  1. I primarily shoot open with 2011's but have a Gen 4 G17 that I bought a few years ago when I got a job that provided that as a duty gun. It's basically sitting unused and I figured I'd set it up as a CO gun to play around occasionally. I have zero experience with Glocks other than carrying one for work and we aren't allowed to modify it in any way so it is stock. I don't want to go crazy on it but simply make the trigger a bit better and get the right recoil spring in it. Currently it barely ejects my old Production ammo that made 135 PF out of a Shadow. Any recommendations on a setup?
  2. Being an IPSC shooter and only shooting USPSA between 5-10 times a season I tend to trend low in the A-Zone when I head South to shoot.
  3. December 2018 I initiated a warranty claim on a broken Trubor, hoping June 2020 might be the month I finally have my replacement. Would like to at least shoot it before the Canadian government adds handguns to their bans.
  4. The inclusion of the Mini 14 is strictly based on the fact it was used in the 1989 Polytechnique shooting, The Beretta PX-4 made the list as it was used at another school shooting at Dawson college.
  5. Got a chance to zero mine last night and run it through it's first live fire session. Dig the extra window size and it is very bright, ran it at it's lowest setting which is something I've never even come close to doing on any of my previous dots, I tended to run them darn near max brightness.
  6. Yes, After a few years using 6 MOA Alpha 2's I decided to try 8 on the recommendation of FTP Shooting Sports. He is a hell of a lot better shooter than I with a ton more experience in the open game than me so I took his advice. The thing is so bright it's incredible, the difference is night and day to every dot I have used in both CO and Open. I am also happy to be done with the lock screws as I lost one previously.
  7. Glad to finally have one of the Alpha 3's in hand, First dry fire session today and that window is Huuuuge! Thanks FTP!
  8. I saw your post and for me I don't think that will work for a couple of different reasons. My space is pretty tight and my press is just a bit over two feet from the back wall, filling it would be very difficult at that gap as I couldn't get at it from either side. For that reason I am looking to mount from the ceiling joists almost directly above station 3 on my 650.
  9. I tried a while back and Rick said he just moved and wouldn't be unpacked for a bit. Waited several months and then tried again twice but got no response so went looking for other solutions.
  10. Any chance of you posting pics from both sides of the one on your press? Just trying to figure out what is bolted through each hole and what the set screws are for?
  11. Can anyone see a downside to the video I posted? Pretty simple, drilling of two holes in the plate and you are set, still angle adjustable as well. I think I am going to try that setup, the only thing I am thinking may be an issue is if it will tend to slide on the pipe with only one u-bolt versus 2 in these other designs.
  12. I came across this on facebook, can be done without the bracket.
  13. I shoot with several Open shooters that have been running them for quite some time now including FTP_Shooting_Sports. I own a pair of the original Alpha 2 Optics, one that has been on my CO gun for over 20k rounds and one on my open gun that has surpassed 20k rounds now, looking forward to upgrading to an Alpha 3 for the open gun when this shipment arrives!
  14. At Nationals I drew to pretty much a full A. http://engstrom.ca/webposts/private/stage3.mp4
  15. We pushed for that in Canada and the indirect feedback seemed to be they are selling the guns faster than they can produce them so why just build uppers? Perhaps over time as sales taper off?
  16. I wish they made more of these model in Goretex waterproof. A lot of our matches see the grass covered in dew in the morning and it's nice to keep the feet dry!
  17. Unless that was set up wrong, at Nationals if you wanted to engage T5 off the start as you did no movement was required. As a C class squid I shot that the same way you did except I didn't need to move to engage T5 off the draw. I was in a squad with a bunch of GM's and they all moved far right off the draw and took T6 & 7, transitioned to T4 and then shot T5 on the move, or that was the plan some struggled to keep the movement going as it's a pretty small window to get it done smoothly. Here is a link to Sailer's run.
  18. Same story for me on an older Trubor but I still don't have my replacement, been waiting since March.
  19. The wall was inside the shooting area so no penalty, if it was outside a procedural for each shot fired.
  20. I've seen a bit of both, in some matches they simply send me one as soon as they notice I am a foreign shooter and others have a generic one posted where I add my info but that is not real common, the more common is me requesting one and getting it directly. It's almost a waste as It is no longer required for me to have one to get a form 6 like it was in the past but if the border agent asks and I don't have it then it can become a major issue even though it is technically no longer required. I think I have been asked to produce my match invite twice in the last 40 or 50 crossings.
  21. Most of the US Letters use a template that in the past was readily available from the USPSA website. I've had match directors act like I'm trying to pull something on them requesting the letter but it is as simple as if US Customs asks for it I need it as well as my ATF Form 6 to cross the border or they can turn me around. This is a basic copy of a match invitation taken from mine recently received for USPSA Hicap Nationals. Because this one was for Nats and came for HQ it's signed by Foley otherwise it's usually simply the match official in charge of registration or the match director. I've also had blanket ones for club matches that simply lists their schedule for the season on the invite so I don't need to get one every two weeks. August 26, 2019 John Doe 123 Any Street Winnipeg, MB R2C 3K7 Canada Dear Mr. Doe, You are cordially invited to attend the USPSA HiCap National Championship to be held September 22-September 28, 2019 in St. George Utah. DO NOT DISCARD THIS LETTER. As a visitor to the United States, you will need this letter to qualify for a “Form 6” import permit allowing you to bring your firearms into the United States. You will be asked to present an itinerary, and may be asked to show your USPSA membership card (we suggest you attach copies of both to your Form 6 application). As a competitor, you qualify for the sport shooting exemption that allows a foreign national to possess a firearm while attending shooting events in the United States. According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) you must submit a copy of this letter, along with your Form 6 application to the BATF Import Branch in Washington, D.C. 90 days prior to your travel dates to ensure the paperwork will be completed on time. A separate Form 6 is needed for each event you attend. Please pay close attention to this requirement while traveling in our country. For more information on the import process, go to the following BATF website: http://www.atf.treas.gov/firearms/022002form6updates.htm . Then contact the BATF Import Branch directly at (202) 927-8320 for a form with instructions. If you have further questions, please contact me at the numbers listed on this page. Sincerely, Mike Foley USPSA President

    Carry optics dot

Another option for a dot similar in features to the Romeo 3 Max would be the FTP Shooting Sports Alpha 3 Optic, I've been using the Alpha 2 Optics for over a year on both CO and Open guns and will be adding an Alpha 3 in the near future if my replacement DVC Open ever arrives. Check out this thread for some details

    Carry optics dot

This is laughable, that is like saying the new car you picked up last month is awesome as it hasn't needed any repairs like your 2015 with 100k miles.
  24. I used an Alpha 2 on my Production Optics Shadow last year, likely around 15,000 rounds I had switched to it after trying a Vortex Viper and Deltapoint Pro, it was a big improvement. This year I have my second Alpha 2 on an open gun and it is at about 10k rounds for the season and flawless. If my replacement DVC Open ever arrives I am going to put an Alpha 3 on it as my current gun mount has a blast shield.
