Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Was this a one time thing or has it stayed that way? I would start by breaking the weapon down completely. Sounds like the sear spring or even the sear or disconnector may have an issue. The sear spring presses the trigger forward and pushes the disconnector up which resets the sear.
  2. Caspian = Ruger Not sure who makes Fusion frames, but I have one that has been great, I would recommend them.
  3. My one and only full custom build was by Lou at Business End Customs. I am extremely happy with it, he was great to work with and kept me informed the entire time. I sent the Delta to him in January and was told it would be complete in October, well it came in 2 months early, which was awesome!! Porn: This thing is a shooter, absolutely love everything about it.
  4. This is an interesting idea and makes perfect sense to be able to track practice sessions and match results, so why not give it a try. My backstory, I am completely green in terms of competitive shooting and was introduced to shooting steel targets by a friend only 2 months ago and then Steel Challenge Matches last month. I have only shot in one match at this point, had a great time, I was amazed at the difference in my mental state when going from static shooting to shooting in a timed match, I did not expect that. Another thing is I have never really concentrated on shooting fast, I am fairly accurate but have always just shot for fun so the speed shooting is foreign to me. Currently I am shooting my EDC gun, a 4.25" Ruger 1911 .45. I will be starting reloading soon, hoping that some custom loads will be a bit more manageable than the factory loads I am currently shooting. My first steel match was on 12/14/14, total time was 213.16. I was not totally disappointed with this, I shot pretty well, I had one magazine that I failed to seat and I had a great recovery from that. On 1/3/15 I attended a class aimed at newer competitive shooters, it was very informative and I took away several things to improve on, foremost being grip and trigger control. I have been doing a lot of dry fire practice and got a new grip strengthener. Went to the range for some practice today. Had a good session and was able to put my dryfire practice feedback to the test. Still need to focus on making my new grip a muscle memory, right now I have to make a conscious effort to maintain the grip which means I shoot slower. There is a match tomorrow night (depending on weather), looking forward to it. Any and all advice some seasoned shooters can provide is appreciated, thanks!
  5. That is one downfall, it won't be so hard when it is light during the matches but the night matches will make it difficult for sure. I will have plenty of time to stockpile some ammo, the build will take about 10 months!
  6. Right now I am using my carry weapon, a commander length Ruger 1911 in .45. I recently picked up a Colt Delta Elite in 10 mm that will be sent out later this week to have a custom build done. Tossing around the idea of fitting a .40 barrel but for the cost of fitting a barrel I can get into reloading. At that point the fact that the 10mm is a beast won't really matter, I can load the rounds to meet PF and make it a real unique match weapon.
  7. Hey guys, Been reading a ton on this forum and finally decided to join up. I am completely new to competitive shooting, I have been to 1 Steel Challenge match, which was a blast. I totally bombed it but man did I have fun doing it! Took a class yesterday aimed at entry level shooters and took away 1/2 dozen thing to really concentrate on, needless to say I can only get better. Cheers, Dave
