  1. For those who think power is not measured on steel, remember this: A Major power load will take steel down more reliably than a minor power load, to include the ability to knock poppers down with a lower hit - especially on properly set and cailbrated poppers.
  2. I've know Bob for a long time. He will be missed. Sorrow and condolences to Marsha. RIP Bob.
  3. If the gun were to go bang through the prop I would likely support a DQ for an AD ... Otherwise, I'd have troubles justifying the call.
  4. Which does not, necessarily, mandate a per shot penalty. The definition of Significant Advantage does include “Having both feet outside of a shooting area and firing shots (10.2.1.2)” However, please note this specifically refers to 10.2.1.2. What has been described in the OP does not qualify under 10.2.1.2. The best fit for what was described has been addressed in an official NROI posting some months ago. As I previously stated, this is best addressed by the posting here: Significant Advantage. Pay specific attention to the last example given near the end of the article.
  5. I might note that the Rest of the World (RTW) tends to look at USPSA Production and all we allow to be modified then wonder just how we can still call it "Production" with a straight face. It all depends on which side of the proverbial fence one stands and in which direction one is looking ...
  6. Two best recommendations I can possibly think of!
  7. Uhhh ... Negative ghost rider. Suggest you read (reread?) the following NROI discussion on this very topic. Pay attention to the example given towards the end. Significant Advantage (nroi.org) Cheers
  8. Why not 5 feet? ... or 10 feet? or 7.2 inches? 6 feet was the chosen amount. We needed to establish SOME specified distance to write the rule ... 6 feet seemed close enough to be reasonable but not so far away as to be a problem. It's a standard. Apply it as best you can. I suppose if we had specified 7 feet you'd argue for 8, or 4. No DUH about it ...
  9. OK ... If you think that stinks so badly, YOU write a better, more precisely worded rule. Do try to keep it under 500 words! And I would not recommend requiring the use of a micrometer ... Sorry, but this was the best standard we could come up with. I've never seen anyone busting someone's chops with a tape measure over this issue. If they're 15 feet away, it's kind of obvious. I've never seen anyone question 6' 1.5".
  10. I really think you're over-reading the rule ... However - I will be working closley with the VP of IROA and several folks somewhat more versed in the various IPSC "rifle rules books" (R, PCC, MR) than I am for several weeks in September. I'll pose these questions to them and get back to you in October. In the meantime ... - There is nothing in the MR rules that should prohibit the use of magazines coupled together. - Similarly, there is nothing I can find that would prohibit starting with such a pair (trio?) of magazines in the gun at the start signal. - Measurement (50mm) as you describe is taken from the inside of the magazine to the shooter's torso ... not from the outside of the second magazine affixed to the first ... unless I'm missing something. - I would opine that a WSB stating you could not do this might run afoul of 8.1.4. Good luck, good shooting ... I will get back to this AFTER the PanAm HG Championships.
  11. Given the course design requirements (round counts) in Chapter 1, and the 3/2/1 stage mix requirements, there should be no real reason (save some malfunction with his equipment) for a shooter to actually need to go to his belt for a reload given a properly configured magazine coupling in this discipline. But it is always a good idea to carry a spare or two!
  12. As originally written, the terms cart, conveyence, wagon, etc. all mean the same thing. There are just too d*** many variations to name and/or define them all. (I wrote this particular rule originally when we drafted the MG rules, so, yes, I know what we intended.) You need to pay attention to 5.2.1.6 for transporting the PCC on a cart, conveyence, whatever ... 5.2.1.7 governs taking the PCC off or putting it on the cart, conveyence, etc.
  13. Perhaps more to the point ... Do it. If the RO/CRO/RM objects, request they show you WHERE in the rules it is prohibited. As an IROA RM myself, I would not stop you from doing it unless someone higher up my food chain could show me why I was wrong.
  14. Sorry ... Thought I answered that. I can find no rule for Mini Rifle that would prevent that.
  15. Absolutely! Just remember ... If the equipment check is in the middle of the match, and you have already been using a too long mag, you may be screwed. Get it done before your first rounds go down range.
  16. Under IPSC PCC rules you CANNOT couple magazines together ... HOWEVER - Mini Rifle IS NOT PCC! There is no proscription in the Mini Rifle Rules which would prevent this! Please note the maximum rounds loaded for mini rifle is 30 (+1 in the chamber.) While two magazines coupled together have generally been deemed two separate magazines, mags such as the Ruger BX-25x2 10/22 .22LR 50-Round Factory Magazine have generally been ruled as ONE magazine ... A subtile difference, I know. But the practical effect is that while you can fully load two 25-round mags and fasten them together and still be legal, the factory made single mag that does the same thing (but is one piece) means you could only load a total of 30 rounds between the two ends. I know ... dumb as dirt. But that's the best information I've ever been able to get out of IPSC and IROA on the subject. This will be a bigger question with the 1st IPSC Mini Rifle WS coming up in 2023. I will try to get better clarification on the subject, but at the moment I have other fish to fry. I'll get back on this one sometime after the Pan American HG Championship.
  17. My tear and surgical repair was rather serious. I was off virtually EVERYTHING for about 3 months. (It was discovered during a rotator cuff repair.) The combination made it difficult to eat with my right hand! It took another 3 months or so before I could use my right arm effectively. But as I said, mine was a rather serious tear. Have your wife follow medical advice and definitely GO to PT!
  18. Torn bicep ... Been there, done that. Don't mess around! Follow her doctor's advice and physical therapy. Mine was tron half-way through. Had I ignored medical advice and it had torn the rest of the way then repair efforts and recovery time would have grown exponentially!
  19. @cbabes As I read your post, your question pertains to IPSC rules as opposed to USPSA ... My answer would be: IPSC APPENDIX D4a: Production Optics Division, line 18.3 should govern here. Further, assuming you're shooting in PO and not PO Light (App D4b) then I see no restriction on overall weight either. If you intend to shoot POL then keep in mind the overall weight limitation of 1 KG per rule 20 of App D4b. You're likely to blow the weight limit here with what you propose if you're shooting POL, IMO. Good luck with your NROI ... IPSC and IROA seem loathe to answer such questions, though they should.
  20. I'm waiting for a Centenarian category ... It'll give me something to shoot for. (Pun intended!)
  21. Thank you! Sadly, though, I'm already somewhat out of warranty ...
  22. English, please ... For the unfortunate majority of us who lack Druid ancestry.
