  1. Alright, I shot it at a match. I have mostly good things to report. Reliability was good - only one failure to feed, and my squadmates felt that it was bad (reloaded) ammo upon inspection. Recoil reduction was stellar, IMHO - I was able to run the gun very hard in terms of moving and shooting, and I was able to keep to A/C hits without a lot of drama. Where I kinda got bit was on unloaded starts (there were 2). The LevAR is great for loaded starts, but slow and awkward for unloaded starts. I honestly think I would have been better off with a Radian Raptor CH and just pulling through as hard as I could. It's just not THAT hard to pull through on if you're really going for it. Basically, I think in a situation like Falling Steel at AGC, where you're generally assured of having a loaded gun in your hands, the MD RDB is pretty sweet. If unloaded starts are a thing, it hurts a bit.
  2. I finally had a chance to take mine out for a spin, and I was really quite impressed. About a hundred rounds of ammo, no failures, and a noticeable recoil reduction. There was still a bit of dot bounce, but I found super-fast doubles to be pretty easy at 15yds on an 8" target, with very minimal side-to-side dispersion (which is really the bigger problem for action shooting). The use of the LevAR made it reasonably easy to open the gun up for administrative loading/unloading. Some of the ammo I used was from my "suspiciously overcrimped" pile and it ran very well despite what I assume are higher pressures. There was no early unlocking like I experienced with the magnetic TACCOM buffer. Verdict's still out on reliability, but at least for 124gr 9mm backed by 4.0gr Titegroup, it runs great so far. I would certainly recommend it based on my current experiences.
  3. My Maxim Defense RDB came on Friday last week, but I haven't had a chance to take it out for a spin yet yet. I didn't find it super hard to rack out with a BCM Gunfighter CH, and switching to a Springfield Armory LevAR made it pretty easy (when used in leverage mode). I like how it lightens up the gun.
  4. For what it's worth, I called MOA a couple weeks ago, and Tom actually picked up. He's doing much better, and is back in the shop. They are working on getting their inventory sorted out, but the lightning lifters WILL be back. They have a whole bunch of them, and just need final fitting.
  5. Still waiting for it to ship. There is a fairly long thread about it in ARFCOM if you're looking for other reading material on the subject. Funny to see dudes using the LevAR charging handle with it to overcome the initial roller resistance, but if it works, it works.
  6. Apparently these got released for purchase a couple weeks ago, and have begun shipping: https://maximdefense.com/product/244978/ I ordered one for a legacy QC10-style AR-9 (currently using a TACCOM 3-Stage), which is an old favorite of mine. Hasn't shipped yet. I am intrigued because it seems like a more drop-in solution than Scheel's. OTOH, unclear if it has the same configurability, or if it's short stroke out of the box. I expect probable early-adopter shenanigans, but this isn't my primary PCC anyways (I use a pair of MPXs for matches).
  7. That's a screwed-up barrel, and it should have been sent back to Sig. I have a couple of X5 barrels on order from KKM, so I don't really need to be convinced.
  8. The instances I've experienced have not been firing out of battery; it's the case head failing because it's not being properly supported. Glock 40s used to do this quite a bit back in the day for exactly the same reason. I'm not saying I love it when it happens (I've started carrying spare extractors with me, lol), but it what it is. My understanding is that the KKMs are fully supported, so that's the solution if it worries you too much.
  9. The AC trigger is really a must-have for this gun. It's not quite a 22/45 with the VQ mods, but you can shoot stupid fast with it.
  10. Just shot my 322 at an outlaw steel match... dominated RPO and beat the centerfire pistols. Weather was below freezing the entire time, the gun was cold (but lubed), and it ran great. I don't recall any failures except maybe a stove pipe at the end of a mag (and that was when I was done shooting anyways). Ammo was garbage Fed Automatch. I did give it a reasonably good cleaning before I took it out, but it wasn't THAT deep. Being able to stuff 22-24 in a mag is a game changer when RPI/RPO doesn't have mag limits. I was able to shoot most of the stages without a reload, and the couple reloads I had to do were quick and easy. I'm not saying the P322 is perfect, but at least mine is getting the job done quite nicely. If Sig ever releases a high-cap 22 rifle as good as the P322, I could be perusaded to give it a try...
