us this is a recreational pursuit. For the USPSA, it’s a business pursuit. The number one thing that should matter to them is if the decisions create new incremental sales... ie more people in a division without cannibalism of other divisions. Sure, “the good of the sport” and “competitive equity” and a zillion other things come into play; but the bottom line always has to be fore front. I’m sure they are smart enough to see that carry optics is a huge success. Hopefully they are smart enough to realize that the consumers want high capacity magazines. They want 9mm for a host of reasons. They want guns that are readily available and with striking distance financially. They also want guns that are practical (but still competitive); after all, no matter how we label it, Practical shooting is a martial pursuit. They also want to feel successful; not just in their division, but in their overall standing. Using those criteria, it’s pretty easy to see why certain divisions are shrinking, and why divisions like CO and PCC are growing. Revolver and Single Stack become less applicable every year and the numbers reflect that. Limited 10 and Production will never be popular because the magazine capacity. Limited is hampered by needing to buy an obsolete cartridge system (40S&W) on and obscure platform (2011) in order to be competitive (over simplified and over stated). Open is a wildcard. Expensive guns, obscure calibers, specialized equipment... but genuine competitive advantages. Additionally, I think it will grow because of carry optics... it’s the natural progression as CO introduces the masses to the dot, then shows them the limitations associated with slide mounted optics and unmitigated recoil. These are just my observations pretty much as an outsider. It is my opinion that it would be an incredibly different landscape if USPSA abandoned “power factor” scoring. Instantly, Limited and Open would be approachable and significantly more popular. CO and Prod would be stepping stones to those venues, instead of temporary detours. 21. On the flip side, I wonder how the surge in CO is going to impact 3gun numbers. Right now it pushes people over to open division... with a completely different equipment lineup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Don’t be an idiot like me. Let your wife shoot whatever gun she wants, even if it’s completely wrong and embarrassing. Over time, she’ll meet other female shooters and try other guns, then tell you she wants a gun that’s 3x more than you can afford. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. What do you want it for? I carry a 1911 10mm during archery hunts in grizzly/ wolf country. I don’t love it compared to all my cz75 based pistols, but I don’t hate it enough to switch. If I had it to do over, I would probably go with the Witness Polymer Full Size... 13 round magazine, reasonably impervious to weather, and inexpensive enough to not mind the inevitable bumps and dings associated with elk hunting. 24. I gotta agree, vibra prime works great with cci primers. Best $60 I spent this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I’m a little curious what would happen to participation and scores if the slide mounted optic was optional rather than mandatory... I know, the name would be even stupider. At times it feels like the dot is a deterrent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
