Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hi-Viz fiber Optic front sight Ameriglo standard black target rear (.150" rear notch) Glock extended slide release (easier to reach with my thumb on a wide frame Glock) Lone Wolf Barrel (to shoot cast bullets) Ghost 3.5 Tactical Connector 25 cent trigger job I have experimented with a Wolff steel guide rod, but I cannot see any advantage over the standard Glock unit. For 165 PF ammo, I like the feel of stock Glock better. I personally don't see the need for a magwell on a Glock in IDPA.
  2. It really depends on the distance and difficulty on the shot after the reload, but if you can average below 2 seconds for a slide lock reload during the course of a match, you are doing very well.
  3. I have used a G19 in IDPA before and never felt it was a handicap, but the other posters are right, a G26/27 can hurt you on a reload. IDPA is shot from short enough distances that the sight radius wouldn't matter much.

    Glock 21

You can get 17 rounds in a G21 magazine with Arredondo basepads, and it is reloadable.
  5. The logic is that the operation and reloading of a revolver is far different than between auto pistols, even Glock to 1911. There are many shooters that simply have no experience with them, at least in competition.
  6. IDPA BADLY needs to require shooters compete in their highest level of classification, with possibly an exemption for revolver. That would stop Master Class SSP shooters from competing in ESP Sharpshooter.
  7. Well, then. I the BATF says it, then it must be so. A government agency could never be wrong.
  8. Joe, I seems that the charge is that a high round count match is not a "quality" match. To make that argument, one has to equate quality with realism. In a "realistic" scenario, one would never fire 18 rounds. So the conclusion is that some of us are just "gamers" who are tainting the purity of IDPA with our unrealistic COF's.
  9. CZ 85 Combat. Replace the stock hammer spring with a 15# or 16#. Very nice DA pull. All steel frame really dampens recoil.
  10. I have shot a Wilson Combat Classic for almost 2 years. It has a Dawson fiber optic sight, but is otherwise stock. It has been rock solid reliable and very accurate.
  11. Yes, I am running the stock guide rod. The Wolff recoil spring is noticably longer. I even installed the extra power extractor spring, but that did not cure the problem.
  12. My 85 Combat has about 2500 rounds through it. I ordered a couple of spare Wolff recoil springs, part# 43014 as replacements. After replacement, I started to get FTE's where half the case would still be in the chamber & the slide is held open by the top round in the magazine jammed under it. I also get the occasional premature slide lock with rounds still in the magazine. I have tried Geko 124gr, WWB 115gr, Blazer brass 115gr, and 5 different magazines. I put the original CZ recoil spring back in and everything works fine. It tried clipping up to 3 coils from the Wolff spring but that does not help. What should I do? Use only CZ springs? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. I have been using a CZ 85 Combat 9mm for about 2 months. Magazines drop free & comes with adjustable rear sight & no firing pin safety. My mods: Wolff 15# hammer spring - dropped SA trigger pull to 4lbs and DA pull to just under 8 CZ fiber optic front sight Wolff extra power extractor spring CZ checkered walnut grips The pistol is absolutely reliable and very accurate. Steel frame absorbs recoil well, frame fits my hand, and shot recovery is very fast.
  14. The way the rule actually reads (and the intent) is that whether you use mag pouches or your pocket, you can only have two spare magazines. If for any reason you have 2 mag pouches, you cannot reload from your top-off magazine in your pocket. If your place your reload magazines in your front-left pants pocket for example, simply use another pocket (back or vest pocket) for your top-off mag and never use it for a reload. Bottom line: Always reload from the same place and never go to your top-off magazine. No SO should even bring this up in a match.