  11. I had this problem initially when making the switch from X5Ls to 2011s, but it seems like the problem has mostly resolved itself. Last time I used a Limited Optics-style 2011 at a match, it may as well have been a laser beam. I'd love to write off the accuracy of the X5L as "good enough", but the reality is that if you've got to deliver on tight shots, it's not helping you. This sucks, because I absolutely love everything else about the gun.
  12. TBH, this was when I knew I had a problem. Took out my 2011, blew out the head box. Realized I could shoot perfectly fine. I have a couple KKM barrels on order, so we'll see if that fixes the problem. Or at least helps it a bit.
  13. You mean like how the CDP rules say I can run bull barrels at 4.25 and below, but there's no rule banning bull barrels in the first place? lol
  14. Scholastic Action Shooting Program's 2023 rulebook added centerfire and rimfire revolver divisions, and optics are OK in both. Might be time to hunt down a 617!
  15. Cody wrote in an email that "barrel comps are not allowed". And then he told someone the XC is OK. So, basically, I don't f*#king know anymore, except for certain remarks about the situation in general. I'm bringing my perma-pressed carry comp 2011 to the next match.
  16. There wasn't much. There was some sort of clarification on reloads that I'm still mulling over, but I don't think it had big practical impacts and was more of a clarification.
  17. I didn't think it did anything significant on my P365 Macro. I guess there's the possibility it will be more effective on the P320 AXG Legion Comp, but color me skeptical. Ports, on the other hand, worked great. I suspect we will be seeing more ported guns in the near future amongst people who take IDPA seriously, whomever they are. The real moral of this story is that IDPA needs to devolve responsibility for rules questions from ACs to some sort of IDPA NROI. The rules changes this time around partially stemmed from ACs getting it wrong or, more charitably, not being on the same page. There is also the problem that IDPA does not write rules like it is a sport, which is not helpful. Without an IDPA NROI equivalent, it does not seem like the core problem has been fixed.
  18. The AC here has ruled that barrel comps are flatly not allowed. I am not sure I agree with this ruling (it's not what the rules actually say), but that's a data point for everyone involved. Guess I'll run my P320 X5L with a ported barrel.
  19. I took my P322 back out and ran a few hundred rounds of CCI SV and Fed Automatch through it. No gun failures, but did have a round of CCI SV that had a priming issue and wouldn't go off after a couple trips through the gun. I did put some Slip 2000 on the rails this time, and loaded the mags myself. Very disappointed that Sig didn't release an X5 or Legion version at SHOT. This gun, but heavier with a thicker grip, would be my hands-down choice for any rimfire action sport that could gain advantage from a larger-cap mag.
  20. New trigger spring didn't solve it, unfortunately. I called Robert again this morning and, at his request, will be shipping the gun to him for review and possible repair. I am certain this is probably a problem from my installation somehow and not TSA's fine parts, but damned if I can figure it out. ETA: to be clear, I am documenting all of this not because I'm unhappy, but because it may help someone else in the future. The other P320 X5L with the TSA kit performed perfectly fine at a recent match (even if I didn't quite hold up my end of the bargain). Once you start installing stuff in your gun, all bets are off, no matter what it is.
  21. It has already been used to tell me I couldn't run NV at the low-light match... so it's real.
  22. My personal experience is that ports and comps can help substantially even with minor PF ammo. My spare P320 X5 Legion barrel is ported, and I can tell the difference easily, it shoots much flatter.
  23. It's literally a carry comp that cannot be removed. What else is that but "integral" and "suitable for all day carry"? Also, if ACs start being heavy-handed with the "suitable for everyday carry" rule to subjectively ban whatever offends them that day, there is going to be some serious blowback if it happens at a major. Heck, even doing it at the wrong club match could lead to substantial drama.
