  1. That accuracy result is not acceptable to us in any form and were here to help. Please send me an email so we can help troubleshoot. Often, the issue is not the barrel, but if it is, we'll make it right. Nathan@faxonfirearms.com
  2. The original GUNNER series was designed for a low-profile block. The latest batches (shipped to various dealers) has a 1.9" gas block journal to accommodate .625" FSBs.
  3. I have a Seekins on the 16" one my grand daughter shot and it seems to keep the concussion away from her. She went with me to a 3-gun match Saturday to watch and I had her shoot a few of the stages partially with her pistol and my rifle to get her started. She shot 8 rifle targets with hard cover, head shots, and no shoots with no problems. All of the shots were A zone. No flinching. The other LW rifle I built for her has a Faxon pencil barrel with a Taccom triangular comp on it and it directs more of the blast back towards the shooter. She does not like that one as well and I will probably change it. Try to find a .625 OD comp that will work. gerritm We have found the JBillet comp to be very effective in this regard.
  4. Pics, please! Just an AR Vortex prism 1x, Faxon, TacCom... we'll see how it works out. Most of the matches here are 100 yards and in - and (shhhh....) it's mostly for the wife since she doesn't care for the weight of the 20" HBAR contour I've been running. I 'might' have to get it painted all pretty 'n stuff. Thanks!
  5. I am flattered beyond measure. I just hope I can keep this up as the company grows! Great suggestion! -Nathan
  6. It sounds like to us that its an issue with the interface of the barrel to receiver to extension. There are a couple things that may be the issue. What I can comment on is our extensions. We test each one using hardened steel gauges to ensure perpendicularity on the front and rear of the flange. Only barrels that pass are allowed to make it to the field. While this does not absolve us, my reasonable assumption is the issue is outside the barrel. 1. We understand that the upper previously had another barrel installed on it. The receiver and barrels (especially if there was high round rounds) can "mate" to one another through repeated compression (especially on the aluminum side). We would encourage you to look at the receiver and place on a very flat surface. See if it is anything but perfectly straight up and down or if there are light gaps. That would indicate an out of spec upper. *On a side note, I am inclined to lean towards this as when you increased compression on the barrel, it tightened up. 2. Likewise, the barrel nut can also have the same issue but it is very difficult to test. Considering its material (either steel or titanium), it is unlikely it is an issue if your previously barrel worked well. Now, if the issue does turn out to be the barrel, I will gladly replace it.
  7. We would rephrase. "How little do they open up?" Very little. I shoot "hoser stages" and am on with red-dots at 400 meters with first shots.
  8. Working on it! I am an avid shooter in OH and IN. Always pushing competition oriented products!
  9. I have 2 16" 416R versions and couldn't be happier. Great customer service too. We're honored to hear the compliment. Our "light" barrels are finally nearing assembly. Available in 14.5", 18" and 20" to start. Gov't profile behind the gas block, .625" gas block, and pencil profile from there forward. I personally cant wait for them to be done along with our 18" FLAME barrels. Been shooting our 16" so far this season and have been looking for the extra velocity.
  10. ISO:9008 Certified, AS:9100 pending, TS Certified. He're our guarantee: if you have an issue, we fix it or make it right. Its that simple. Forgot to add our "light" barrels are nearing final assembly. Its gov't behind the gas block, .625" gas block, and pencil from there forward. I estimate about 1.75 lbs with our normal accuracy.

  12. Thanks for thinking of us, guys! We have the 14.5" pencil coming out shortly. Working to keep it under a point. ETA 2-3 weeks.
  13. We have a 14.5" pencil coming shortly. ETA 2-3 weeks. Trying to keep them under a pound.
  14. Thanks for choosing us! Look forward to a range report.
  15. Thank you for the recommendation! We choose 1/8 twist and have found it ideal for the mentioned applications. Robar Arms has been posting targets with their firearms. We think you will like the results. Here's our guarantee: You don't like it, we fix it or make it right.
  16. We can assure you it is not the barrel. We pulled the certs from the recent batches of pencils and the steel was appropriately treated and stress-relieved.
  17. That's exactly the performance we would expect for accuracy. The Independence is not surprising either. I had issues with a spattering of the ammo in an ARAK awhile back. It decided to crop up during a 3-gun championship match. Never trusting it again...
  18. TACCOM's gas key and ULW kit is fantastic. Don't hesitate to include them in your build!
  19. That is what I was thinking it might be too heavy. Need light and small. I have a Nordic Tact comp on another lightweight rifle, but it is not a pencil barrel. But it may work. I will contact Tim. Thanks. gerritm MAG Tactical has a good come that they use on their pencil barrels. IV8888 has had some good things to say about the system.
