  1. Looks that way to me too Bob, also looks like the area where the disconector rides may be dished out. Is it? and what dose the back of your diconector look like? Check the overtravel, check the grove where the trigger rides and check the rear of the trigger bow.
  2. Flex you need serious mental help and fast.
  3. SS slide? Hope you are talking about blueing the sight. If its some cheap cold blue throw it out, might as well use a black marker. If I have to use cold blue I use Brownells OXPHO (sp) paste, liquid works well also but past stays where you put it. As Alamo said degrease, degrease, degrease and remember most cold blues require several applications.
  4. Dave check with Bill Wilson heard somewhere he had some old sear jigs he was getting rid of. Probably bull but who knows. PM me I would like to know if your 5 year run make is the same as my 2 personal 5 + yr triggers. CS, look for an old microscope, got one about 15 yrs ago for 5 bucks, mounted a shop made hammer sear block to it and moved the light, works great, it has 10, 25 & 40X
  5. I have a Power Custom. Not sure if I would buy another not that its not good, its great but most of the custom hammers I have been using are already cut with proper angles and only require some light fine stoning if any. I do use it on jobs where the customer dosent want to upgrade or if its a rebuild of a custom trigger job. Have not used the Yavpai fixture.
  6. Ive had one in my shop for a trigger job and mag well instilation, while I didnt speck all the parts everything looks interchangable. While some part looked to be made on the cheap side I was able to get a 4.5 lb trigger with no problem or parts changing. If it was mine I would have replaced most of the springs and internals but I like TI and SS guts. Blue 45APC.
  7. If it smells like amonia when you open it Do not throw it away as you have powder that has achieved an explosive state. This is very rare and usualy indicates the powder has been heated and cooled many times or been exposed to high temp for a long time. The easiest way to get rid of it would be to add cold water and pour it down the drain. Be sure to let the water run for 15 min. minimum if you do this.

Adversity only makes you stronger and wiser. BTDT as well, trust me it gets better.
  9. I feel sorry for his parents but this is what the anti-gun people have done to our military. In basic there were 2 of us (out of 40) who knew gun and how to shoot, thats it. I shot a perfect score 1st time through, the other guy missed 1. The instructors didnt think we were capable of that and made both of us shoot for score a 2nd time. Both of us ran a perfect score. We set for 8 hours while people shot and shot and shot trying to qualify. I even had to teach a dril instructor how to disasimble the trigger group on the M16 When I got through the Q and assigned to a SF team the first thing I noticed was that these guys knew how to handle weapons safely and shoot effectively. From what I saw of regular Army and forgein militay units I felt very thankful to be with my team.
  10. What make of 1911 Springfield?
  11. short answer on recoil springs. The recoil spring should be balanced so the slide dose not hit the frame and dose not drop the muzzel when the slide goes forward. Load and gun combined determine best spring wt. I have installed recoil springs from 7 to 20 pounds on peoples 1911s. Most want a spring that will work across a wide range of loads, in your case for the 9mm I would run something in the 12 to 14 pound range, 12 with 1 shock buff, 14 with nothing. Mainspring 15 or 17, either will work on most guns and loads, you can get a crisp 2 pound pull with either one. I think most people run 17 for the extra ignition insurance. +1 on the Wolf calibration pack.
  12. Send it to me, I will shoot it for you, send you photos of it and emails telling you of it adventures here in Gods country Kentucky. You can even have visitation rights with out paying support. PS: That really bites, Dont forget, vote pro gun early and often.
  13. What is medium short? I have seen BDU shorts. Just do a serch, BDU shorts and you should come up with a number of sites. Levis is making cargo shorts in several colors. They are not ripstop but they are light wt. material. Length on the pair I have is just above the knee.
  14. Good bullet but too smokey for me even with clays at 830fps.
  15. Check the sear and the sear spring, you might not have enough tension on the sear. While your at it check the hammer sear engagment.
  16. Start small finsh big. Buy a good single stack or Glock and move up if you enjoy the sport and decide to stay with it. A good Gunsmith can produce a product that is far better than anything you can buy. That being said STI Edge is a great gun right off the shelf. Needs a magwell but thats about it, and dont overlook buying used.
  17. I have just started using TG (9mm & 40 S&W) also. Just keep checking your chrono results. So far I have run TG across the screens from 70 to 95 and it is staying fairly consistant. I plan on checking rounds from thie same batch through the winter. I will post results next spring.
  18. Here's a start for ya. Mr Steel Glock 19 Tight Group 4.6 115 FMJ 1.09 OVL 75 Deg. 1148 FPS 132.0 PF TG 4.5 Same other 1140 FPS 131.1 PF TG 4.4 As above 1119 FPS 128.6 PF
  19. What is everyones thinking on the better of the 2?
  20. Taurus says they should have the 40, 38super and 9mm as well as the comander length avalable by Christmas. In Blue and SS. Frames, slides and barels are being made at there factory. They also said most of the parts are being made in house and they expect to be manufacturing all parts in house by fall. They also said every pistol is hand fit, not how much or what (frame slide, brl. ect.) but the ones I have seen are very tight and well made. When the 40 SS comes out I will be picking one up. The MSRP will definately shake up the US makers.
  21. After a 3 year layoff I have decided to dust off the old 550 and start reloading once more. But I need to update my powder knowlage. I currently have about 10 pounds of Win Super Light, 10 pounds Win Super Target and 4 pounds of Clays ( dont worry all powder was stored properly). I worked up (down) some 40 and 9 loads using my old Win SL data as a starting point and I noticed it seemed to be much dirtier after backing down from a 180 to 168 PF. I havent worked up (down) any loads with the WST or the Clays yet but I suspect the WST will be just about as dirty. Not sure about the Clays. The test loads in 40 were with a 200 FMJ slug, Rem primers and the OVL was about 1.235. So what I am looking for help with is 1. A good powder that can be used in 9, 38/357, 40 & 45 2. A good load (or starting point) for 40, using said powder with a 180 FMJ or JHP. OVL that will work in my Glock 35 as well as my STI Edge. 3. Any thoughts on a clean load for the Win SL. 4. A load for the Clays, 40 & 9. PS: I have been shooting Federal and CCI ammo for the last 3 years. Thanks
  22. What is your sight worth? I use balistic impact rated safety glasses and would advise those wearing perscription glasses to invest in a pair of Safety Glasses. Cheap insurance for continued sight.
