    I would go straight to a 9mm. I have found 1911 conversions to have a problem with the mainspring weight for 22s. Plus 22s in general can be fenicky.

    I love the idea of electronic ear muffs. But in the end, they're too hot for me. Plus with molded plugs, I can block out all the jackles in the background.

    Years ago I had a similar issue. I got over this by going first in a little local IDPA match week after week until I got over the jitters.

    I think all of the replies about slowing down are spot on. Safety first, but take it slow until you get the hang of it. There's no $1M prize at stake.

    I use over the counter sleep aid or melatonin. Even then, I have no problem getting up.
